    I've stayed at the Gracery several times. Smallish modern rooms but very nice and quiet, and the bathroom size is excellent. A lot of Japanese hotels, especially business class, have bathrooms that are so small you can get claustrophobia.
    The main entrance to the hotel is actually on the other side of the building from Godzilla where there's a parking roundabout where you can catch a taxi or get dropped off, and also where the Shinjuku WE 100 yen circular bus stops.
    There are 2 walkways on the Godzilla side filled with restaurants that also lead to the hotel entrance where you catch the elevator.

      @@cakeswithfaces @Cakes with Faces 6:17 ~, as for the humidifier, we need it (maybe essential stuff) in winter. When it gets dryer and dryer, everyone's throat becomes parched more and more, around Tokyo. One of the reasons that a lot of Japanese put on the mask is preventing from their thirsty or catching cold. Back then twenty or more years ago they should provide a kettle on a heater/stove for each room. The steam kept its moisture properly. Instead, it snows so crazily on the cities that locate Japan See side (opposite side of Tokyo). BTW, did you know the great snow walls at Tateyama in Toyama prefecture? That much snow fall causes over 20m (65 ft) height walls. Some tourist made a wonderful CZcams show about it. The URL:

      @@cakeswithfaces You're welcome,. And for the details, plz check out the Wikipedia which URL is below. ++ I guess the heaters make it dryer as well, -- you got the point . Because of the dried-up wind from the Japan Sea in winter, lots of fires are caused around Tokyo every winter. Due to so-called the roof of Japan--- high (10,00ft class) mountains, much moistured clouds from the Japan Sea are fixed over the area (including the great snow walls) every day and almost all of them are changed to heavy snowfall there. As a result, people around Tokyo should accept only chilly dried-up wind and need humidifiers.

    I stayed there in 2015, in a single room. It was certainly "cosy", but wasn't all that much more expensive than other hotels in the area. It's odd. Japan has a reputation for being really expensive, but it's certainly cheaper than the USA, which doesn't have that reputation. I paid £288 for 4 nights, although the exchange rate was better then.

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  Před 2 lety

      It's a very short walk to Shinjuku Station - an ideal location!
      You're right in the middle of Shinjuku with so much going on - lots of places to eat and shops. Just watch out in Kabukicho, immediately around the hotel - if you're approached by touts just ignore them and keep walking. Don't let anyone convince you to go into their bar as there have been occasions when tourists have had their drinks spiked and had their cards/money stolen. It's not an unsafe area at all - it's bustling and really full of life, with lots going on even late at night. It's only the dodgy bars that are unsafe.
      Shinjuku Station is huge, and it's very well connected so you can get around easily. Even if you need to get to the other side of Tokyo, you can hop on the Chuo Line and it's very convenient. My favourite place to stay!

      @@patriciawong5270 Kabukicho is the red light district, and the "bad area" of Tokyo, if there is one. However, crime levels in Japan are very low. The only time you're likely to have any trouble is if you let touts entice you into their dodgy bars. There are cases where tourists have had their drinks spiked and their money stolen, or had huge bills to pay at the end of the night. If you ignore the touts, it's fine. Walking around the streets is perfectly safe - I stayed there again this year. There are many dodgy girls bars, etc, so you may see signs for them - it's not dangerous, just maybe not a "family" area. Here's a video I made about the subject - it's a few years old but still valid: czcams.com/video/rjUeeKoiwFY/video.html

    Thanks for the great video! I will also stay in that hotel.
    OT: You said you came from Osaka with luggage. So I guess you took the subway from Tokyo Station to Shinjuku Station. If yes, is it possible to travel with big luggage (like hold baggage) on the Tokyo subway? Thank you so much!

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  Před rokem +1

      I loved this hotel! Good choice :-) I carried my luggage with me. You can take luggage on the Tokyo subway. There isn't an area for suitcases, so you have to just keep it with you, or stand with it in the standing area. It can be difficult, as some stations are large and involve a lot of walking, so try and avoid busy times if you can.
      If you don't want to carry your luggage, there's a service called Takkyubin for sending your luggage two your next hotel: www.kanpai-japan.com/travel-guide/takkyubin-sending-luggage

      It miiiight say only hotel guests can go up the life to get to the lobby, etc, which is where the bar/cafe is. But usually anyone can go to hotel restaurants, so if you're in the area it's worth a try!

      I think it was a pull-down blind at this one. Usually hotels in Japan have black-out curtains (I usually leave them slightly open as I'm not used to it, and to help adjust to the time zone and make sure I wake up in the morning!), so they probably are black-out but I can't say for certain.

      @cakeswithfaces  Před 4 lety

      You'll love it! Perfect location and a lovely room - plus Godzilla! I'd recommend getting the train from the airport. The route depends on whether you're arriving at Narita or Haneda. The train system in Japan is excellent. You'll need to get to Shinjuku Station - which is the actually the busiest station in the world. It's huge! But just keep calm, follow the signs and you'll be fine. (Everyone gets lost in there at least once but the signs are in English!) From there it's just a short walk to the hotel.
