Such a great film. Your desired “ass blaster” ending almost made the final cut:
“In the original filmed ending, Creasy does not die in the car on the way to The Voice's house. The two meet and chat for a while about the price of human life. Creasy continually looks down at his watch. When the timer reaches zero, Creasy smiles. Then, the entire house explodes. This implies that Creasy used the rectal bomb that he used on Fuentes earlier in the film. Tony Scott cut the scene, because he felt that it did not fit in with the tone of the film.”

Although it seems like only Elle made a decent transition to the adult acting arena.
Also a significant, the film Unstoppable was also directed by Tony Scott as Man on Fire was - but sadly he committed suicide not longer after making Unstoppable his final film. After already having another brother die of cancer in the 80s it's been a nasty turnout for Ridley Scott 😟

Fun fact: this movie is a remake of the 1987 movie of the same name. Scott Glenn starred as Krese in that movie. Denzel Washington and Scott Glenn were both in Training Day. 2 actors who played the same character in Man on Fire played opposite each other in that movie.

Denzel is one of our greatest actors ... period. There are literally dozens of wonderful movies he's been in, and those I didn't care for wasn't because of Denzel (he's great in everything he does). Here are just a few of my favorites (in no particular order): Man on Fire and Crimson Tide (which you've already reacted to), Training Day, The Equalizer, Equalizer 2, Fallen, Safe House, Deja Vu, Inside Man, and of course, Glory.

This is a remake of the 1987 original with Scott Glenn as the role of Creasy. Of the two, this was the one I saw first, and the one I appreciate more.
It was also the one I saw a week after seeing “The Punisher”(2004) in the theater. There was something about 2004 where we had a glut of “revenge porn” movies as the music and film industries picked up steam post-9/11.
