Full wood sandwich lamination of 0.6mm Australian Pinewood, ensures durability and comfort in a good strength-to-weight ratio. Today’s wood is more visible in modern graphics; UV protected by digital print PVC stickers that compliment the natural grain with a really nice effect. A classy re-edition of a classic Starboard Original.

My two cents: I honestly don´t know why you guys veered away from Wood-tech. My first board was a 2011 Kode (123 liters). An amazing ride: not only did it look like a Spanish Guitar (courtesy of its visible wood veneer) it was 7kg (incredible considering its size) and felt much smaller underfoot. It was deceptively fast, And above all it was extremely durable....Happy to see you guys are reverting back to this technology which I can only assume has improved since then...
Maybe it is not the best material… but it looks cool. We like it.

Yes, there has been issues with wood tech in the past, that’s why we are covering the entire wood surface with a PVC sticker to limit the impact of UV radiation and moist.
When we checked on boards from 1998 , we realised that the lamination looked fine under the sticker area , so this is a well proven way to protect the wood
Greenwashing is common and at Starboard I believe we need to become better at sharing what our 4 person full time environmental team is doing for a living.

Calculating emissions for all activites is normal for many companies, however to plant trees in certified mangrove parks drawing down 10X more emission than we shoot up is unique.
Few companies have gone this far in terms of taking emissions serious. We have 3 million trees in the ground and there are livelihood programs attached to support local communities.
We were the first company to introduce plastic footprint reports with plastic offset programs and our own POP team has collected over 800,000 kg plastic off beaches .
I take environmental action personal, please ask me more so I can do a better job at balancing our negative impact while also become better at sharing our positive impact.
What about the balsa wood Kode boards you swept under the carpet,, absolute crap will never buy another Starboard product again.
You porduce very poor quality boards which are only for one maybe two sesons and then you must throw it in the trash and this is so not eco at all - start makes a boards which we can use for decades - that will be eco IDEA!
Allways speculated that you have a problem with your wood boards, saw a lot with mold spots where water had entered wood threw holes in outer layer, also cracks due to heating and UV-exposure. Now you put only a layer of PVC on top, ridiclous. For once PVC is a really harmfull plastic, as chlor is one of its components, nothing bio or sustainable here. It´s also not very mechanically strong, making it prone to holes and then exposing wood to saltwater, starting molding and cracking again. You also said pine doesn´t take in resin, because of density and made that into something positiv, but this is NOT positive. For protection of wood from water it would be DESIRABLE that epoxy resin enters into it. That´s one PROPER WAY to resolve wood´s problem with water disintegrating it. Actually there are whole companys whose product are just made for hindering that, like West Epoxy Systems. So why do you use PVC sheet instead of a coat of special Epoxy resin that is made UV-stabilized? Also as wood is very directionaly orientated, why not cover it with an outside lamination that is biaxial and further keeps water away from getting into wood? It seems like you learned nothing from that - PVC-sandwich replacement with balsawood - fiasko some years ago.
Is there not a layer of glass fiber on the top? It would not be a sandwich otherwise. I would assume it EPS / Fiber Glass / Wood/ Fiber Glass. Am I right? It could not take any impact otherwise...
