I'm the daughter of a veteran (Korea) and a grandmother of a current soldier. I remember that the poem of this song was written while watching a battle that determined whether our fledgling nation was going to stand. The people in that fort with grit and fortitude withstood hell to keep the enemy from coming ashore. Because they did, our nation stood and still stands. Yes we have scars and are suffering a lot of division. But we were close to the end that night the lyrics of this song was written and that flag was flying in the morning. I have faith in the vision that is this country. We hold a dream, never fully realized, but one people around the globe long for. That this Brazilian admires what we stand for enough to sing this special song this way should give us squabbling folks in the U.S. pause. I'll thank you for your service but also with reverence remember thos who served and those who died that day those who served since then. Just like we weren't done that night in Baltimore harbor, we're not done yet.

I am not a Marine, so I won't us the Latin, but remain Ever Faithful sir, we honor your service. As for this song, it is more than Ironic that it takes a Brazilian to remind uo how this song is meant to be revered. We will not reclaim our place in the world until we have a renewal of faith and patriotism.
Dan's version of our National Anthem was an excellent choice for 9/11 remembrance. He isn't an American, but loves our country and served in the Brazilian military. This is in my top 3 favorite versions along with the traditional Whitney Houston version and the other powerful version by Madison Rising (former lead singer Dave Bray is a Navy Veteran). My dad was one of the first soldiers to cross the ocean to be in the motorized and medical infantry unit that followed Patton's troop everywhere. Once he was home again--one of the last shipments out of Europe, he made it one of his first responsibilities in life, to teach people about Marxism and Communism, and why neither should be allowed to take over ANY country--including our own. I've always been very thankful that he taught us well--especially in these days! Dan has lived in Brazil all his life, and he KNOWS what happens with that type of rulership. As an adult, he stands up for awareness, courage, and not giving up until the victory is won. You might want to react to him and ERIK GRÖNWALL singing "Breaking the Silence." 😀

First off, thank you for your service. Yes, that was a day I'll never forget. Watched live. The ignorance of the morning news shows. Oh my, looks like a plane may have crashed. Hummmmm. OMG! Clueless! Watched the second plane hit as the host were doing their trivial wonderment behavior. It took them 30 seconds to realize what was just seen. As you noted about the coming together, 100%. Unfortunately most have forgotten and many young people are not even thought the reality of that day, that event. Sigh.
I agree that's why I think its up to us to make sure those people and the events of that day, not to mention the war that followed isn't lost. It was our generations Pearl Harbor.

Yes, that was a day I'll never forget. Watched live. The ignorance of the morning news shows. Oh my, looks like a plane may have crashed. Hummmmm. OMG! Clueless! Watched the second plane hit as the host were doing their trivial wonderment behavior. It took them 30 seconds to realize what was just seen.
As you noted about the coming together, 100%. Unfortunately most have forgotten and many young people are not even thought the reality of that day, that event. Sigh.
I agree that's why I think its up to us to make sure those people and the events of that day, not to mention the war that followed isn't lost. It was our generations Pearl Harbor.

I checked out the end of this video and Dan's conversation is not there. If I remember correctly, he talks about how some of his followers who were not happy about him singing our anthem. It was his video titled An Apology. I think you will enjoy it.
