Very useful video and thorough review⊠I have the Neocolors but use them so little as I mostly use watercolorsâŠ. Seeing your beautiful paintings inspired me to pick them up and start esperimenting more with them! đ thank you!
Thank you so much! Iâm glad the video was informative and inspiring! And I think they go well with watercolors, even if you just use them as little accents
I really love your style! Thank you for making this video, it saves me a lot of time, trying everything myself. đ
@@debbiebelterman8789 thank you! And Iâm happy that was helpful âșïž
I just got a set of these and love them. So easy to take along camping and paint the scenery.
Exactly! I love how quick and easy they are to use and thereâs no mess with them or need for anything else like paintbrushes or water (if you use them dry)
This is very helpful. Thank you for sharing.
Iâm glad it was useful, thank you for the feedback!
I just looked at your back catalog of videos and youâve really evolved. Youâve gone from scrapbooks to some dark and edgy fine-art.
Thank you! I did art in high school and then life was really busy and then I got sucked into scrapbooking which was a good creative outlet and also it was made of much quicker and smaller projects, so it was easier to fit into my life. And then companies sent me so much free stuff that it was really fun. And then finally I got tired of it, which opened the space for me to get back into art. I do like seeing how my work has improved over the years.
Second part was also very informative
Iâm glad to hear it, thank you for the feedback!
This was a very interesting video! I love the Neocolor 2. I have never sat down and tried this all out.. đ Im learning by doing with them. Thank you for sharing your tests!
Iâm glad you found it useful! And thank you for commenting. I love your channel, I think Iâve seen all your videos âșïž

You really put these sticks to work. Excellent. I had never thought of using them as you do. I'm going to try to do more with them. I loved your sketch book work with them.
Thank you! And Iâm happy you got some ideas. I love how they can do so much! Thanks for watching and commenting đ€
Hullo Ela, I have used these Neocolor IIâs for over 30 years and I am very happy with their lightfastness! I used the 10 then the 15 color sets for close to 15 years and I would go buy special colors for a given project. About 5 years ago I got the 30 stick selection box and purchased the plastic palette with the set! It has a smooth side and a rough side. I used regular masking tape for scribbling the color down for mixing or water dilution as I avoided buying a separate palette just for them. The plastic palette is very nice to have but I did use the tape for years and it worked! I used the sticks for a lot of under painting and mixed media pieces they are simply amazing and so easy to use. I see a painting that hangs outside of my studio everyday and it has not faded yet, it is 37 years old. It is hanging in the hallway and not under UV glass, but I did spray the finished artwork with Krylon UV protective spray. I encourage you to use care when working with the iffy colors that are not as permanent as others. I am excited to see more videos of yours! See you next video, yep I am a new subscriber!
Wow, thatâs a lot of great tips! I didnât even know ow theyâve been around for so long! I love the masking tape idea. Hopefully others see your comment and get some good ideas from it so thank you for sharing. And thank you for watching and subscribing! So happy to have you join me on my channel âșïžâ€ïž

Thanks for the information on using the NeoColorII. I have a set but still haven't used them. Your suggestions are GREAT!
Too your sketchbook was brilliant to see. Your talent is incredible and the way you layer and see light is lovely. It was so fun to see your beautiful creative works. You can tell you really get lost in your art and all the layering. It's so brilliant to see. Thanks for sharing your passion.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful words of encouragement! It means so much â€ïž And I am So glad to hear that the tips and ideas were helpful! Enjoy using your neocolor and of you get a chance, update me on how you like them after youâve had a chance to play around for a bit!

Yay! Thank you and happy to have you here! đ„°
â€â€â€. This is a great video! I used clear Gesso on the paper prior to using these and then I can blend them with a baby wipe. Very fun! â€â€â€
Ooh I love that, thatâs a great idea!
I found this artist who does some wild and incredible art with Neo Colors. czcams.com/video/bRDQwf4SwLk/video.htmlsi=ixuGDhg6zno4y9az. PS I love the style of your art.
𫶠I really enjoyed the information you shared with us.
It was a big help for ALL of us who canât afford to buy extra products for experimentation.
(Youâve done it for us. đ )
- I love the eyes on your giraffe, a a a nd I forget the other ones I liked but yeah, theyâre really bright and shiny looking.
â AnywaysâŠ. Iâm going to buy at least a 40 pk. of the Neo Il crayons.
So THANKYOU âŒïž
Much appreciated.

I think youâll really enjoy having them, especially after you play around with them for a bit. If you get a chance, come back and let me know what you think of them!
Wow ...... Yours Sketchbooks are so Fun and Cool đđ
i love your Art and i'm so happy to know that you love too use Neocolor2 đ
For my part, since I discovered them thanks to the advice of my Art and Color Dealer , I love using them almost daily and combining them with classic watercolors in my sketchbooks and my other paintings. The only thing I find unfortunate is that you can't easily find all the available colors and I regret that they removed many of them from the color range... it's a real shame and very frustrating! (I think that at Caran d'Ache, they consider this product more for Children than for Adults which is, in my opinion, a serious error given its potential)
Friendly yours,
Thank you so much! âșïž Iâm so glad you liked them and so happy to have you join me on my video. I do love them! I canât believe theyâd consider it a kids supply since theyâre so great and a lot of them are lightfast so they can definitely be a professional supply. I wish theyâd keep all the colors and add to the range. Would be great to have like 150 colors to choose from, like some colored pencil ranges. Anyways, thank you for watching and commenting đ„°
Iâm new to your channel! I like that you demonstrated what we can do with neocolors! May I know what Faber Castell Pitt colors your used in your experiment? Itâs so pretty!
Thank you for watching! Iâm glad the video was useful âșïž And do you mean the pear? For that, I believe I used lime green, yellow, ochre, russet, grass green, and brown for the shadow underneath.
Great video! How do you blend them other than with white? I'm a newbie to art and I can't seem to blend them and get that pastel look that you've gotten. Loved the sketchbook examples!
Oh I just got to the last few minutes and you show how to blend haha
Oh sorry I buried that in at the end! I should have probably done a little section just on that. But the pear example probably explains it best. Just layer them close to each other and smudge them in or layer multiple layers on top of each other, especially thick layers and either smudge them or just keep layering until you get the effect you want. Thatâs pretty much what I did for the thickest pastel looking backgrounds. Hope that helps!
Thank you! đ
Thanks â ââ ââ ââ ââ â

Lightfastness is no longer relevant. You aren't selling originals and neither is anyone else. Even if you were collectors use uv protective glass and no one hangs art in direct sunlight. They never have. Today you youtubers are selling prints. Which won't last with ai. Unless you learn to sell your personality. So use what you like. Create what you want. Let those creative juices flow. Enjoy and have fun. That's what it's all about.
Yep, as I mentioned, if youâre just using materials in a sketchbook, then lightfastness isnât a huge factor. Itâs still something to consider though because some materials can fade within a couple months so even in a sketchbook, itâs something I do care about to some degree. In fact, a lot of my materials which I decided not to keep and to sell was due to lightfastness issues. But when Iâm selling originals, itâs definitely something I consider. So itâs a good bit of info to mention when doing a product review. Even if someone doesnât sell their works, if itâs something they might gift to a family member or hang on even their own walls, lightfastness is something to take into account. But yeah, if youâre just experimenting and playing around then at those times, how much you enjoy the materials is the primary factor
People absolutely still sell originals! Art practices are not a one size fits all.

All I sell are originals. And lughtfastness is a huge issue because UV glass/UV spray isn't the end all be all. If a color is not lightest no amount of UV glass will help. And if a color us straight up fugitive then it will even fade in the dark. And AI art all looks the same and doesn't understand proportion or where things like unicorns' horns grow from, lol. Watching ai try to replicate people is funny af! Although if you tell it "discord moderator trail cam" it seems to get that pretty spot onđ€Łđ€Ł Also there are programs that you can download so AI is incapable of using anything of yours and as more and more artists, photographers, etc continue to learn about said programs (IG actually has a setting so AI can't take anything from your page btw) AI will not be able to grow and continue to learn and in ten years the trend of that disproportionate fantasy art will be so old and boring. Don't get me wrong, I think AI has great possibilities to be a useful tool......if done ethically, i.e. not stealing from others' hard work without permission or compensation, but with all the lawsuits and the programs blocking AI there might be an understanding coming to and we will be able to work together.
@@amypanddirtytoo1926 where do you sell these originals?
