  • This is a speaker terminal replacement project for a Yamaha M80/M85. It is a common issue for these Yamaha amplifiers due to the design and the materials used when they were manufactured. In this video, I provided an option for how to repair and replace the damaged speaker terminals. There are also many binding post terminals are available in the website and I suggest DIY fans should upgrade to a better one. I hope the clip of this project will help those who want to replace the speaker terminals for their units. Please leave me your comments and questions for this replacement work. Thanks for watching.

Én is az m60 erősítőm csatlakozóinak a javításával foglalkozok éppen.👍
    Tanulságos videó, köszönöm.

I have the M65/C65 set with a pair of AR Acoustic Research SRT380 Studio Recording Transducer speakers, and it sounds amazing!

The Yamaha's amplifiers are very musical and detailed. I am glad that you have such good combination.

Love my M-80 as well. It’s gonna new a recap and glue removal. Those new terminals really look nice. Very nice work, almost afraid to ask for that to be done in addition. Thanks for the vid.

Thank you for your comments. Be sure to remove the corrosive glue as soon as possible before the damage occurs. They are very nice amps and worth to keep.

    Great work!
I throw away the original nuts and get some Nylock nuts that'll never back off.

Nice job, you are the first person I have seen that reused the original metal pins. Nice! I am about to repair a couple of my M-80's, and intend to follow your method. Plus I have an M-65 and M-60 that I am going to see if this can be done too. Thanks!

    Hi there!
I purchased this amplifier some 40 years ago and after few years i noticed a problem with it. the left channel volume meters always were lower than the right

did you do a before and after check for background noise ?
I've used the same terminals on my Trio KA-2000 have noticed some background noise after but can't tell if it was there or not before so I'm going to change the biding posts on my Sansui 881 only on two channels to compare. The Sansui is almost completely silent on max volume which is shocking for an amp this old.

I don't think the background noise have anything to do with changing biding posts. I suggest checking and moving the ground wire location of the speaker terminals to see if there is any improvements.
