How can we be sure that the story of Jesus wasn’t changed over time? How do we know that the virgin conception, the miracles and the Resurrection weren’t added to the story late? J. Warner Wallace talks about the nature of evidence tampering in this video, excerpted from his interview with Lee Strobel at a Sunday morning service at Woodlands Church in Woodlands, Texas.

I thank Jesus Christ for what he did for us all and persuaded J Warner Wallace and Lee Strobel to follow him just as he persuaded the apostle Paul to repent and turn away from Sin. Great work for the Lord Jesus Christ, may he bless you richly with many fruits for your labour!

I know what Jesus said wasn't a legend, because while genuinely and diligently listening to His Word for understanding, God woke me up. I experienced two Truths that God Himself said before I even knew they were Truths: (1) "if you diligently seek Me with all your heart, you will find me" (Jer 29:13) and "that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Heb 11:6) and (2) "My Words are spirit and they are life." (John 6:63). Because of that God-given experience, I continue to diligently study the Scriptures and seek God.
Can other people make similar claims? Sure. witches and warlocks even make the claim. God's supernatural realm is real, no matter whose side you are on. But, that doesn't change the Truth that every knee will bow to Jesus.

Fifty years ago in January 1972 while I was in the Marine Corps it was a Saturday that night had a vision a Angel said to me God want's you to seek and find him. I was in awe and didn't know what to do and said how can you find God. The next day I went out and bought a Bible and started reading it and that was one of scripture's I came to Jer: 29: and when as you say(Jer 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. God has dragged me through the wilderness weeding out wheat from the chaff. Since that day he has intervened in my life more more than once. I still own that bible don't use it anymore it is well used.
      It is as Peter says:
Act 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
Act 2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
      Act 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
Act 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
Act 2:18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
Act 2:19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
Act 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Peter left this part out: Joe 2:32
for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
      A witness for this part:
Rom 11:3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
Rom 11:4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
Rom 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
2Ti 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Joh 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

I love your work, Detective Wallace. But did I miss something in this video? You introduced the idea of Mark being somewhat removed from John but didn't return to this point. Probably the video from which this clip is extracted, clarifies this. Anyway, your book Cold Case Christianity is excellent. Thanks for writing it.

Wait, I don't understand. What about the question at the beginning, that understanding of Jesus seemed to change from Mark, where Jesus is not described as Divine, to John where he is God? Do you explore this more deeply somewhere?

That is something that people seem to ignore

Jesus Himself claimed to be God in the gospel of Mark. That is why the Pharisees found him guilty of blasphemy to have him crucified. In Mark 14:62 in answering the interrogation of the Pharisees, Jesus first of all responds, “I am.” That subtlety might be lost on the casual reader, but Jesus applies the name of God to Himself found in Exodus 3:14 “I am.” Also in Mark 14:62 Jesus refers to Himself using the term “Son of Man.” That is a name for God found in Daniel 7:13. The Pharisees clearly understood that Jesus was claiming to be God, which is why they immediately convict Him of blasphemy and render the decision that Jesus should be executed for blasphemy. In a second instance in Mark 12:35-37 Jesus refers to Himself as Lord. He asks the Pharisees a riddle: If the Messiah is merely a human descendent of King David, then why does David refer to the Messiah as “My Lord?” Jesus quotes Psalm 110:1, written by David, where David says Jehovah said to my Adonai…acknowledging David’s witness of the Father’s claim of the Messiah to be God. To reiterate Jesus clearly claimed to be God, and the proof of that claim is the rejection of the Pharisees to accept that claim and have Jesus executed on the cross.

OK, but he says that John is probably the latest Gospel. What about the earlier ones that are less 'developed'? I don't think the speaker has addressed this, unless the letters of John's students are earlier than John's Gospel maybe?

All four canonical gospels proclaim Jesus Christ’s divinity. One example is at His baptism. The other common proclamation is at His trial the night He was betrayed.
Keep in mind these people stuck to their testimony despite intense persecution and (except for John), martyrdom.

1 reason, among many, that I'm a devout Christian is that the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST tells it plainly even if it's against HIM. Every other religion makes it out that their god is perfect, he has, can and will do no wrong, whereas GOD clearly admits HIS faults, tells us HE disciplined us and it made it HIM feel sad and HE will never do it again. That is a personal relationship, no other spiritual being does this.

  • @stevenlast2168
    @stevenlast2168 Před 2 lety +1

The only God that the first century Jews knew was the Son not the Father. Jesus is God but he is not the Farther the son has a God but the Father does not. Jesus makes it very plain if you believe the scripture's.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
We can understand spiritual things from physical things that are made all things produce according to their kind and God is reproducing himself through man.
Psa 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Psa 8:5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Psa 8:6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
Joh 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
Rev 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
1Jn 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
( we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is ) Jesus is the original Son man and will be just like him.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the (only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus is the only begotten of the Father the rest of creation comes through the Christ Jesus.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
