  • I get it. There's a lot of holes. A lot of columns. It will all make sense, I promise. The Ames Lettering Guide is a drafting tool that is used to create evenly spaced parallel lines. It's a great tool for calligraphers to use when creating guidelines for projects.
Purchase the Ames Lettering Guide at: www.paperinkar... (It's only $4!)

Thank you so much! I've carried this tool around with me since I was a teen in the 70's and have always thought one day I would read the instructions and understand. I was giving in one last shot today with no luck. Then I found your video. You have solved the 50 year mystery for me. I just may take up calligraphy again ;)

I'm so glad it was helpful. I really do use this tool almost every day I sit down to write. It's not scary! :) Thanks for watching.

Thank you for explaining about the spacing at 8:33. Was confused about it.

Thank you so much. Your video was very helpful. I just got my lettering guide today and was feeling disappointed because the guide kept moving while I was gliding it along my t-square. I've been watching videos, but your video is the one where I noticed you are holding the guide down with some of your fingers while sliding it along the t-square to keep it from moving.

Hi and thank you for this video. As a beginning calligrapher, I just found this tool on a few blogs. What the heck is this thing? And what does it do? Well you just answered both of those questions quickly and efficiently. AND you had a bit of a boo boo which makes this even more realistic! Thanks again.

Thank you. I also have to use washi tape on the circle part because mine moves too easily.

Great question. I have one that stays put and another that moves on me. I just tape the wheel in place with artist's tape.
