My favorite part was when Kratos said " Its time for the baldening of Baldur."
my favorite part of god of war when baldur said "its baldin' time" and balded all over freya
This is a great mix but don’t let it distract you from the fact that Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical
I love all the references Baldur gives to Kratos at the start. We learn at the end of the game that he thought Kratos was a Jötunn but it's funny how the "I thought you'd be bigger" "Far from home" and "And here I thought your race was so enlightened" also applies for Greece, amazing script!
@@ItalyTordy ah yes I do apologise I didn’t read the comment correctly I shall delete that now.
In fact, Odin & Baldur were looking for Faye in order to pick up informations about Ragnarok. We can now see that in GOWR. Baldur thought Kratos was a giant survivor and Faye was still alive. But the "far from home" thing was amazing, I confess.
@@ribeiljeanstanislas5212 yeah that’s what I stated before I deleted my comment. Also when I realised this I was actually amazed, the storyline is truly something amazing.
@@venomgaming2874 I ain't know what your comment said. I was just responding @ItalyTordy comment.
I think what makes Baldur such a great antagonist for this game, aside from the excellent parallels between him and old Kratos, is the fact that for the first real time in the series, the villain has Kratos on the backfoot.
Kratos is a character defined by his sheer power, combat prowess, and unfathomable willpower, such that even death and fate have no sway over him. He's been able to manhandle his way through the Greek world on account of these things. He's a one-man wrecking crew that cannot be stopped, controlled or contained. An entire pantheon of gods fell to him singlehandedly.
And then, in comes this scrawny, disheveled crack fiend who renders all of that stuff totally obsolete. No matter what he does, Baldur keeps on getting back up for more. All of Kratos' power and combat experience mean nothing. Even against exceptionally powerful opponents like Zeus, Thanatos, and the Sisters of Fate, Kratos' might, rage, and determination won out over whatever was thrown at him. But Baldur is looking at all of Kratos' power and grit, and he's laughing at it. He thinks its mildly annoying at worst. The entire essence of what Kratos is gets rendered meaningless, and he walks away from that first battle only BARELY clinging to life. It sets the tone for the Norse world perfectly.
This is brought about in the music perfectly. It starts off with a fast but ominous beat. This mysterious nobody just knocked Kratos forty feet skyward with one move. It has a clear air of mystery and danger to it, and as the fight goes on, the music only gets more and more intense. In previous games, the music was often bombastic and grandiose to properly convey that this was a battle between gods, almost seeming to amplify the sheer unstoppable force that was Kratos in the Greek saga, like the songs were playing for you. This is the opposite. It's frenetic. It's panicked. It sells both the chaotic nature of Baldur as a villain as well as the mounting dread that nothing that you throw at him keeps him down for long. It's like the music itself is screaming "WHY ISN'T ANYTHING WORKING?!" Either way, the message is clear.
This time, you're in over your head.
This is why Thor wasn't as strong of an antagonist. You don't get the sense of desperation from Kratos. The sense that he's ever outmatched. I found Baldur much more intimidating.
@@TwiggyShei Thor is more present as a tragic antagonist, Odin is the villainm
@@TwiggyShei I look at it as not conveying kratos's desperation but rather Thor's sheer might, rage, and power. The intro to the song represents his first altercation with Kratos when he sends him flying, which gets louder and louder, this channels into the chanting of Ragnarök, Aesir, and war. Which represents the ambition of his father, not himself, further signifying Odin's chokehold on thor. The song isn't supposed to be ominous and dangerous, its supposed to create rage and sorrow, the two emotions thor feels the most throughout Ragnarök.
And when you can finally harm him, his mom revives a giant who hasn’t brushed his teeth in years and interrupts you
In God of War 2018, you fight basically a guy on pcp who can’t die and in God of war Ragnarök, you basically fight Eddie Hall, I don’t know which is worse.
"I had a feeling hurting the big snake would bring the two of you out in the open...
Do you have any idea, any idea at all. What you have cost me?"
i like the part where kratos tells his son, "alright boi, it's time to cause Ragnarök and go to Egypt"
"This path you walk ... vengeance. You ll find no peace... I know ! ". One of the best quotes from the game, I swear. Especially if you ve played the old games.
It only makes sense if you play the originals, he never actually tells anyone that he basically killed everyone and destroyed all of Greece, only people who are implied to already know like Mimir have the faintest clue since its never specified ingame.
"You do not want this fight."
"Oh, I'm pretty sure I do...."
*backhand*
"Leave. My. Home."
"You are going to have to kill me for that to happen."
"LEAVE...MY....HOME!!!!!"
"But before that body gives out, there's one thing you should know....I can't feel ANY of this!"
"Odin's second son is Baldr, and there is good to be told about him. He is the best and all praise him. He is so fair in appearance and so bright that light shines from him, and there is a plant so white it is called after Baldr's eyelash. It is the whitest of plants, and from this you can tell his beauty both of hair and body. He is the wisest of the Aesir and most beautifully spoken and most merciful, but it is one of his characteristics that none of his decisions can be fulfilled."
He lives in a place called Breidablik. This is in heaven. No unclean things are permitted to be there."
- The Prose Edda.
it would have been like that if Freya or Frigg had never taken the curse this far and made him a madman
It is possible that Baldur actually was all that before the curse, but later completely went bonkers after spending so much time without feelings. Like he didn't want to kill Freya when she first put the curse on him and only told her to get away from him. When we meet him in the end of the game however he has no hesitation in killing Freya
@@TheBearestBearBearBearyou don't really know what baldur would've been like but after spending over a century not feeling a thing anyone would go insane
47:32 absolute chills

" I saw for Baldr, for the bloody god,
Odin’s child, his fate in store;
there stood grown-higher than the plain,
slender and very fair-the mistletoe."
- Völuspá, stanza 34
“How incredibly disappointing… Come on, then.”
5:34 ok that sync to the music perfectly.
"You do not want this fight."
"oh, I'm pretty sure i do." *back hands Kratos*
*"LEAVE. MY. HOME."*

“perhaps the real pin was the necks we snapped along the way?”-O-NG5T
I like Baldur the most when he Goes HAHAHAHA while being thrown away.
Not going to lie, I understand Freya's rage for Kratos so well...Just think: losing a child all for protection, even when you don't even really need it or care...Then seeing them die infront of you. You'd have the same vengeful feelings as her, if you wasn't the "Jail Type".
Yes? Too bad that she is the one who actually killed him. She is the evil here and I want to kill her.
besides, every single sacrifice she has ever made was to be sure that her son was alive and she believed that it was worth the suffering as long as her son survived.
Let's finish this.
"I can't feel any of this!" -Baldur
1:03 Thrud vs Heimdall. Also there’s something about that music that grabs me. I don’t know what or why. It just sounds really good.
44:12 You can see the end of the snakes model if you pause at the right time
I always listened to RunikO's versions of this (all three of them) every night while I'm washing the dishes back in mid 2020.
47:30 when your little brother steals your kill so you steal his life
23:46 Imagine just got the first in the swimming competition and getting out from the swimming pool
very wonderful
And the most music I searched for in a long time 7:06
Didn’t think I’d actually manage to listen to the whole thing in one sitting and the premiere no less but man Baldurs theme and this mix are so good
these timestamps fucking slay me everytime
My favorite one is "Run Kratos run !" Dude that is fire
Still can’t get over the fact Baulder looks exactly like my math teacher 😂
But your math teacher isn't blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical.
He’s blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or mathematical.
19:52 listening to this part you feel the desperation of a father
Did she speak of one who could feel this mix
Sounds like baldur
Baldurrrr!
This is my real account boisss
Fun fact: At 51:42, the choir has the same voices like at the valkyrie theme!
tree no jutsu aahhahahhaahahahaha, i've just realized
nice one
Yes now I can imagine myself fighting against bulder full. thank you!
“Miss me?”
Freya: But death has no power over you now. You would rather die?
Baldur: Than never feel again? Yes, yes I would rather die.
You nailed it can't wait to listen to this when I download it great job
This is sick! 🔥!
The work you put in those mixes is just amazing! Great job
An amazing theme for an amazing villain! Rather simple, yet so bloody sinister and oozing with threats physical, magical and *emotional!*
A masterful mix that seems like it tells a story!
50 MINUTES OF PURE BANGER?! what a chad.
IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS
Gonna be listening to this on repeat for the next couple months, you’re the man.
I see that my phrase is in the video, i actually like that you look at the community coments, thanks for that
“I will rain down every agony… every violation imaginable… upon you. I will parade your cold body from every corner, of every realm, and feed your soul to the vilest filth in Hel, THAT is MY PROMISE!”
…and now everyone is shipping them together. 😅
now that i think of it, she probably would have tried feeding Kratos' soul to Garm
How long have I been waiting for this! 😍😍😍
Thank you, after 5 years i can finaly hear this in high quality. I always liked 32:08, and my favorite is the 4th phase 39:52

O GOD(of war) YEEEEEEEEEEES
Punchy smashy time be going hard tho
epic
This is awesome, like Thor's one
Can you make a ''remix'' with all the main villain mix? Thor, Badur and Odin? would be amazing
5:20 Honestly, the punchy syncing with the beat is damn good ngl.
the chapter descriptions do it for me 😆
Son super divertidos los subtítulos que colocas jajajaja
Hermano, espero sigas con esto. Esto lleva muchas horas de trabajo, y con el tiempo y mucha paciencia, serás recompensado
The best villainous theme from "God of War"
7:50 this part just sounds like fast erratic insanity, Bear really did a good job at making a theme that truly represented who Baldur was
Ngl Baldur out of all the norse Gods was my favorite
He felt the most imposing.
Even Thor (except at the beginning.) in Ragnarök didn’t feel this threatening as a enemy.
This is why i kinda hate the fact that they only decided to make 2 norse era games and not make it 3 cause then they could have fleshed out and put more focus on Thor in the 2nd and make Odin much more of a formidable game in a 3rd installment.
My favorite part is when Baldur said "Fine, my Turn... it's Balding time" and Balded all over Kratos
19:15 this part in latam dub is so funny to hear Baldur just laugh at that, I know this is english but maybe it worth the shot... think so .-.
Considerando el estado mental de Baldur (no tiene), es totalmente capaz
When they go full Unstoppable Force/Immovable Object on each other in that first fight to the point the earth beneath them splits...it was like in Ragnarok when the Leviathan Axe and Mjolnir meet except in the flesh. So fucking cool. Ragnaroks Thor fights were rather underwhelming in comparison to the Baldur fights in my opinion.
Balding time
1:50 i always wanted to know this part of the damn music!
Unfortunately most game cutscene music tracks today don’t have an official title
29:27 epic as hel
Best GOW villain theme imo, even better than Thors
@@Vayne_Solidor 100% agreed. Ost version of the all father was realy downgraged, but at least they added some good sections, combining that with the game version = perfect. And thor 4th phase in the first fight slaps
Deliverance sounds really small when you compare it to Thor's theme (edit: I take it back, I've went through a period of time where I found Baldur awesome cuz he's skinny like me but really strong and his backstory is tragic and his rage is justified, not his actions Deliverance is an awesome track that's just as good as Thor's except Baldur's sounds unhinged, crazy and sad at the same time)
the mix is so hard that baldure fell headfirst to mistletoe
7:51 I would like to hear it inside me the next time I fight with all my strength
SNOW...
19:36 I like how this didn’t break the shield, but Thor did
Any chance of doing a Faye suite?
Ye
Can you make an mix of magni and modi Soundtrack
the time stamps are fucking killing me lol
This theme plays when I fight with someone.
The "Kratos Chasing Baldur" stretch is legit some of the best music I've ever heard from a video game
A mix so hard, even Baldur could feel it.
But I thought Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical?
@@Vayne_Solidor
But what about musical?
@@Vayne_Solidor aye, but how about emotional and psychological damage?
Baldur seems to be very susceptible to that.
