      @@spathvid7940 Winning is certainly important. But your action of standing up in the first place can have a butterfly effect and cause the change you were fighting for even if you didn't do it directly. Furthermore, by submitting to your fate just because you know you'd lose anyways you lose more than just the battle. You've thrown a piece of yourself away each time you do that.

      @DiddyKongVsLuigi Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@SaulRamirez-bz9cs True, but the Sensei slaughter is the only dark moment Incan think of. (Idk if you count the “Ahhhh! 😩” from when Sensui tortured Yusuke as horror-dark.)
      The tone of YYH dark scenes were usually closer to Dragon Ball. Younger Tugoro toying with Kuwabara, Rando toying with Kuwabara, or Hiei’s past were definitely dark but the tone was definitely a lot lighter in the anime than in the Manga.
      Meanwhile something like the onion kid’s. Death in Gantz makes the Sensei Slaughter look like a pillow fight. There’s something more sadder about a little boy begging for his life while grown adults get a kick out of hurting him. And that music! 😩 Ugh!
      But yeah, YYH was definitely good with gore and had incredible animation. I just meant that today’s anime’s overshadow it and I find that sad tbh.

      It was decent at best. The first 4 episodes were really cool. After that the pacing went to shit. 20 episodes in, were into the dark tournament arc. That was fun to watch. Classic Shounen beat em up. After the tournament idk what happened. All the power that yousuke obtained was pretty much gone. The big guy with the sunglasses and muscle (Forgot his name). Was considered a class B demon. Hei couldnt even touch him. 10 episodes later, he kills over 100 class A demons. Like wtf? Now there's another tournament that feels out of place and un needed.

      Hiei's character was great to watch develop throughout. He'll never admit it but whether Yusuke was human or demon, he saw him as a brother. And probably thought the same of Kuwabara to a lesser extent. I mean, Hiei (and Koenma) were willing to stand next to Yusuke when he had to choose between the three buttons at the Gate of Judgment in the last case / OVA, albeit out of sight, with the rest of death. That's loyalty

    You know Yu Yu Hakushou did a lot of things that other animes didn't this being one of the best examples. You hear that heart warming speech he unleashes a new power and looses. In other animes this scenario would've ended up in a win for the main character. Then again this is probably one of the few times where fans didn't really care if he won or lost just that he was an epic badass as usual

    this is how to correctly end a show while also subverting typical expectations. the final fights do seem to lack the severity of earlier fights but thats becuase its become a competition now rather than a deathmatch. so it makes sense narratively. plus letting yusuke lose lets you know that he's still has to strive to be better. btw if you want the actual true ultra final ending of the show you'll have to find a very obscure ova collection of random stuff. its in a collection of intros and outros oddly enough. it follows up a little while after the final episode to find that yusuke has started his own ramen stand. keiko drops by to have a bite and catch up a bit. i think they make a joke about how someday he'll be in charge of her dads restaurant after they are married or something. and i believe he also mentions training for the next demon realm tournament that's coming up. its not a whole lot but worth seeing if you care about what happens after. I know the show seems to end a couple times and they all felt somewhat satisfying but i didn't find this true ending until years later and im glad i did.

BAscially, finding true inner peace because of the humans, demons he has befriended and all the revelations he had that had yusuke reach his own "Sacred energy" since he realized that because of all the friend he has in 3 different worlds, he has to protect them all and finally realizing his true reason to fight
      The anime and magna have different interpretations since them manga calls it Yusukes own sacred energy as opposed to it being a new type of power here

I think that's because of Yusuke's power, his emotion merged with his spiritual energy and that made Yomi and Kurama, who are sensible of spiritual energy changes, see things, see through Yusuke's heart...as it's shown Yomi says " What's going on ? That's why I loved this show. As someone who was forced to watch this when I was 7, I'm glad I was. This whole scene depicted so much more then just a clash between Yomi and Yusuke. It showed just how much Yusuke put on the line. Thinking about all his friends, all his rivals, and Keiko. This scene to me was just a reflection of the master piece that YYH was to me and the hardships that Yusuke faced through his first detective years to his end years fighting Yomi. He had so much on the line for him that he didn't want to let down everyone who cheered him on so he took it upon himself to carry the weight and fight with everything he had in order to protect them, then finally awakening his sacred energy. This really made me feel so immersed and felt as if I was cheering Yusuke on from the stands hoping he would win and the final clash of that scene had me shook but even with the outcome it felt just and had me satisfied with the ending. I really wished that the manga and the anime didn't end the way it did and that we were able to see the aftermath of the tourney and continue on with the adventure. Anyways this story was just fucking amazing. Too bad Togashi's new work is hiatus x hiatus.

Togashi simply has such a unique style. There's just something about his writing that can't be replicated by anything else I've watched, and not just in anime. This energy is a manifestation of Yusuke's growth as a Spirit Detective and as an individual who fought for his friends and for the well-being of the spiritual and human world. This ability to reach new levels of spiritual energy is a recurring characteristic in the series, where characters overcome themselves through their emotions and determination, unleashing special powers.

    I recently watched the entirety of Hunter x Hunter because it was also created by Togashi. I can firmly say I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as YYH, and that may possibly be because I was comparing the two the entire time. YYH is about the main characters overcoming their weaknesses and their faults to become better and stronger in order to beat whatever obstacle is in front of them. HxH is about way too many things at once, and it turns into an anime where fighting is overlooked in favor of lots of thinking, monologues and ways to avoid combat entirely. There were just so many little things that irked me about HxH that I could nitpick about for hours on end. It was just too off-putting after watching YYH, which has become my favorite anime of all time.

    • @LBK978
      @LBK978 Před 6 lety +4

      The characters in HxH are great and complex. The only reason you're being turned off is because your bias is overriding everything else. YYH was a great anime, but you can't let your nostalgia dictate your reason. I finished rewatching it about 2 weeks ago. It is truly an amazing anime, but its pacing suffered severely around the Demon Tournmanet Arc. That, and Togashi didn't get to really dig into the character development of the other main characters too well due to the editors. YYH needed more episodes overall.
      HxH shows character development for all of its main characters except for Leorio unfortunately. The most controversial arc in HxH, the Chimera Ant Arc, is either loved or hated by watchers. It's an incredible arc but it is pretty damn long lol. They're both battle shounen, but HxH has more analysis behind the fights which I enjoy as well as many others. In fact, HxH's Nen system and JJBA's Stand system are among the most respected when looking into power creep and the like. You should give HxH a try without comparing it to a cherished childhood memory, as bias will nearly always win against reason in that case.

    • @PPKNexus
      @PPKNexus Před rokem

      Yeah, this is one of those controversial things because there have been multiple interpretations of what is said about it. Most the fanbase has chalked what was said in the manga up to a translation error, but if we look at what was said by Sensui in both anime and manga, he states that the "training alone isn't enough," and "requires a desire to bring about a great change in the world." Yusuke's breakthrough moment here would seem to be exactly that. It may in fact be that the Sei Ko Kai is just the amalgamation of combining spirit and demonic energy in perfect balance and harmony as its supposed to be "the highest echelon of power that any being can achieve ." It would track with all the Taoist philosophy that's embedded in the series. So I'm on board with the idea that this WAS in fact the sacred energy as Koenma is not exactly the greatest source, being he had never seen it manifest in practice before Sensui.

    When Yusuke imagines the people he is fighting for, there are 20 people, (21 including Pu). He is fighting to change to correct the world around those 20.
    40 years/20 people = 2 years.

      Jocelynn Rubio I get he wanted to end the show but compared to previous arcs this one is just so flawed I wish he just took action to prevent those things and give it a better ending. I still enjoyed it but as a whole series this final arc was just really lacking

    Funniest thing is that this scene is all filler. Manga only showed that part where Yomi takes that free punch. After they just cut from the tournament.

    Few anime have ever come close to the amount of satisfaction and joy I got from watching Yu Yu Hakusho. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is the only completed show that I can think of off the top of my head.

    BEST ANIME' EVER.
    DB, DBZ, DBS is too over-powered that made the show (s) boring.

      DB and DBZ are in a league and DBS is garbage. i think what made it boring that it's about 2 or 3 characters at most

    I've always hated that they never clarified what that new power was. Just left it to the fans to come up with their own ideas, and fan theories are usually pretty awful but they stick with them like they'll die if they don't no matter how ridiculous they are...

      I always had a soft spot for the moment Yusuke realizes his power in the dark tournament against toguro. Watching his friend die, he almost lost the will to fight by thinking Kuwabara would not be there.

    Rather clever, Yusuke. Combing your Spirit Energy with your Demon Energy to form your own version of Sacred Energy. But which one of you will win?

      It was literally a second away from being a draw. From a kid who started out the series barely able to handle Hiei, who was himself a low class demon, going toe to toe with one of the Three Kings of Demon World, even with him holding back, is nothing to sneeze at
