Well said, because Buddha gave us this advice too:
'Monks, if anyone should speak in disparagement of me, of the Dhamma or of the Sangha, you should not be angry, resentful or upset on that account. If you were to be angry or displeased at such disparagement, that would only be a hindrance to you. For if others disparage me, the Dhamma or the Sangha, and you are angry or displeased, can you recognise whether what they say is right or not?' If others disparage me, the Dhamma or the Sangha, then you must explain what is incorrect as being incorrect, saying: "That is incorrect, that is false, that is not our way, that is not found among us.""

The first Mahayana monks and followers were in India (Chinese pilgrims who wrote during the first time China received Buddhism said that they saw Mahayana monks and temples in India and that Mahayana spread to China through Indian missionaries). The main Mahayana monasteries and centres were in India. The language the scriptures were written in was Sanskrit, which is a language of India. I could go on. The point? It's all from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳, not China. It went from India to China 🇮🇳➡️🇨🇳, via Indian monks. So no, Mahayana isn't Chinese. Nirvana is not something normal people pursue, the people usually follow only some teachings that they think are doable and make them happier. The aim of christians or muslims is to go to heaven, but the aim of buddhists is to be happy. The obsession of nirvana itself is so "unbuddhist".

      @@aiya5777
      The answer is No
This is how it works. Long explanation, but important
      THE EGO EXPLANATION
There is the world (or universe) and there are six senses we use to understand the world (eye, ear, nose, tongue, body and mind) and most of the universe is made of matter that has eight inseparable natures (color, hardness, heat) etc. You can find what they are on the internet and other types of matter in Abhidhamma
How it works is, for example, the consciousness that is born in the retina in the eye can only see color. In order for that to happen, there should be consciousness, the object (color) and a phenomenon called phassa (or contact - between the object and the consciousness)
This phenomenon called contact (phassa) is very important, will come to it later.
Since every human is looking for who they are, an identity for them to exist, what they do is they build an entirely new identity around their profession, education, gender, achievements, culture so on and fundamentally the images they see from their eyes, the pleasures or pain they experience from their bodies (and other senses etc.) and take those as me, mine and my soul but in reality, what happens is a chain of events where the consciousness see or feel things according to the phenomenon of contact
      A NON-TECHNICAL EXPLANATION
A practical way to understand this is, humans have memories of the past, and dreams about the future. And they identify themselves with those memories and dreams, taking those memories as me, mine and my soul
Some even say that if your mind goes to the past, you get depressed, if your mind goes to the future, you become anxious, so live at the moment.
But the truth is the mind itself only exist in the present moment, and in the present moment it goes through memories. But people think that this memory is the past and the future, and mistakenly identify it as me, mine and my soul. (due to ignorance)
So nirvana is something that exists right here, right now at the present moment, something that is beyond time.
      PHENOMENA OF CONTACT
Another way to describe this is Brahmajala Sutta (you can read the Wikipedia article of this)
Where Buddha teaches how his teachings are beyond anyone else, and how only a Buddha can uncover this
In simple words, it teaches about point of views (dhitti) or how every other religion, philosophy, science will come to exist. Since they are all points of views, they are all relative to each other (and the mind)
What Buddha's dhamma teaches is how you remove the point of view (dhitti). Once you remove the point of view, you become absolute, means achieve nirvana
The other thing is all these points of views (even modern mathematics) arises from that phenomena called phassa (contact) between the mind and the thoughts
Humans invented mathematics out of their own minds, means mathematics came out of contact. Anything that comes out of the phenomenon of contact is relative and not absolute (means is not nirvana)
Nirvana itself cannot be described by words, because every word in the world arises from the phenomenon of contact. Anything that arises from contact will get caught up in the Law of Dependent Arising (Patichcha Samuppada - do a wiki search)
      CONCLUSION
So the answer to whether these illusions exist as illusions is No
It is not really an illusion, it is a chain of effects that happens due to a cause, humans just see it in a wrong point of view due to the ignorance (avidya - not knowing) of the dhamma
In other words, humans themselves create the ego that is not really there, due to their own ignorance, and they will do both bad and good things (karma) to maintain that ego that is not there in the first place
Or scientifically, you can say that an evolved selfish consciousness is creating the illusion of a self (or an ego) to trick itself for survival (samsara - cycle of rebirth)
Remember, every phenomenon explained here happens very fast,

This gentleman is completely mistaken. The Buddha mentions that there will be people in the future who will mistakenly say that enlightenment is annihilation but such people actually dont teach his name as he never teaches annihilation as the path or the goal.
On the way towards enlightenment when reaching states like Sotapanna (stream entry) the view of self-identity (Sakkhaya Ditti) is drops where the mind is now fully convinced that the sense of self identity is just a series of thought objects that occupy the mind. In the later stages towards Niravana, the 'sense of I am' drops and this is a more suble fetter compared to the relatively coarser fetter of the sense of self-identity view. The reality according to Buddhism is that there was no actual self-identity or a sense of I am in the first place but they are just fictions made up by the unenlightened mind.
Saying that the ego is fundamentally is a good thing is like saying that a turd is a good thing and saying that the ego can be purified is like saying that a turd can be polished to make it shine like a mirror. Such claims are made by those who are stuck in delusion (Moha).

You can’t be without something which didn’t exist in the first place. The is actually no ‘ego’. It’s just an illusion created by the mind which is affected with delusion. Once you overcome delusion you see it for what it is - that there is no ego but our self-identity view and sense of being is just illusory. But Buddhism also rejects nihilism.

This guy really doesn’t understand Buddhism. The Buddha never told anyone to annihilate anything. The middle way avoids attachment and aversion. It does not use ideas of eternal existence or the annihilation of existence as a way to free oneself from suffering. Nirvana does not mean “the annihilation of the ego.” It’s the cessation of greed, ill will and delusion. It’s the cessation of the craving or grasping mind. There is a process one goes through to get there, and it’s patient, loving and non judgmental. Not too tight, not too loose. Or simply the middle way.

He got the whole meaning of “ego” in Buddhism wrong. According to Buddhism, there is no such thing as “ego” since everything is “impermanent”. People are suffering because they think the “ego” exists independently and the “ego” is your true self. This “ego” is what drives people to do things that will eventually lead them to even more suffering. By studying buddhism, you may realize that there is no “ego” from the beginning and the “ego” is just a combination of five other elements namely: Body, Sensation, Ideas, mental formation and consciousness. By practicing meditation, people will be able to observe how these five components work together to create “ego”.

This made me laugh very loudly. The Ego is not the cause of all suffering. SUFFERING is the cause of all suffering. You cannot destroy your ego. The ego does not exist. There is no question of destroying it. It’s like saying: “Do you see that nothing over there? Now, go there and destroy it.” Also, the term nibbāna comes etymologically from the negative prefix, “nir,” plus the root “vāṇa”, or binding. That is, “unbinding” and that the associated adjective is “nibbuta” (unbound) and the associated verb, “nibbuti” (to unbind). Thus it means to free, or unbind or disentangle from samsara (the endless cycle of birth, old age, sickness, and death, and the shackles and ropes of your cravings that keep you bound to this material, suffering existence). Please learn more about Buddhism. When your followers find out they have been lied to, it will be worse for your religion. I only mean to help you. Thank you. Namo Buddhaya.
