Tony, I’m a girl who watches BTS reactors with a passion and I seek out people who’ve never seen them before and who watch and show respect and interest. AgustD is the solo stage name of Korean rapper Min Yoongi. He’s a part of a seven member K-Pop band called BTS. BTS is a worldwide sensation, having beat records formerly held by Michael Jackson and the Beatles. They do pop, rock, rap, R&B, hip hop, ballads, EVERYTHING. They’re SUPER talented and have been around for seven years and STILL live, work and train together to this day. They’ve known each other since they were 12-13 years old and have a TON of stuff for you to react to. If you need guidance, tell me the best way to DM you. I’m telling you...BTS don’t just music...they make auditory and visual orgasms. And good reactors can make a killing just reacting to BTS and the members solo projects. You’re getting ready to fall into the rabbit hole, my friend!

This is not K-pop, It's Hip hop or K-hip-hop, if you prefer. Agust D is a member of BTS(7 members, 3 rappers, 4 vocalists) who are from South Korea and for the western World considered as K-pop artists. But they have an Hip hop based style of music but not only. It's really diverse and crazy good. You can check their latest MVs, "On, kinetic manifesto" or "Black Swan". You can check Agust D first track called "Agust D", It's really good. He just put out his second mixtape called "D2".

So it doesn't matter if anybody says that they are not Kpop, but it doesn't change the fact that they are part of the Korean music industry, that is Kpop. You’re also wrong cause indie and hip hop music isn’t considered kpop. The correct term for kpop is idol music, and by the way, Army wasn’t the one who started saying BTS isn’t Kpop. KOREANS were the ones who started saying BTS isn’t kpop. KOREANS invented the term BTSpop, we just picked it up. The KOREAN president even separated bts from kpop music. I’m gonna assume you’re from the west, considering your name, so you really need to stop talking over KOREANS about THEIR music

In the beginning you said that the language barrier doesn't bother you because you listen to music in other languages and you have no clue what they are saying but good music is good music. Thank you. That's what we were saying all this time to all the English speaking people who's excuse was "but I can't understand what they are saying". It's so annoying. They don't seem to realize that most of the world doesn't speak English and still listens to the same Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Eminem, Harry Stiles or what ever genre is your fancy. I never heard German or Japanese or Bulgarian people complain that Michael Jackson didn't sing in their language... As you said, good music is good music, it's a universal language.

K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better."

It’s the music in the background that Yoongi (his real name - he write his own lyrics and composes his own music...not just for himself, but for BTS as well) mixes with his beats. He’s a fuckin GENIUS! He writes about a song a day and has over 100 copy written songs under his belt and has won awards for the music he makes.

But BTS is NOT typical K-Pop. There’s seven members and they can all rap, sing and dance. They all bring something unique and special to the table. Tip: Title your reactions like this: FIRST TIME REACTING TO [Insert song name here] and that’ll attract ARMY’s. ARMY is the name of their fan base and we’re the biggest fan base in the world. This is suga -> aguS td backwards, from bts
*Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with kpop. Kpop is just a label to say that everything that comes out of Korea is that (false) bts is not considered kpop because of its great repertoire of genres and that it does not follow the same line of the kpop industry.
    1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers
    2. Bts compose and produce their own music, so is very personal, they talk about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc
    3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) used to read a several books and study set, philosophy, psychology and mythology to understand. Their last album for example was "map of the soul: 7" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Jung.
    4. The army love them because they are good people who through a lot of bad things to be where they are now, and even being famous they stay humble.
    5. They have a lot of genres but their base is very hiphop / rap. Also you can find subtitles in every possible language thanks to the fans, u only need to search with the name of the song.
**Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals

IE: mainstream pop and I don't mean anything against those artists, either. While some of that IS true, it's not all like this and BTS is amazing at thinking outside of the box and redefining what music can be. They've also mastered the art of having a happy sounding song with really deep lyrics like Go Go or Seesaw. I like it when u want generalize this song to Hip hop.. its hip hop, no doubt.. but in other side, the word "K" makes you expecting "more" from the song.. as you know, its hip hop, but diff (in a good way).. BTS hiphop has constructive meaning, a lesson to take, something meaningful.. i dont say all hip hop songs are not constructive.. but i just think that the "k"-word, make it special.. i just sharing my thoughts..

BTS is basically a powerhouse of composers, lyricist, producers, vocalists, rappers, dancers, actors you name it whatever it is. They started as underdogs who were looked down on and ignored and now they're already beyond Kpop with a lot of people looking up to them. Their music heals a lot of hearts and provides comfort and reassurance. Their music is really diverse it's really interesting they're not like any other group.

First time reaction to Kpop... not bad. but this isn't just K pop - Korean popular music... this is a movie/music video from the biggest Korean boy band ever... BTS is a group that does a lot of this. They have 36M followers on YT, 25M on Twitter, 22M on IG and ??? on FB. They have almost as many music videos as they have followers... You want sweet - they do that. You want rock/pop - they do that. R&B, Trap, hip-hop, rap, easy listening- just name it. And they do videos like this. But this is a solo work by one member Agust D (aka Suga, Min Yoongi). Daechwita is a form of military music that was played for kings to announce their presence when they were out and about among the people. This one tells a story about a tyrant king and a leader of the people. The rapper (SUGA) faces down the tyrant (that is his fame) with the help of the people (ARMY- his fans) Their music videos are full of every type of symbolism from current pop culture to ancient Greek mythology. The Genre is BTS. No one else is doing this. There are at least 3 - sometimes more - 'explanation' videos for every 'OMV' video they do. They are worth looking into. Oh, and you have 171 more comments here that all have pieces of this huge puzzle that is BTS. If you read them, well, you'll probably want to read and watch more... welcome to A.R.M.Y (the BTS Fanbase) :) Enjoy :) Stay safe, Blessings

You are witnessing one of the 7 live legends😌..he is Suga (Agust D for his solo stuff) of BTS and this is his mixtape D2 *BTS a world biggest boyband (boyband just a label by westerners to understand) they are more than just an average boyband, they are the people who have saved lives of many people around the world by their music and message behind it.. people assume by stereotypes than reading *fact* to break people's stereotypes about BTS.. *let me state just one fact that will surprise you cuz there is stereotypical image of BTS that they have 13 yrs old, screaming teenage fan girls* LOL 😂 so here you go:
*1) Almost 76% Armys(fans of BTS are called Army) are females while 24% are male armys*
    *2) 24% are 10 to 19 years old,*
    *3) 26% are 20 years old,*
    *4) 19% are 30 years old,*
*5) 27% are 40 to 49 years old, And also there is pretty big amount of armys who are of age 50+ & that says a lot...*

BTS's possitive message in their every song, deep lyrics and many more things set them apart from other k-pop groups ..you will see many artists sing about love, breakups, drugs, money, cars and all ..but BTS songs are about self love, social issues, mental illnesses like depression etc, Their humble personalities plays important role as well in their success..they started from nothing..like literally..as people say *humble beginnings* you will get to know more about them as you react to them.. *And this is the reason they are so big Today* 💜 sorry for this long essay LoL😅..but the stereotypical image that western media shows sometime gets to my nerve..🤷🏻‍♀️😊

The actual mv does have explained video to it , as there are a lot of historical and movie refrences plus even a little of jung psych in it (a form of psychlogy that was explored extensive in agust d's group bts albums MOTS persona and 7) bookish thories and dkdtv usally do good job explaining for us international fan. As you can proabably tell, us ARMY are a passionate group, and while there are crazies i think we try to keeo it positive here, bts has an extensive library amd many genres so their will probably be something you like or something you dont like, thats okay . Agust D aka Suga is part of BTS a south korean boygroup with 7 members consist of 3 rappers (SUGA, RM and J-hope) and 4 vocalist (Jungkook, V, Jin and Jimin). They take part in writing their own lyrics and producing their own song. They also has solo and the 3 rapper already releases their mixtape. RM has 2 mixtape RM and Mono. 4:40 Wikipedia: K-pop (abbreviation of Korean pop; Korean: 케이팝) is a genre of popular music originating in South Korea. While the modern form of K-pop can be traced back to the early 90s, the term itself has been popularized since the 2000s, replacing the term Gayo (가요), which also refers to domestic pop music in South Korea. Although it generally indicates "popular music" within South Korea, the term is often used in a narrower sense to describe a modern form of South Korean pop that is influenced by styles and genres from around the world, such as experimental, rock, jazz, gospel, hip hop, R&B, reggae, electronic dance, folk, country, and classical on top of its traditional Korean music roots. The more modern form of the genre emerged with the formation of one of the earliest K-pop groups, Seo Taiji and Boys, in 1992. Their experimentation with different styles and genres of music and integration of foreign musical elements helped reshape and modernize South Korea's contemporary music scene.

First I'll say your reaction is classic for first timers. Second, at this point in his career he has a big budget. Third, he said he decided he wanted the lyrics simple so people could enjoy the visuals.
I'm getting to this late, so no doubt most of your questions have been answered already. What I will say is Agust D is aka Suga of BTS a k_pop "Idol" group which basically means a group of people who sing, dance, rap, and perform like no body's business. I don't know, yet, what your preferences are, but if it's rap then check out all things "Agust D". This is his second album in something like 4 years. He produces, he writes lyrics.
J-Hope is another rapper in the group and has a couple of MV out that are interesting. His background is street dancing, he didn't start rapping until he joined BTS.
RM is considered the main rapper of the group. Completely different feel.
RM and Suga aka Agust D were underground rappers before becoming part of BTS.

Agust D also known as Suga in the group BTS (real name Yoongi). When makes his solo things he uses Agust D (DT Suga backwards...DT for the place he is from plus his other stage name). BTS has a wide variety of genres that they write and perform but it is mostly with at least some hiphop elements (although not all). Some of thier music videos and songs would be more what you would expect when you hear Kpop and some are very much Rap/Hip Hop etc. I think they do very well in mixing things up and giving us new material to listen to. In BTS there are 7 members (3 rappers and 4 vocalists) and they are all very talented in many ways. I really appreciate the lyrics in the songs that they write and also they are amazing dancers. Their live performances are amazing to watch. The rappers in BTS all have their own unique flow/style and all have produced their own mix tapes as solos but they also as BTS write and perform music. If you like this you would probably also like the work of the other rappers or when they do a rap line song together as part of a BTS album. However the vocal line cannot be ignored they are absolutely amazing singers so if you want to listen to other styles of music you can listen to a BTS song with all the members or even just the Vocal line.

Daechwita is music to herald a King's arrival or procession. Basically he's saying the King (him) is here, play it louder! Suga sampled music from the original traditional Daechwita music for this song. Suga has another mixtape from 2016. In this mv there are 2 AgustDs. The blonde king (the old AgustD) and the modern new AgustD. At the end, the new AgustD killed the old. In his and BTS' old songs they sing about their dreams, becoming kingly & successful was part of it. In 2020 he is flexing that he has made it.

This is the interesting interpretation for this mv⚡⤵️
Both the King and the black haired man is the same guy, he is AGUST D aka SUGA. Agust D is spelled backwards, showing his stage name Suga, and the D means his hometown, Daegu Town. He basically showing that he shoot his old self, who reached the top, being well known all over the world as part of the member of BTS, but he knew that this kind og thing could influence a human to have greed and having power hunger in some ways i guess, he wanna get rid of it (not losing realistic moral senses, being pampered with pleasures), to get back being grounded, put his feet to earth again metaphorically and not being easily satisfied to worldly temporary things, which shows that he's already at the top now, being successful. He's showing senses of awareness to not get caught up with those kind of things. Its showing his personality who's always contemplative, and see life in a soulful way.. thats why at the end of the mv, his realistic simple but *actually deep* self shoot and kill his elevated self (the King).
Agust D "King version" is a mad king ( he wanted to show that pleasure and being succeed in life can make someone have greed and be selfish and like having pride too high, so he was trying to portray a mad king getting too immersed in his own successes, so that's why somehow in a way he stood on top of his guard or officer's back, and then when the new Agust D being tied up and surrounded by fire when he spits smooth bars, in his lyrics at that scene he said this, "i only looked up and now i look down and put my feet on the ground", he means he (the new Agust D) want to humble himself down, to humble that mad king version of Agust D, so as to not get too caught up with all this "happy pleasures his successes gets" so he turn himself to be mindful, go back being with smart introspective awareness. Trivial fact: in the behind the scene video for this MV in BigHit Labels youtube channel, this guy called Agust D (its the alter ego name) for Suga, one of the members of BTS, he said, agust D became a king 4 years ago, and now the successful Agust D 4 years ago being confronted by a new Agust D (that in the end you understand why the new Agust D did that to the King )
Agust D is his alter ego. And you would love to watch his other mv too "Agust D - Agust D" he raps very fast. And don't forget to activate the cc to eng subs 🔥💯👍🏻
BTS always have deep meanings in all their mvs. And each music and each album contained continuous development of all of them as a human, its like psychological stages they are going through.. and this is relatable for everyone. So its definitely a very collective type of music, for the collective, and they wanna spread love for everyone.and teach others as well about walking on the wise path, confronting our shadows, and accept yourself fully by loving yourself, with all the dark and light side, to be a whole person.... This is how i can explain it. But you'll see more other in depth explanations from others about BTS and their impact to the world.
Personally from my opinion, they bring balance energy to this somehow hurt society.. its just different, they express emotions as men, and not run away from being hurt and attacked by surroundings, approach in caring subtle deep way that its actually empowering alot of people, they show raw vulnerability that its actually both heal them and made them stronger mentally wise. And their messages in their songs are healing , showing an example for everyone especially men to be okay being vulnerable, but it doesn't mean youre weak. But it shows you are so capable to endure pain that youre actually deeply strong.

When he says he is a king, he means it. He is a descendant of the Yeoheung Min clan which is a line of emperors and empresses. If Korea still had this system going, he and his brother would be potential kings of Korea right now.
If you want to read more about it, heres a link: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeoheung_Min_clan (this website didnt show him in the list of descendants for me on my phone, so if you cant find him on your phone try on your computer or search Min Yoongi Min Clan and go to photos. There will most likely be a photo where it shows him and his brother in the line up)
Two other members from the group AGUST D/SUGA/MIN YOONGI is in,BTS, (Kim Seok-Jin and Kim Tae-Hyung) are also descendants of a royal clan, the Kim clan. They are in this line up, followed by a few other idols from other groups such as Kim Yong-Sun also known as Solar from mamamoo, Kim Mingyu from seventeen, Kim Hyun-Jin from LOONA, Kim Sunwoo from the boyz and Kim Hong-Joong ATEEZ. The current princess of Gwangju (a city in south korea) is also a descendant of this clan. I'll leave a link to that page if you want to check it out too: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gim_clan_of_Gwangsan
I understand it might be a bit too much to take in right now, as you're just getting to know them (mostly agust d if you are planning to keep going with the reactions, I havent looked at your channel yet) but I thought you should know that when he says he's a king he ain't lying, and I felt bad about leaving the other two out.

Agust D (aka Suga) is a member of the band that is considered the biggest boy band in the world right now, BTS. They are labeled as K-pop but to a lot of people and fans that is not very accurate since even among their peers they are unique. Theirs is a story of struggle and perseverance that even if you are not a fan you must at least recognize their talent and tenacity while climbing their way to the top.
Even being called a boy band is not fair for this group of seven talented artists, since the term carries the stereotype of them being nothing but eye candy for young girls with decent singing and dancing, which is honestly a disservice to them. This men are true artists, dancing, singing, rapping, producing, composing and performing their own stuff.
They all have their own taste and style when it comes to music so their discography is as varied as you can possibly imagine, from hip-hop, rap, R&B, neo soul and ballads to pop, rock, trap and even Latin influences being displayed in their songs. However, I believe it is their lyrics and the message they are trying to spread what has really got so many millions of people around the world hooked on their work and what they stand for.
The fact that they remain rather humble and real people might also play a part in their appeal, since even being such successful artists they do a really good job of portraying themselves as relatable through their online interactions with fans.
Anyway, sorry for the rant I sometimes really can’t help myself. If you decide you might want to check some more of their stuff out then I recommend you start by taking a look at some of their solos in order for you to become more familiar with each of the members before you start seeing them all together since it can get confusing at first. A lot of new reactors and fans try to tell them apart by hair color which is pointless since they change their hair’s color and style like they do underwear 😂

Great reactions! Your confusion was gold. This is exactly why the world need to stop calling all music that comes from Korea - Kpop. It is confusing for people. Sure, it has pop in it, but it also has hip hop, rap, heck - even Baby Shark has been argued to be "kpop"! AND what's even more confusing is the BTS doesn't fit in any of that because they do so many different genres. You can't call them pop; you can't call them hip hop; you can't call them R&B; because they do it all! And each member's solo stuff, like Suga's - Agust D - persona are so different from each other. I'm glad that ARMYs helped explain things. That's one thing we are really good at. I'm glad you liked Agust D! Thank you for giving him a chance. You rock! Peace.

This is K Pop. Most people here who insist K rap or K Hip Hop is not K pop have listened to very little historical K Pop over three decades and for their own reasons feel a subgenre of K pop must be deemed separate from the overall body of music.
Hip hop in K Pop stretches back to Seo Taiji and the Boys and maybe further. In fact one of BTS's most hip hop performances was Seo Taiji's Come Back Home on the song's 25th anniversary, and that performance was several years ago. Forgive me but certain people, notably mostly male individuals, feel their having a fondness for K pop has a measure of stigma associated with it. When they share K pop, they consciously or subconsciously show their weakness with this stigma by excising area(s) of the genre presumably to neatly tailor their recommendations to what they anticipate the recipient of the recommendation would like.
That is not a Korean thing to do, Suggesting songs or artists, ok. But when this idea of K Pop not including hip hop or rap is projected forward in comment sections so others will not see the size of K Pop's big tent, Suga's entirety is ignored, like his acknowledgements that he is an idol and he does not care what you think. If commenters would prefer true K rap may I suggest BeWhy who is outstanding but don't try to say that K Pop's best rappers are no longer K Pop when they do solo projects. They are under the tent and even in this work there is evidence of the broader genre..

4:45 Kpop is actually kind of an umbrella term that includes all genres from Hiphop to R&B to Electro to pop, so while some Kpop songs do have that cutesy colorfull look other songs have a much darker feel and many are straight bangers like this one^^ Aside from just the music, Kpop also includes intricate choreography, high production music videos, fashion and makeup - which all comes together in a visual and auditory package.
Thankyou for giving Kpop a listen! Hope you have a wonderfull time reading all the Kpop info in the comments hahaha^^

a lot of people have that prejudice about kpop, that is bubblegum pop. But actually kpop its not like "western pop" they mix a lot of genres in their songs.
This is Min Yoongi a rapper known as Agust D in his solo projects that are mostly hip hop. And also known as Suga in the group BTS.
You should check more of BTS and the members, their songs are rly deep, you need esplanations to rly know how deep are xD in all their discographys they talk about their feelings, their growth as persons, how to love yourself and how to embrace your truth self. And included a lot of references to mythology, philosophy, psychology, movies, history, art and novels in the lyrics and MVs.
Also they experiment with a lot of different genres of music and dance (more that any other kpop artists) so every song is completely different from each other.
in this MV 대취타 (daechwita) is a traditional korean song, played when the king leaved the palace, so people have to stop what they were doing to bow to the king. Also played when the military marched.
Also in this song he mentioned "Gwanghe flow" Gwanghe is know as "the mad king" a tyrant who killed a lot of people. Here the blonde king is the old August D, consumed by the fame and power, and the new Agust D comes and kill him. Yoongi always said that he was afraid of losing himself to the fame and in this song we can see (through a lot of symbolism) that he stays truth to himself thanks to the other members(his family at this point) their company and his fans.
Sorry I typed to much xD I could be hours explaining things xD

The fun thing about kpop is it's not limited to one genre. BTS is SUPER versatile. They run the gamut from super poppy to smooth r&b to hip hop to super moving ballads and more. They've got some of the best talent out there for vocals, dance and rap.
Like, when they go hard they go HARD, and when they wanna make you cry, you cryin'.

I feel like people see Kpop as one genre. It's really not. It's a very general term since Korean pop is more diverse and has more genres mixed in. One Kpop group can do pop, rock, RnB, hiphop and more in a single album. So saying "Am I really watching a Kpop music video?" isn't technically correct. Kpop is not the equivalent of American Pop. It would be more correct to see Kpop as the equivalent of what is considered Mainstream Music in America because Maintream Music can range from rap(Eminem, etc...), RnB(The Weekend, etc...), to even Pop(Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, etc...).

In this MV, the modern version of Agust D represents his music and self now, and he is killed the blonde king which represents the old Agust D or rage. This is just my interpretation.

Agust D aka Suga aka Min Yoongi is part of BTS, the biggest group in the world at the moment and the genre is BTS.
Technically, Kpop is an all encompassing term that includes hip hop, r'n'b, ballads, pop, house etc as long as the artist is/are Korean idols (girl groups/boy groups). When you said you expect sweetness, there are some like that but that's just a small percentage of Kpop.
Since Agust D is part of BTS his vids are directed by the group's usual director Lumpens, who are known for their cinematography and engaging storylines.
You are correct that the vid is partly based on historical events, especially the King with Two Faces.
Check out his full mixtapes Agust D and D-2, both are fire.

everyones saying this isnt kpop, but the THING IS: to the western music industry and general public, it IS considered kpop. the whole music industry is considered one monolith to those outside of it, and music videos/albums like this prove that that perception is obviously an insufficient and shallow way of looking at it. so you’re not “wrong”-but the term kpop itself is the problem! HIGHLY recommend either reacting to or just watching bby gang’s “kpop vs bts: a video essay.” itll give you a GREAT, informed, thorough look at bts’s history & relationship w the kpop industry as a whole, as well as explain about how kpop came to be & is perceived now! its the BEST, most accurate, least biased, most informative source i have found TO DATE, and is only 30 min (or less if u put it on faster speed) for that WHOLE topic as opposed to dozens of videos/articles trying to poorly explain it.
i recommend it to ANYONE reading this! ive been a bts fan for 2 years and this is the ONLY video ive found that explains bts’s rise to fame + kpop as a whole well!! ill try to find the link
