Bummer in the end? The entire thing was a bummer. It definitely was agony from start to finish. The writing was decent, reading great as usual. Content sucked, for me at least. If the main character had been an adult, it still would have been a downer, but it being a child was totally messed up. Wtf

My mother left my father and I when I was a kid. But l blamed everyone but her and all I wanted to do was live with her. So one day she calls and asked if I wanted to move in with her. I was elated and said yes, I was 14. As soon as I got there they started acting just like these two parents. Doing many of the same shaming and belittle techniques.They know I didn't like clowns and that the movie poltergeist scared the crap out of me. So they would wait till I was asleep and put a clown doll(4ft) in my arms looking into my face. One year of hell on earth and I went home. This story really hits home with me. All but the whole seeing dead people 😂. I love this channel!

yeah tbh the author overdid it. There's accurate portrayals of abusive families, and then there's just making out parents to be cartoonishly, absurdly evil in a way that defies any appearance of basic human decency, and the parents in this story definitely fall into the latter category. Like after the prank and the dad unironically calling him "butthurt" I couldn't really take the story seriously anymore, like it just feels like it was a written by a rebellious 14-year-old who sees their parents this way. Also, you'd think the grandparents would have a little more recognition that their grandkid was being raised by complete sociopaths like this if they supposedly care so much about his wellbeing. EDIT: okay after watching the whole thing I guess that last part isn't entirely accurate, but otherwise I stand by this.
Great narration as always! Unfortunately, it was an anticlimactic ending for me. No grand reveal, no win for the protagonist. Just a continuation of the Nameless doing his thing for almost three hours until fizz splat, it was over.
Yes the Dr is a good channel, but damn people stop clogging up the comments kissing ass, and instead comment on the story itself. It's annoying to see, basically, the same comment over and over again.
This was very James Joyce-ish except this one is easier to follow. How much or what would you give up to make intense pain stop? What was real and what was dream life? Ah nothing like child abuse with a somewhat supernatural twist to get my blood boiling, halfway through it and just disgusted with the story and parents but I can't stop listening. Doc your voice is a blessing and a curse had to pause and calm down because I could just feel the sadness and anger from the protagonist.

Well, Dr, this something I couldn’t have ever seen coming. You do us this incredible kindness by narrating such a long story, 2:42:00, and well, it fell flat. And as always, should there be an issue with the story, it isn’t ever your fault. But I can only guess that your mistake was choosing it. The real issues and blame go directly to the author, Banned In CP, for a story that left half of its listeners unable to finish. Another 25% confused when finished, and the group where I reside, the final 25% that did listen all the way through and is truly left wanting. Sure it’s amazing to have the great Dr Creepen narrate your own story, but even he can’t make chicken soup from chicken shit. (One of my Fathers favorite sayings) so bad that even the Dr was unable to save this debacle. I’ll stop there. Thanks again Dr Creepen for putting so much effort into this for our entertainment. I am sorry that it fell flat, and I’m not (by a long shot) the only one who thinks so. However your narration was great, no surprise there! But even though you did your best, the damage remains. I mean...y'all gotta think of the Good Docs position right now. Maybe he's pushed for time and thought he'd treat his people to a long narration but with a lot going on he just scanned over it and probably recognized the flaws after much work was done. Then with all the negative feedback he most likely would like to say "my bad guys...I failed to notice that it really sucks" but ya know...he really can't..because it would sound unprofessional to criticize an author that way. I surely don't envy the job he does of trying to read over an unbelievable amount of words and stories to then decide which ones to use. Imagine the time sink considering the man works a full time job outside of this. I'm not arguing with you I just happened to reply this on your comment since you were very understanding about his predicament as well. Sure it’s amazing to have the great Dr Creepen narrate your own story, but even he can’t make chicken soup from chicken shit. (One of my Fathers favorite sayings) so bad that even the Dr was unable to save this debacle. I’ll stop there.
Thanks again Dr Creepen for putting so much effort into this for our entertainment. I am sorry that it fell flat, and I’m not (by a long shot) the only one who thinks so. However your narration was great, no surprise there! But even though you did your best, the damage remains. I mean...y'all gotta think of the Good Docs position right now. Maybe he's pushed for time and thought he'd treat his people to a long narration but with a lot going on he just scanned over it and probably recognized the flaws after much work was done. Then with all the negative feedback he most likely would like to say "my bad guys...I failed to notice that it really sucks" but ya know...he really can't..because it would sound unprofessional to criticize an author that way. I surely don't envy the job he does of trying to read over an unbelievable amount of words and stories to then decide which ones to use. Imagine the time sink considering the man works a full time job outside of this. I'm not arguing with you I just happened to reply this on your comment since you were very understanding about his predicament as well. I just wanted to mention some of these hoops the Good Doc jumps through just for us. Let's hear it for the Doc! Let's give the Doc a hand! 😁

There just aren't that many stories deserving of a Dr Creepen read up for grabs on Reddit. It's almost entirely trash, if you ask me.
@Charles N. Yup definitely agreed..imagine the time it takes him to read over stories when choosing. I wish I enjoyed writing as I have some cool ideas but never have the patience to type it all out. Maybe someday.
