    ADVERTISING
    As content creation is our business and how we earn our living you will see advertising in our content from time to time in different forms:
    We are very selective about what brands we work with on paid/sponsored content creation and as a rule we don't work with any brand that we don't already or wouldn't spend our own money on. We are incredibly proud of all our brand partnership content and it will always be disclaimed in the most transparent way possible so you know exactly what is with 'AD' on screen and in the description box. If the entire video is an 'AD' this will be in the title of the video.
    Because we don't work with a large amount of brands on sponsored content we do rely on our CZcams ad revenue. Any adverts you watch during the duration of our videos will earn us a small percentage of 'ad revenue' from CZcams and we really appreciate you watching the adverts in full (and not skipping them), but only if and when you can. We also know that time is precious so no pressure.
    We also use 'Affiliate Links' in the description boxes below our videos and if you make a purchase via these links we will earn a small percentage of commission depending on the sale amount. Not all links are affiliate links but just assume they are.
    Any items/links marked with '[AD - Pr products]' are products which have been 'gifted' from the respective brands without a contract for sponsored content. This is still classed as a form of advertising because nothing is ever "free", brands are gaining exposure to our audience by us featuring them, so these items are marked as 'AD-Pr product' in the description box but we are under no obligation to feature these items. And as with our paid content, we never accept gifting/pr products from brands that we don't already or wouldn't spend our money on. If we have received a press discount on anything featured this will also be disclaimed.

    The timing! I actually have a DISSH review planned very soon so loved seeing your take. One thing a lot of people outside of Australia might not know is that DISSH used to be one of those fast fashion retailers - looked SO different to the aesthetic is has now. Around 2019/2020 they did a complete overhaul of the brand image which has totally worked in their favour as they are doing so well. I have to say, I’m shocked when you mentioned the prices (in USD) - the Norah Pants are 99 AUD (so basically 50 GBP). Living in Australia I find most of the prices pretty standard and in line with what I’d expect at that price point quality wise; but even then their stuff can be hit or miss - no two pieces are created equal. Also, avoid their knitwear that isn’t 100% natural fibres. I’ve ordered a couple to see in the past and they are not it đŸ˜…đŸ«Ł

    • @EmmaHill
      @EmmaHill  Pƙed 18 dny +12

      Yeh I’ve often done the the currency conversion from Australian dollars and it’s gutting to see how much it costs in comparison to what we have to pay. We all need an Australian mate who can order for us đŸ€ŁđŸ™ŒđŸŒ

    • @mademoisellejaime
      @mademoisellejaime Pƙed 18 dny +4

      It looks like they just do a straight currency swap to USD - so they’re getting an extra 50% revenue which I suppose possibly more than makes up for the free shipping with DHL 🧐 (before duties and taxes - ouch!!). You have some great retailers in the UK so like you said, you’re a bit spoilt for alternatives (and actually for the price, there’s quite a few other brands which I think are great - Faithfull and Posse being two!)

    • @EmmaHill
      @EmmaHill  Pƙed 18 dny +1

      @@mademoisellejaimeI used to love Faithful but they do a lot of colour and prints and that’s not so much my thing any more, however I definitely rate their quality on my purchases from them. A few years ago I did order some items from Posse but the fit was not for me, really oversized even in the smallest sizes and I’m not even the smallest of people 🙈 I love their aesthetic but have been put off from the purchases I have made and wasted money on 😕

    I really really appreciate the honest and thorough review. The items all looked good on you but for the price and seemingly inconsistent quality, I’m just not convinced by DISSH. Between M&S, Uniqlo and other more readily available stores (for those of us in the UK), I think I can find all those items for similar quality and a cheaper price

    • @EmmaHill
      @EmmaHill  Pƙed 18 dny +7

      I couldn’t agree more. If I lived in Australia I’d probably be ordering more with the ability of easier, cheaper returns but it’s so pricey and so many brands available readily in the UK are doing the Dissh style this season đŸ™ŒđŸŒ

    Spot on review Emma. I ordered from Dissh once, never again. I found the whole process costly, from start to end. And to make matters worse, the quality wasn't good for the price. Every item I purchased was too big and not flattering. At the end, I had to return,, as it would've cost more to sell them myself than to swallow the paid customs charges. There are far better quality & designs in the UK & European market. So save your cash.

  • @UKChloeT
    @UKChloeT Pƙed 18 dny +10

    Dissh has some great styles and yes it is very hit and miss on the quality. I'm a Brit living here in Australia and really missed my usual shops from the UK upon arrival, but now things have got better here in-stores and shipping. I thought that we were getting royally ripped here but after watching you video and calculating the cost here for those items and converting to UK sterling you after all cost are paying more than double for those items 😼which really shocked me.
    I love watching you Chanel and was recently influenced to go into Uniqlo and get one of the padded vest tops. I never shop in there but love the black vest top I got and great value for $40 and a great fit too. We are totally the opposite in our seasons so thought they might not stock it, I did want the stripes but unfortunately they didn't have. Thanks again for you videos they really give a great honest explanation and fit on the items you feature đŸ„°

  • @breestevensplanalifeyoulov4203

    I find the exact same in reverse when buying from the UK/ US and Europe. Sometimes once you add the extra charges its best to order from home. Being in Australia means Ive been able to get some great Dissh bargains but not some of the European styles Id love.

    This is the most informative and transparent review I have ever seen. I loved the Dissh dresses but when I came across local UK brands that do very similar dresses I stopped buying from them. And also one thing I didn't like about the brand is when you buy something from their sale section you can't return the items which is not great. Last time when I ordered from their sale section, the fit wasn't right and I couldn't return it so I ended up having something I don't want.

    After seeing you in the skort and thinking, “Wow. I wish I had gorgeous long legs like Emma,” I had a little chuckle when you spoke about seeing the clothes on a normal body, not a model body. I have ordered from Dissh (I’m in the U.S.) and not had to pay customs. I have the Roberts skirts (lined linen skirts) and 1 Rowan skirt in beige . The Rowan is not lined and is see through so I was disappointed with the quality. I’m 5” 6” and all these skirts cover my ankles so will need to hem them for a more polished look. I have not ordered again because of the hassle of making returns. Thank you for reinforcing my resolve to look elsewhere for similar items. It was great to get your opinions on this brand, Emma! I ordered a handful of items from them about 2 years ago. Like you, I love the aesthetic, but I was mostly disappointed. I am about a size larger than you with what I'd call a medium size bust and the Banks vest was a disaster on me. My chest was too large, pulling the fabric out and showing the sides of my bra (armholes too big). What you alluded to, with lack of darts and structure, was a big problem for me. I get very frustrated when the cut of the armholes shows too much underarm or bra. The matching trousers were lovely but super high waisted on me (at 5'7"). I ended up keeping only 2 items, both dresses. One is the strapless white dress you own which I mostly like; the other was a double-breasted sleeveless mini dress, which has the same problem of armhole too large, almost showing sideboob 😭 Also I find the linen a bit scratchy in hot weather. I did return things (from the US) and while it took some time, I got the refund, and it was still quicker than I expected... about 3 weeks. HA! I realized that ordering from them was more hassle than it was worth and unsubscribed from the emails to try to forget đŸ™…đŸ»â€â™€Love the new waistcoat/trouser ensemble ❀

    Im Australian but live in the US. I have a lot of Dissh garments, and i adore the brand. Ive bought mostly from the sale section, or picked nwt on ebay. For the 149 pricepoint imo, purchasing the ada or reign dress is an example of more substance than say the minidress, that will go into the sale section. My most recent purchase was the ophelia crocheted maxi dress that comes with a viscose slip dress liner that can be worn separately. I paid 78 usd in the sale. I cant wait to wear it and the other items I have in my wardrobe this summer! The only thing I would say about Dissh is that if youvare under 5'5" then maxi dress length is a bit of an issue.. For you in the US you’ll be paying in your own currency so you won’t get the conversion charge and the pound is currently very weak so unfortunately here in the UK we’re not getting as good of a price as you guys 😭 I totally agree with you on buying from the sale, my older dresses and skirts were bought in the sale and I’m happy with the quality of most of those but I still find it hit and miss. I just wish there was some consistency.

    I think it’s applaudable to try and deliver a thorough review. In fairness to the brand I think all watching need to consider it’s a review through a British/EU lens. I’m an Australian and do purchase a lot from DISSH and in our market they are on par if not cheaper than many of what Brit’s would call our ‘high street’ brands. The points Emma makes on eco friendly/carbon footprint are absolutely fair - AUS is an island nation and because of the tyranny of distance everything costs more here. A counterpoint is that AUS is a developed nation and if there’s a brand producing its clothes here you can be sure it’s not being g done in a sweat shop (ie human slavery). Hope that is a helpful addition to the review points in the video. All said - it’s a great video for starting conversations about considered and ethical purchasing

    Thanks for the video. I had actually ordered from dissh from the uk for the first time just before I saw your video. Three points worth noting is 1. Customs charges only apply if the goods are £135 or more; and 2. If you order from the uk on the US website it defaults to US sizing. 3. They charge a flat fee of 20 usd for returns. I ordered a 10 thinking it was Australian but it was US Size which is actually uk 14 so too big. I expected customs charges but there weren’t any as my order was £100.

    Funny - I happened to be in Australia, and staying at Bondi (where their flagship store is) when reading this. I loved the aesthetic walking past and also liked the story behind it (the brand was started by the mother and handed down to the daughter who completely revamped it), but it was your review that encouraged me to go back and buy a few pieces locally while I could! Wouldn't have ordered from the States but it's quite reasonable here. Thanks for the great and timely review, which helped me pick wisely.

      Yes their sales are great, a lot of my older Dissh dresses and the skirts were bought in the sale and they often do an ‘extra 20% off sale’ which then takes another chunk off but by this time some sizes have already gone 🙈

    I agree with you about returns being problematic if you don't live in Australia. If you live in the United States I don't recommend purchasing from them. I ordered and returned and I don't quite understand their math but I ended up loosing over 30% of my money after the refund was done, and this does not include customs as I was not charged for customs because my order was small. If I had been charged customs on top of everything else I would have gotten even less back. I am not saying anything bad about them, this is just how it worked out for me. I'm glad you made this video, it is very timely.

    Two main things stop me from ordering from some brands, neither of which is to do with their aesthetic or quality! One is that they don't send ddp (duty paid), as while I expect to pay customs, I object to the high administration cost (ÂŁ10 -15) when I'm ordering ddu (duty unpaid), the other is the returns process when costly and no chance of getting customs charges back.
    I live in Denmark, and being petite I order petite items from the UK, as they're way easier to source than in the EU (you'd think Germany and France would have a reasonable selection, but I've not yet discovered where). A lot of companies send ddp, and surprisingly, it doesn't seem to size of company related - some small companies send ddp, some larger ones don't. I always, always check their returns policy, so I know what I'm getting myself into. Some you pay for delivery but not returns, for others it's the opposite. A lot of UK based companies use GlobalE for their deliveries and returns (I've had zero issues), but the t&c's vary from company to company. With ddp, the customs charges are part of the price, which may be slightly higher than the UK price, but usually, clothing is cheaper in the UK than the equivalent in Denmark.

The older dresses with the pleated strapless bodies look so beautiful especially on you. Luckily I am a sewer so can pretty much copy most things 😉, the biggest challenge is finding good quality fabrics to sew with. And I am also an inveterate #secondhandbutgrand demon! Takes patience and a bit of skill and detective work to find specific items but so worth it and nothing beats the rush of finding something that was once hideously expensive for a bargain (hunt off season 😉). RE customs for UK customers: if its ÂŁ135 or under you don't pay customs. I've found it can work out cheaper to wait for their 20% off or sale and then split your orders up to be below the threshold.
    Also, if you return, you can claim to be reimbursed for your customs charge for the item you're returning (a bit of a faff but possible).

    I love the style of dissh but find the quality very hit or miss. I ordered the norah pants and they shrunk massively after one wash (cold wash, air dry)- they went from dragging on the floor to sitting above my ankles, totally unwearable. Luckily they let me return them, but still disappointing. I've also found the sizing to be inconsistent (e.g. one size 8 will fit well while another will be too small or too big). Some items, especially the tank tops and other jersey/knit items are very thin and not worth the money at all. All in all, a good source of style inspiration, but not somewhere I'd shop regularly. Thanks for your great review Emma, always appreciate your honesty :)

      The full priced items for those of us buying in US dollars outside the US are really a lot and that’s before any additional charges. That said they do have some good sales and most of my older pieces were bought in the sale and were definitely more reasonably priced for the overall quality. The risk you run is that certain sizes and styles sell fast in the sale so there’s not always much choice by the time you get to these ‘reasonable prices’ 🙃

  • @DanielleStahlBabyPortraiture

    I live in Australia so often go to Dissh. You’re spot on with the quality issue. Even in store the linen pieces are so inconsistent. The same size and item can fit very different from item to item. I think the issue is that they do make things very cheap but get it over the line with their aesthetic and the fact that it’s right on trend. It’s frustrating because they could be so good if they upped the quality!!

    Great video Emma! I live in Australia and everyone here is crazy for Dissh. Tbh I own heaps of pieces from them which I love, but the fit/sizing in some of the items is horrendous and inconsistent. If I order two pants in the same size one would fit and other one would not get past my tights. How can a brand that 'calibre' have such inconsistency? They also opened a store in Sydney and every time I go, the items look so much cheaper than any of the photos online, I always try stuff on and leave empty handed. But I cannot believe the hefty prices you mentioned from overseas shipping... definitely not worth it.

    • @EmmaHill
      @EmmaHill  Pƙed 17 dny

      As I said their marketing is soooo good. They’ve done such a great job of creating that cool, laid back but beautiful aesthetic. Everything from their models and locations to their photography and even font choice. It’s so appealing to a lot of people, but yes sadly ‘inconsistent’ is definitely the theme of the brand. Inconsistent sizing and quality from my experience and many others. If I were in Australia, whether it be living there or just visiting I’d definitely order more as it is priced differently in Australian dollars and costs much less than for us Europeans to buy it and the returns process is easier/quicker. I love the items I have, even the ones which developed faults, because they are so classic and wearable every Summer but it’s just a risk when living over here to order from them when we incur extra charges and have to pay for returns. We run the risk of losing out on money and it’s not just a few quid 😕

    1= they are size inclusive (up to size 50)

    Again for that size inclusiveness I just said.
    2 pairs :
    1= a pair of straight leg mid waist ( 💯cotton) like a Levi's jeans this
    2= 97 +3 % elasticity in the jeans
    When you have a bigger bum than you want to backpockets to be bit bigger so your bum looks bit smaller (optical illusion 😉)
    But 20y ago even 10y ago I didn't bought h&m jeans bc the backpockets were small and my bum looked HUGE )
    And last week I bought for the first time in almost 10y 3 pieces from Zara)

    I actually ordered from them whilst I was in Australia on an extended trip and after a week passed since placing my order and them not shipping it, I contacted them to ask when it would be dispatched and they then told me that the item was actually now out of stock and that I could choose something else to be sent instead? I asked for a refund but at the time I did think it was odd that I'd had to contact them asking why it hadn't been shipped and also that I was being offered something else rather than just refunding me?! That being said this may be a one-off customer service experience and not something that happens regularly but it's still put me off ever ordering from them again, especially from the UK.

    I’m no Eco Warrior either, but apart from the wasted money, it hardly seems sustainable to order all the way from Australia for middle-of-the-road basics we can buy in M &S, Zara or Arket. There’s a fuel crisis, two wars an incipient recession, and we have everything in UK we could possibly want. Thrifting them or just going to the high street for almost identical styles, without the questionably hip Dissh label, seem the best options. There is no Planet B!
