I have a Casio Tough Solar Wave Ceptor WVQ-500 that's about 16 years old. The battery was not getting fully charged anymore, so I changed it yesterday, and it only stopped running while the battery was removed, now it's back to full and going strong again. Amazing gear.
I've had my casio digital solar watch for about 9 years now. It has the original battery and has survived a motorcycle wreck where it drug across the road. I am a firefighter so it's been put through hell. Many days of being wet, sweaty, hot, and muddy. You name it and it's been through it probably. It is the best watch I've owned. The wrist band just now broke (rubber) so I'm headed to get a new one tomorrow. I am gonna pick up the watch your reviewing tomorrow and plan on getting many years from it. Thanks for the review.
December 2018 now and this watch is still going strong. Runs GREAT, never misses a beat. One thing I just realized the four bracelet links closest to the watch are solid stainless, so not all the bracelet links are hollow. Love this watch!!
I just ordered one to replace a stolen older G-Shock. The G-Shock MTGM900DA-8CR is supposed to be able to last 9 months in total darkness on one charge.
Cool deal... They've made millions of these by now I am sure. I can't tell you how many of these I see on peoples wrists when I am out and about. Enjoy yours, I know I am enjoying mine.
Got a used 900 probably 20+ years. Started losing the display except for a “charging” display recently. Replaced battery and hoping it will fully charge. Just recently bought a used 900DA in case the old one dies again. Great watches..
I took this watch to Havana Cuba and still synchronized with the atomic clock in Denver, Colorado. It was awesome to have a watch that auto sinchs. Every day it sinchs, I live in Nebraska.
@@Jdogg51 !! Funny you should ask. Just 2 days ago I took it off my watch shelf to look at it. The battery has been dead for a few years, and I thought it would be a cool video to document replacing the battery in an old G-shock. I bought this watch on Maui, during my honeymoon in November 2001. AFIAK it still works fine, just needs a new CR2016.
It definitely does charge with artificial lighting, and you get the bonus of it not heating up the watch. If it is less efficient than natural sunlight, its not by much. I just wear it and it charges sufficiently during the day, in and out of natural and artificial light. Thanks for the commentary, glad you liked the review.
Doesn't the day change automatically with the date? I honestly dont know though, I just place mine on a window and it automatically sets the time from the atomic clock radio signal.
I wear mine to bed, we have trees around and have a metal roof. Normally updates every early AM maybe if there's nasty weather it may not, but most times it does.
I may have to replace the battery on mine because it hasn't seen light since 2015. A friend had some cleaning to do in her storage area and I helped and gave me anything I wanted in helping her. I foumd this since I do scuba dive. It was totally dead. I even placed it in sunlight for 2 days. Nothing...so I'm looking for the batteries to get this restarted. Will definitely need a rugged band to put on it. This metal band would be damaged if I leave it on going diving near coral reefs.
I Just replaced that same MTG, Except I don't have the stop time feature, when the B button was pressed. They took that feature out.... Any suggestions from anyone ?
The older version of that watch had a “time memo” function that the removed when they added the countdown timer function. Not sure what suggestions you are looking for.
Hola buena noche por favor traducir al español tengo este mismo reloj ya mas de un año intacto bien cuidado quiero saber cuanto cuesta el de color negro muchas gracias.
I bought mine last week for $12 at a pawn shop. It's in great shape, no scratches on tbe crystal and no wear marks on the bracelet. It will eventually join the work rotation, but is my everyday wear for now, as I really like it. I've got Tissot, Citizen, Seiko, Ballast, Pular, my "nice" watches, Casio andTimex watches and I always seem to gravitate back to my Casios. I still wear a couple of G-Shocks from the 80s, a Data Memo from the 90s, a solar Telememo from the 00s and now this MT-G. They just don't die!

YES the rubber bands wear out.. had mine now for 12 years and on my 3rd band! id recommend the steel bands for these!!!!

thanks for the update
Election day 2020. I just ordered one of these. 95 bucks at Walmart. Then I watched a video about it! Great review and I like what I see! Thank you.
@@donaldbarden7745 Good choice!! I am wearing mine right now. Awesome watch, I never get tired of wearing it.
Mine was completely dead. Left it in the car window sill and it came back to life. So watching your video to reset it.

i still have casio Gshock MTG-700M-9 still running well, 22 years old

I got this same exact watch from my wife for Christmas 2011. I have it and still running strong
Yeah that does not surprise me one bit. Casio g-shocks will last an eternity. The old black/gold one you see in this review still works great for me.
@@MuvoTX How's your DW-004 holding up? Still good I hope

The best watch you can buy for the money. I’ve had mine for 15 years and still runs perfectly.
Awesome... Mine is not that old yet, but I expect it to last a very long time.
I have had mine for more than 10 years and it also works as good as the day I got it
I own the MTG-900DA. In my opinion, it's the best watch in the world for under $100.
Yeah I am very happy with mine.
Great video. Thanks! Do you know if exposing the watch to an artificial light such as a lamp can charge the battery just as much as direct sunlight?

i would like to ask about your first Casio you have shown. Is ist still working on it's first CTL battery? After 19 years....
I bought it around 2008, and it is still on my wrist with no battery issues.
Amigo soy de mexico y kisiera saber como ponerle alarma ami casio mtg 900DA-8CR
How do I manually change the day of the week? Can't seem to change it. I changed the time year and date but i cant change the day of week.
Doesn't the day change automatically with the date? I honestly dont know though, I just place mine on a window and it automatically sets the time from the atomic clock radio signal.
I just ordered one but i noticed that these are now made in China. Do you think there is any difference between Chinese and Japanese made watches?
I have this model and i love it

I have a Citizen 2005ish. Still running same battery. It's died several times throughout the years back in the 🌞 back to life.
If he had gotten it at Costco, he’d probably get a 5 pack of g shocks
Just got one on clearance at Walmart for $73. Question I have is how long does the charge last if fully charged and then stored in the dark?
Nice score. I'm not sure about that, I always leave mine on a shaded windowsil so it never runs down.
Cool 😎
Its all about their G Shock G Steel line now bro!
Those are really cool too... a bit pricey though!!
Mtg 1000xb
Great video thanks!
Thanks!!... this casio really is a great watch
Can the band be adjusted in this watch, if so how?
It uses standard friction split pins you push out to remove bracelet links. The clasp also has micro adjustment holes.
great review, i liked and subscribed!...
Cool

Yep... tank of a watch. I still wear it all the time.
How do make the band shorter.?

You can get it on Amazon, too.
How much ir?
It was around $115 I think... it was a gift so I'm not exactly sure.
Mam ten zegarek 12 lat. Ciągle go używam. :D
Yeah... Casio G-shocks practically last forever. I have some that are that old too.
How do you remove links from that watch?
The conventional way my friend.
I let my watch die
And it now charges faster and stays charged longer
As long as it comes in black
2199 There was a black limited edition with a reverse lcd display, but you’re going to have to get lucky on eBay if you want to find it.

Sexy expensive watch
It’s a little bit too pretty for a camping watching in my opinion. Stainless bracelet is going to be done for...
Yeah its not my first choice for a camping / outdoors watch honestly. It's too nice looking for that.
