Good video but having read up on these beautiful plants it states really poisonous to humans and animals? Am I reading this right? It also says wear gloves when planting and do not touch your face.Can anyone advise? Many thanks. Marilynn
I read this also, and find it worrisome as I have one in my garden that was planted by the previous owner. They didn't mention anything about it. It bloomed this season, and really caught my attention, it's so beautiful! We also have deer and small wildlife in the area, so I do worry. I'll be doing more research for sure. They are indeed poisonous and can kill you. Where I lived when growing up there was K. latifolia everywhere in the woods on our property, luckily even though I had(and still have) a habit of ripping leaves off of plants I never was poisoned by mountain laurel
we have a mountain laurel that has grown and now blocks our view of a mountain almost entirely. It was three trunks growing from the root. It is ~ 30-40 ft tall. All of the leaves and flowers are at the top ~ 1/3 or so... ~ 15-20 ft above the ground. I don't know how to cut it. Do I cut it down to the ground so it can start again? Do I cut off just the tallest branches on top? Please advise, thanks!
