I like, after takeoff, the full 180° u-turn after starting to head out into the Pacific, which the plane would've kept on doing if heading to Tokyo, Taipei, Bangkok, Shanghai, or Hong Kong. But this flight was going to London. It actually made a bit more than a 180° turn, it was more 180° plus another 45°.

Switching from take off thrust (TO/GA) to climb thrust. If you keep the power in, you'll break speed restrictions, and boom right through your turn. ATC would not be pleased, especially in such strict airspace as LAX.

explode hi The only speciality it has is for being the only engine in service to achieve 115,000 lbs of thrust. I don't deny that it's a great engine nonetheless, but most of the fans worship it so much that it makes me want to puke, and this post is only one example of many. It is the most overrated engine.

You are always going to fly the approved departure route. Maybe this one is called "Loop6 or 7?". Think of it as a series of turns that you would take when driving from your city to the highway on your way across country. Only in this case, the course is all entered into the planes navigation computer and auto pilot will fly the entire route for you!
