This game was a painful reminder for Giants fans for how much their bullpen collapsed in the second half of the 2016 regular season. The woes resurfaced in the postseason at the worst time.
This Cubs team had heart, man. I loved watching KB, Rizz and El Mago.

The 2016 Cubs was such a stacked team. I'm a Yankee fan, but I also watched the cubs play that year on TV and I was hooked. The Cubs have become one of my favorite teams to watch all around.
Dude this was such a good game on such a good run for the Cubbies! Let’s hope we can pull it off once more 8 years later!

David Ross became the oldest catcher ever to homer in the postseason. He would beat that record later on in the postseason (his final major league at bat).
Another forgotten classic I think of is the Rockies and Marlins game from 2008 where the game ended with Rockies walking off to win the game 18-17. One of the craziest games in regular season history.

Seeing David Ross on the Cubs lineup is just funny at this point
us Cubs fans got attached to him as a player and that's likely why he got the manager job, he was a good catcher and clubhouse presence, and we don't win in 16 without Ross
@@BaseballRoscoe25 Oh I won’t deny that, he was absolutely critical for our win that year, but after this year it just hits a bit. Different.
Thank Goodness we won this game, This changed everything, why I say that? Because we would have had to use Lester in a game 5, and we would have been likely facing Cueto and MadBum likely would have came out of the pen, and even tho we would have been at Wrigley, the Giants would have had all the momentum, and say we would have won, we would have been at a disadvantage from the start by not having Lester in game 1, so in one aspect this comeback by the Cubs gave them the momentum they needed to ride all the way to the title

I wonder if Matt Moore remembers this game as a good day or a bad day. 8 innings of 2 run ball with 10Ks and an RBI is something anyone should be proud of, but his bullpen blew it the minute he was out and it cost his team the chance at advancing.

Maybe you did that game I forgot but do Game 5 2010 World Series (a pitchers duel thru 6 innings) It was surprisiningly similar to Game 5 of the 2023 World Series.
Actually this game was a reminder of how great this team really was
Any of the Phillies wins in the 2022 or 2023 postseason is what you should do in the future
