  • ThePrint team visited the Nalanda University campus to see how it has grown over the years. Its journey originally started in 2010 when the foundation of the university was laid, it then started its first batch in 2014. The university was operating from a campus in Delhi for a long time and later shifted to a make-shift campus in Rajgir, before finally starting operations in its new campus in 2019.

An important question for both India and the entire Buddhist world is ' What can we learn from the destruction of Nalanda University at the hands of foreign invaders? '
The answers lies in establishing Buddhist Defense Leagues. Had a Kshatriya manned Buddhist Defence Corps been guarding the Nalanda University it's destruction at the hands of 200 or so foreign invaders could have been easily averted. If you are unable to defend your land and Heritage you forfeit the right to claim them as your own. Warriors i.e., Kshatriya community, are at times necessary to protect yourself, your family and property. If the Buddhist world fails to learn this lesson from the tragedy of what happened to Nalanda University, history might get repeated to the detriment of the current generation of Buddhists. The danger of being overrun again still lurks.
