    The 2011-2016 Town & Country models were the most underrated minivans of the “post-minivan” era. We bought a 2016 brand-new and enjoyed its utility, versatility, power and faithful service until selling it recently to a friend. Granted, we did have to get the transmission rebuilt around 93,000 miles or so. That said, it cost thousands less when new than comparably equipped vans, and when stowing the seats, it was like having a truck with a covered bed. We miss it.

    If you skip step 2 on the rear seats the 2 rear seats turn into rear facing seats so if you go to the drive in you can back onto your spot and watch the movie sitting on a rear bench seat or they can be for tailgating. I had one of these and miss it. I regret not buying another over the Dodge Journey the other half wanted.

      I bought a 2013 3 weeks ago same color also. I share the same sentiments as you. I has amenities of much more expensive vehicles. I still dj a little and it makes for the perfect vehicle to load up a couple of speakers and an amp. I love it. This is my second one in 5 years also same color until someone to-boned me in the 2010 I had.

    The 3.3 and 3.8 V6 were overhead valve units with the cam in the block that date back to 1990. The 4.0L V6 was a SOHC engine and was a larger version of the 3.5L unit that was used in the LH and 1st gen Pacifica. I think it was in 2011 that all those engines switched to the 3.6L and the other ones weren't available anymore. You're right to not trust that 6 speed... they finally fix all the bugs on the 4 speed and replace it with this thing and (of course) there's issues again.

    • @aenoymotors
      @aenoymotors Před rokem

      @Brian Lee I don't know enough about it to give you a good answer but I'd say it's probable. I do know they're plagued with issues and have zero resale value so I've avoided them.

    I like these minivans. My grandparents had a 2008 one of these, a pre-facelift model in that late-00s Chrysler metallic light blue. Very comfortable, though the leather was hard and the armrests were all an inch too low. Theirs had the 3.8 V6 that was weirdly sporty and would hold first gear out to 4000RPM. It drove like a big Cadillac and had tons of room even with all seats up. At night there was a button that would turn on green neon inside the overhead console. They didn't drive it much and it was mainly used for road trips so apart from a TPMS sensor failing it never had any problems during the six years they owned it. I think I like the pre-facelift Indiglo gauges and interior more. It's a shame Chrysler replaced the Town & Country name they'd been using since the 1940s with the Pacifica nameplate that was created for a meh 00s crossover.

    • @bwofficial1776
      @bwofficial1776 Před rokem +1

      My grandfather worked for Chrysler so my grandmother always had a well-optioned Chrysler Town & Country when I was growing up. The last one they bought was an '08 Touring Signature Edition in that great Chrysler late-00s metallic light blue. Very comfortable, tons of room, and surprisingly sporty. It didn't get driven much and was mainly used as a road-trip car so my grandfather traded it in once my grandmother stopped driving. I liked that van. The only gripe I had was that the armrests were all an inch or two too low.

    • @CalebCissna
      @CalebCissna Před rokem

      @@bwofficial1776 Both have about 150,000 miles. I know the older red one has 146k and change as we’re currently visiting them and borrowing it. No issues from either van other than typical Dodge/Chrysler key malfunction on the 2012 (we call it a ghost key - random doors and trunk will be open sometimes) and I just discovered rust on both vans.

    My Grandma has a 2016 Town and Country, but it's been a real pain. The transmission went out around 121k and the replacement transmission is now going out as well. The passenger sliding door quit working years ago and nobody can seem to fix it. The infotainment center doesn't work. Just a blank white screen. It's a shame because it was great for road trips when it was first purchased. But it didn't age well at all. Wish she woulda bought a Sienna or an Odyssey instead.

    probably the comfiest steering wheel chrysler ever made... so soft and squishy! I had a bunch of this generation T&C for rentals while i was working event managment for a film festival. I would pop the air box cover turn off the traction control and had a blast making that v6 sing.

    I found almost this exact same year/model last November used with only 40K miles (no leather seats which I actually prefer), I had to get it. I love these vans, this is my third one that replaced my 2005 that was still kicking. I also had a 2010 that unfortunately got totaled in an accident. I don't know why minivans sell worse than SUVs, the utility of these are so much better. When you fold all of the seats into the floor you get a completely flat cargo area that can hold 4x8 sheets of plywood or drywall easily and still close the hatch. Most pickups sold now can't even do that with the tailgate up. I only have two kids so I keep the third row flat most of the time and we can hold tons of stuff for trips.

      the vinyl style leather seats are the common go to instead of "real leather". It just is so much more durable and not needing leather conditioning at least once a year. Real leather is great in many applications, but kind of sucks in cars.
