    Ive been to camp in america as a camp councilor and would like to give one piece of advice with regards to clothes/packing. Big Tip!!Don't bring clothes that you wish to bring home in the same "state" they arrived in!! Everyone laundry is washed together, so none o your clothes will return in the same state that they arrived in. With that said, if you have a good top or good pair of jeans, dont bring them. Do yourself a favor, take a trip to Penneys and go crazy. Buy lots of cheap shorts, underwear, tshirts. Cos you will loose some in the laundry or some will get ruined. ALSO bring a plain white tshirt for Tye-dying!!

    • @MaisieCraddock
      @MaisieCraddock  Před 3 lety +7

      YES TO THIS! Couldn't agree more and if you are going to bring nice clothes - just keep them aside for your days off and travels and maybe don't put them in the laundry! Thanks Sarah - this is really useful :)

    I was a horse wrangler at camp, so my packing list was a bit different, but I would recommend sports sandals. I took a pair of cheap sports sandals I got in decathlon, but I ended up getting a pair of chacos when I was there. My camp had a rule about always wearing ‘shoes with back straps’, so no flip flops or sliders unless you were in the shower! Pretty much everyone at my camp wore chacos as they’re pretty durable and also comfortable once you’ve broken them in, although they can be quite expensive (one of my pairs was $55, but my others were $130)

    • @MaisieCraddock
      @MaisieCraddock  Před 3 lety +4

      Hey!! Thanks so much. Honestly the best advice I can give you is just go for it and be yourself. I know that sounds cliche to say but once you’ve pushed yourself out of your comfort zone of actually applying and getting hired, that’s the hardest part. Then when you go, you’ll find most people are feeling the same as you - mostly no one knows anyone but that’s the best thing as you’ll naturally just find your people, and become comfortable pretty quickly! Even though it’s a big thing to go to America and meet/do all these new things, it’s all so much fun and so worth it and everyone at camp is always goofy and happy because you’re having the best summer of your life. So just go for it, enjoy every moment and let go of the nerves as there’s nothing too scary about it once you’re doing it ❤️

      But in summary, it’s not that much if it’s your first time and for me I was with Camp America so I got “pocket money” which was about $700 for the whole summer - but unless you’re doing it as a summer job, the money doesn’t matter as it’s about the experience 😊
