Dan’s Caribbean Reef Runner with V8 jet drive

- WA boat builder Daniel Roberts, aka Squeak, rebuilt this cool-as-fug ‘80s model Caribbean Reef Runner. She ran a Chevrolet 454 big-block that drank like a legless sailor, so Dan tamed her down with a MerCruiser V8 6.2L 370 Jet Ready Inboard. We’re lovin’ that Queensland red cherry transom.

How the Captain doesn't HONESTLY have over 1 million subs is just plain crazy. This channel provides some of the best reviews and info on boating bar none, with an honest, non partisan review. You guys SERIOUSLY need to have way more recognition, and I believe all Aussie and Kiwi boat builders and sellers should get on board with your channel!!!!!!
Yes and no. Great content and shots mostly but to me, the non-partisan view is honestly on the downslope. I feel/suspect they are doing a lot more paid content where the builders are paying them and that's alright - they should just be 100% transparent about it. That said, this one was somewhat of a return to the older no BS type videos which was great to see.
Is 40k sub the new Mil?
Got one of these girls. Just pulled the tired mercruiser out and doing a hull extension and twin 175’s. One of the best off shore boats. Always felt safe going through the rip for a good day out
Best Caribbean ever.... without doubt!
I had one of these on Port Phillip back in the '90s and agree with everything Dan says about the boat's sea keeping abilities. Mine was an ex-victorian Water Police boat, and even with a clapped out Mexican Chevy Mercruiser it would do 30 knots, so the V8 jet does sound a bit like overkill - but it's not my boat. The resto-mod treatment by Dan looks first rate and is a great credit to him; the timber transom is a thing of beauty and really sets the boat off. Props to him for saving an oldie from the tip.
What a cool and unique boat. Looks bloody amazing for a rebuild as well.
I had one of the last Reef Runners built, kept it for 22 years , repowered it 3 times epic boat
That marlin board is definitely not oversized, it's what should be considered the absolute minimum. Epic build!
Epic boat. Congrats on a really lovely build
Mate that looks and sounds superb AAAND it's practical, well done!.

This boat has style. Great build mate 👍🏻
Damn, my old man was gunna buy a reef runner back in the day but because he couldnt fit it in our garage he got the smaller intruder (5.9m from memory). Nostalgic to me

I'll.have one thanks.
Really nice build. What boats does he build in WA?
I'm pretty sure it was Ascent Shipwrights that built it, but maybe it just appeared in the social media and it wasn't strictly a build by then if not mentioned....
Ascent Shipwrights, this was Daniel's personal project to demonstrate their expertise at the 2019 Perth Boat Show.
Is it running a Hamilton Jet?
Looks like a Hamilton 212 with one of their older styles of reverse bucket.
