Music video by Ben Folds Five performing Song for the Dumped (from Sessions at West 54th). (C) 2001 Epic Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment vevo.ly/0lKl1p
Darren Jessee is amazing. He's not just a killer drummer (and I'm saying that as a drummer myself) he also co-wrote some of BF5's best tracks. And he plays guitar and sings with his own band, Hotel Lights. He deserves a lot more credit than he's received, I think.
Got chased around a karaoke stage singing this song by a 50 yr old woman swatting at me. I think possibly because of the lyrics, but my singing is awful too. So that's probably it.
Thank you for posting this track! I originally found this video here on CZcams many years ago and it disappeared about 5 years ago(perhaps you obtained the rights to it). This is my favorite of the early performances!!
Wait a second...i never noticed this. Why does ben have two bandages on his index and middle finger on his right hand?? 00:52 when he adjusts the mic in the closeup on his face.
His drummer is just bad ass. The whole band is bad ass.
The most badass power trio
Ben actually majored in percussion at UNCG. 🥁
Darren!
Agreed!
This is the most vicious, unhinged amazing fucking band I’ve ever seen live in concert and I saw the original Pantera three times.
This DVD is one of my cherished possessions.
Same here
Amen.
0:30
Dude dancing in the background is my spirit animal.
The drum fills are INSANE
And the bass solo is one of the most face-melting things in rock history, and it's one bar long.
3 legendary musicians right there
Three out of five ain't bad
0:54 is possibly the best bass moment of Ben Folds Five imo. Absolutely crazy
and @2:44
also crazy we both decided to vibe out on some BFF today
The cameraman missed a few of the important bass parts lol I was thinking...I'm not a bass player, but switch to his hands!!
lol...with the stool at the end.
Awesome.
lmao there intro was basically every primus song, great song
first thing i thought too was primus

@@nicelydunwell5681 les is great as ever goddammit. Jamband primus is best primus
Can we talk about Sledge on the bass on this song? Holy Hell!
Ben Folds.. My old dorm next door neighbor… 🎹 🥁 🎤
Were you there when he threw his drums into the lake ?

The classical pianist in me is screaming WHAT IS BEN DOING TO THAT PIANO?!
I still love BF5, though. :D
I love the break down
This was Our Song.
That must have been quite the relationship! :D
You were doomed from the start
I wonder if anyone from these performances actually became a fan and they weren't before.
I saw them at Lollapalooza in '96 and became a fan instantly.
Me.
Meeeeeeeee! ✋🏽
Great performance of a great song. Sound guy probably had a heart attack though
Sometimes as a sound man this is what you want to happen
Is it just me or was there a static spark on the bass? Lol (when he's touching the lead)
Huevos he has Talent also great lyricist great keyboard player great voice a true gem in the bucket of sand
His piano tuner had a heart attack after watching this video.

Just a a tremendous fucking band!
Must have been epic
At 4:04 what is the drummer mouthing?
Does Ben use that melotica cause I always see it but never see him play it
Check out Stephen's Last Night in Town from this same recording. It's on this channel as well.
Losing my edge....
does this mean what i think it does or have i seen to much brain rot 😭
Wait a second...i never noticed this. Why does ben have two bandages on his index and middle finger on his right hand?? 00:52 when he adjusts the mic in the closeup on his face.
I'd have to guess from glissandos. Those things will rip open your cuticles
The piano was so abused. I'm sure Ben paid a lot for it tho...
I think it was his own piano as far as I know. He used to bring his own piano to BF5 concerts.
Whaat fuzz on that bass?
Green russian pi big muff. I use one myself and I absolutely love it
@@prestonjones7775 duh theres it is at 1:22. Guitarist thats looking for bass tones for recording. Thanks
