And did I say anything about the match? Last time I checked, the company sucking wwe's dick by putting every title on former wwe guys and turning into a second tna instead of pushing local talent has nothing to do with the quality of a match.
I like how during his victory speech, Austin says something, then throws the mic, realises that he has to say more, picks up the mic, and then drops the mic again before leaving
Honestly I missed this version of Austin Aries, I grew up with him in TNA and I loved his character back then. And the old TNA theme to boot? 5 stars

I think they did this because of Marty's schedule. With Mary unable to be apart of future events for Defiant on the regular they needed to give the Title to Aries who can carry the belt for a few months before dropping it to someone to put over big.

$ and a half stars for that? Compared to what, a dumpster fire, so many slow moments and botches and rushed story. Not great at all.
Hopefully Ridgeway turns on Aries, and Aries puts him over big. Ridgeway is going to have a huge 2018.
A few botches and dull spots. I would give this 3 1/2 Stars.

Austin Aries was a huge star in both TNA and RoH(albeit to a lesser extent.) WWE had no idea of the amount of talent on their hands, and completely wasted him. I agree that he shouldn't have won the world title in his first match, and with a little buildup, it could have been far more impactful. However, I can understand their reasoning from a marketing perspective, because this title change will certainly bring more eyes to the product.
