Low budget. 1980s FX. But the story is clear. The pacing is good. I enjoyed it.

@@Gary-Seven-and-Isis-in-1968 - Interesting, and the description says 1994. Another site said: Release date: March 21, 1991. The date on the back of an original VHS says 1988. Maybe this is the digitally enhanced version. According their site: "After a successful debut at the Cannes Film Festival, OUTERWORLD was televised on the Sci-Fi Channel in the 90s under the title of STAR QUEST: BEYOND THE RISING MOON. Originally shot on film, this upgraded version of the movie has been digitally re-mastered, re-edited and tightened considerably. It has also been re-scored; re-mixed and has had 70% of its visual effects digitally enhanced. Several new scene embellishments and visual effects sequences have been added expanding the scale of this outer space adventure."

Very well crafted sci-fi action film with excellent CGI and quite good acting. It's very refreshing to watch a film where every actor can clearly ennunciate their lines. Nowadays, most actors don't speak clearly. I guess they spend more time learning how to emote, and not much on learning how to present their lines clearly and precisely. Good to see a strong female lead, too. And one that's strong all throughout the film as well. Well done!

Really liked this. The cast very good. Story was creative. The whole thing a joy to watch. There was enough ships fighting it out. Refreshing that in it wasn't just CG fest. I want to see it again! Thanks

The absolute definition of what a B-Grade Sci-Fi Movie should be - Awesome! I think Philip K. Dick would be proud, surprised it has not been optioned for a remake...puts a lot of recent sci-fi / action movies to shame

A pinch of Star Wars, a dash of Blade Runner, add a cup of decent special effects and sets, mix well.

The sets and models were great especially for the time. They didn't seem to copy any series or movie. Very original and so was the script. I Liked it!
Best movie ever. Special effects set curve in many ways. Tracy Davis etc al great as well.
The best independent sci fi movie I know. Strangely enough the recently added CGI shots hardly improve it.
The script could do with improvements too.

Bit of a surprise, something about this kept the story rolling along, and it sure wasnt the budget. Much better than I would have expected from a B movie. the acting wasnt fantastic but he characters seemed to be accessible, so no problems there. This was okay👍

Good movie. It's low budget but tells a cool story. There are more free Philip Cook movies out there. I watched one and am looking for more.

This was a surprising good movie to watch and i remember that i have seen it two times before and the people who are reading this be sure to se it for it is a good story and Are not all that CGI. So i will Suggest that if you will see a great movie then it's this one that will give you a good story and a SUPRISING ending.
If there are more of those hidden movie gem's then it would be a nice way to use the time and fell that it was over so fast that it was like the time just was gone in no time.

Nice looking android. (Tracy Davis) Aww... but can she learn to love? Fun movie. Must have been made just after the 'Buck Rogers' tv series. The old CRTs and rudimentary graphics are a hoot. I rate this as a "B" grade Classic. A welcome break from the mainstream.
Woah, I remember seeing part of this movie as a kid. About two or three scenes have been stuck clearly in my memory all the time until today, and every now and then I wonder what movie that was and what it was about. And now I watched it, and now I know. Thanks!
Despite the laughably bad imagined tech, this is a good film and it has survived thirty-five years.

@@frankmccann29 I reckon such a long time ago people had to act because there were so few really good special effects and that's what makes for a good film, along with a clever idea. Even more so for very old films, although some haven't lasted.

I remember seeing this back in the day...before CGI. Nothing beats a late '80s - early '90s sci-fi movie where the effects are done either in -camera or with the Video Toaster (the grand-daddy of all CGI computers) and the ships and buildings were scale miniatures. Even the actors are good. This movie is a classic.
Another good example of human greed. Until this greed is eliminated from society, we will continue to be a primitive war like species. No wonder other life forms want nothing to do with us. Well done.
A bit of greed drives us to access more than our competitors. But ethics and morals is necessary to temper it. An atheist society has none, unless a mere convenience.
We are extinctioning ourself by way of greed.

It was a pretty good quick entertaining movie. It would have been a good ending for them to activate the alien spaceship and it terraform the planet into a habitable place within a minute. Kind of like the ending of Total Recall

Old bad movies tend to be way better than new bad movies. The cgi for a 94' cheap tv movie is actually half way decent considering what this is

Acting was quite good, in fact parts of it was really well acted. Not a bad movie
The airplanes crashing into mountains while chasing her has been used in every movie since about 1914. However, still a decent movie.

Considering the recent news about the US military recovering alien spacecraft, this sci-fi movie is more relevant than ever. From what has been reported, the US military has been trying to reverse engineer the tech that has been found in those craft, so the premise of this movie is not as far fetched as it may seem. We also have reports that people have been killed to protect the secrets of the aliencraft, which again shows that fiction often reflects reality. Mostly it is hearsay so far, so it is hard to know the truth, but I was struck by how much this movie mirrors the recent news.
It's pretty good, other than some LOL anachronisms. (For example, even in 1994 it should have been obvious that payphones wouldn't exist by 2070.) I wonder how people in 2070 will laugh at portrayals of them from 2022? We are probably still just as clueless. It's hard to predict 50 years (or more, for this film) into the future. Nice to see a non-helpless female protagonist who isn't a ridiculous MarySue. Also nice to see a film where people in fights actually get killed. (Not that I like seeing people die, but having a firefight or dogfight where nobody dies is more unbelievable than FTL space ships.)
