Indeed, the Christian religion has undergone a lot of transformation, the first is the Greco-Roman influence with a political will and the intervention of the Emperors Constantine and his successors, where pagan philosophy has had the upper hand over monotheism.

You made a conclusion that we muslims do the thawaf just because the pagans did the same thing, are you going to say that we muslims do sujood just because Jesus (AS) did the same thing (stated in the bible) , where now even most christians do not know that Jesus (AS) did sujood? Not only sujood, basically things like ablution, fasting, even the command to worship Allah (SWT) only. You gonna conclude that we do all those things just because Jesus (AS) did the same things? Lol
My point is, these laws are given by Allah (SWT) simple as that, not because we wanted to immitate other religion. The fact that Allah (SWT) sent down prophets to every place in the world at an appointed time should make you think why there are similarities between religions. If you claim that we follow paganism, are there such statements from the Qur'an or the Hadith that stated islam is derived from paganism? If you couldnt find that statement, then who are you to judge that this religion is taken from that religion, etc etc like youre not even alive at that time bro.
And yea, who on earth worship the ka'aba 😂 Find me a verse or hadith that tells us to worship the ka'aba. Salaam.

The Parable of the wicked Tenants
Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard in a land,He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place. When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit (Matthew 21:33-34)
.The tenants seized his servants;and land owner send so many servants to the land but they beat one, killed another, and stoned killed, Last of all, he sent his one and only son to them. "They will respect my son," he said (Matthew 21:35-37).
But when the tenants saw son, they said to each other, "This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance." So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.
Then Jesus asked in , “What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”
Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the scriptures:

      and carried our sorrows
to lead us, through the cross,
to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Who was jesus and how did the authors of the bible change his image?
    1)
    Mark 5:30
At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
    Matthew 9:20
Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.”And the woman was healed at that moment.
In mark jesus a.s didnt know who touched him but in matthew, rather than looking around all confused and ignorant,he turned directly to the woman who toched her.Matthew had a problem with jesus not being all knowing
    2)
    Mark 10:18
Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good-except God alone.
    Matthew 19:17
Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good.
So matthew was embarrassed by the statement of jesus where he denied to be good but says only God is.And so he changed the question that jesus recieved by the man
    3)
    Mark 6:5-6
He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.
    Matthew 13:58
And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.
In mark jesus coulndt do miracles because of people lack of faith.
But in mathew he didnt want to do even tho he could
So Matthew had an issue of jesus not being all powerful and changed the text
Look how clearly the New Testament writers were changing the biography and the image of jesus in order to make it in accordance to their beleifs. So rather than changing their beliefs they changed the scripture.
And biblical scholars have said that there was still more evolution and exaggeration of jesus as time went on.
But if you thought that changes from mark to matthew seem to improve the image of jesus then its interesting to see how the image of jesus changes drastically from mark, matthew, luke to the gospel of john.
Thats why christians like to quote john a lot to prove jesus was god.Because john represents an advanced theological development. So the anonymous author of john put his own interpretation of who jesus is into the mouth of jesus.
Also if we analyse we will read that the disciples and the people didnt beleive he was god
    Mark 7:27-30
Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.”
But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”
Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
Matthew changed the phrase “You are the Messiah” to “You are the son of god”
But thats ok because in the bible son of god means someone who believes. Also in the bible israel is the son of god, david is the begotten son of god(read psalms 2:7),and the list goes on and on and on..
But what did the family of jesus think about him?
    Mark 3:21
When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”
Can u believe that mary would think jesus was out of his mind if she thought he was god?
    Doesn’t sound so..
Furthermore people were arguing who was jesus
    John 7:40-41
On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”
Others said, “He is the Messiah.”
Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee?
It seems strange that nobody was arguing that jesus was god
And i can continue more but I think the point is already made

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 92, Number 422
Do not think Islam was not corrupted the same way Judaism and Christianity was corrupted, RasoulAllah peace be upon him and his pure family said that he came between two periods of ignorance, the latter more ignorant than the former, this means after his martyrdom the corruption was great. there are 3 main waves of deception in shiasm i know of.
      - ibn saba the neo pauline preacher said Ali is a god and pushed civil wars like paul did, then Hasan united them.
Ali burned the she'a who said he's god too!
2nd wave when the shias who did taqiyah and weren't burned for shirk by Ali invited Hoosain, shias worship hossain who married a princess from magian areas as a front to continue magian royal worship!
3rd wave, lies on rest of ahlul bait in particularly Jafer Sadiq who said Abu Bakr gave birth 2 me twice, had a daughter named Aisha, until the 12 imam who matches the dajjal.
      >>>
Abu Ja’far, the 5th Shia Imam said:
Abdullah Ibn Saba used to claim being a prophet and claimed that The commander of believers (i.e. Ali) is God. Allah is Higher than such claim. This news reached to The commander of believers (i.e. Ali), so he called him and questioned him. But he repeated his claims and said:
"You are Him (i.e. God), and it has been revealed to me that you are God and I am a prophet." So the commander of believers (i.e. Ali) said: "How dare you! Satan has made a mockery of you. Repent for what you said. May your mother weep at your death! Quit [your claim]." But he refused, so Ali imprisoned him and asked him three times to repent, but he didn’t. Thus he burnt him (i.e. his corpse after killing him[24] ) with fire and said: "Satan had taken him into his whim, he used to come to him and to induce these (thoughts) in him”.
      - Rijal al-Khashshi, V.1, P.323
Some knowledgeable people have stated that Abdullah bin Saba was a J*w who had accepted Islam and showed great devotion for Ali (peace be upon him). As a J*w, he used to exaggerate the personality of Joshua, the son of Nun, the Wasi of Moses. After becoming a Muslim, he began to say about the personality of Ali such this(peace be upon him) after the demise of Rasulullah (peace be upon him and his progeny), and he was the first person who manifested the saying of obligation of believing in the Imamate of Ali, and completely dissociated himself from his enemies and he openly opposed them and denounced them as infidels. So, it is in this light that those there were against the Shias said: The origins of Shi'ism and Rafdh are taken from J*d*ism.

If she'a followed Quran they would be Sunni, Quran 25 :74 mentioned make us husbands imama - and Umar married Ali's daughter so imama in Quran is Sunni Caliphas, game over!!! Umar who defeated the magian empire is Quran's imama and should be the she'a "imama"!
but shiasm isn't about Quran, its about taqiyah for their magian empire who (along with byzantines) aided the riddah wars beaten by Abu Bakr justifying Umar topping the magians (& byzantines) themselves!
      -
This is symbolized Abu Bakr and Umar's Conquest of Magians and Byzantines from 2 buckets of water unified in one conquered by the umma in the hadith acc. to ibn Hajr & Shafaa:
Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with them both) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘Whilst I was standing by a well, drawing water from it, Abu Bakr and ‘Umar came. Abu Bakr took the bucket and drew one or two buckets, but there was some weakness in his drawing. May Allah forgive him. Then ‘Umar bin Al-Khattaab came and the bucket turned into a very large one in his hands. I had never seen such a mighty person as he in doing such hard work till all the people drank to their satisfaction and watered their camels that knelt down there.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3676).
Quran exposes rafidi shias as disbelievers per Quran 48 :29
history of she'a lies and betrayals to Islam like that of Hossain... -

    Truth about Jesus.
    ____________________________
Jesus(pbuh) is a prophet of God:
    Matthew 21:11
And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
    Luke 7:16
And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.
    John 4:19
“Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.
    John 9:17
So they said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him, since He opened your eyes?” And he said, “He is a prophet.”
    John 6:14
it says, “After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
    Luke 4:24
And He said, “Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown.
    Mark 6:4
And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.”
    -----------
    Jesus(pbuh) was sent by Allah:
    John 7:16
Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.
    John 8:28
So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me.
    John 17:8
For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.
    John 12:49-50
For I have not spoken on my own, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a command to say everything I have said.
50 I know that his command is eternal life. So the things that I speak, I speak just as the Father has told me.”
    -----------
    Jesus(pbuh) prayed to God:
    Matthew 26:39
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
    Luke 22:42
“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
    Matthew 27:46
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me
    Matthew 6:9
Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
    Luke 11:2-4
2 He said to them, “When you pray, say: “ ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation. ’ ”
    ----------
    Jesus was a teacher:
    Mark 10: 17
17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
    -----------
    Only God is good
    Mark 10:18
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good-except God alone.
    ------------
    Jesus don't know future:
    Mark 13:32
But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
    Matthew 24: 36
But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
    ------------
    Jesus(pbuh) can not do anything:
    John 5:19
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
    -------
    God is greater than Jesus(pbuh):
    John 14:28
“You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the
    Father is greater than I.
    John 10:29
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
    ----------
    God is spirit, not image:
    John 4:24
24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
    -------------
    Jesus(pbuh) will deny Christianity:
    Matthew 7:22-23
22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Note: Only Christian calls Jesus as lord.
    --------
    God is Father of all:
    John 20:17
Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
    ------
    Jesus talked about commandments:
    John 14:15
"If you love Me, keep My commandments.
    Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you
    John 14:21
He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."
    ----------
    Jesus was a muslim:
    Greating
"And as they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you (As-salamu alaykum)." - (Luke 24:36)
"And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house." - (Luke 10:5)
"On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" - (John 20:19)
"Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." - (John 20:21)
"A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" - (John 20:26
Submission to will of God = islam.
    John 8:29
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
    ---------
Jesus came to fulfil the law:
    Matthew 5:17-20
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
    --------
    Jesus denied to be God:
    John 17:3
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
    John 5:41
41 “I do not accept glory from human beings,
    Mark 10: 18
18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good-except God alone.
    -------------
Jesus prayed to God to be saved:
    Hebrews 5:7
During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
    -----------
    God is only true God:
    John 17:3
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
    -----------
    Jesus told worship God only:
    Matthew 4:10
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’
    Luke 4:8
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’

The story of the people of the cave in the Qur'an refers to many scientific miracles. In this proof, we want to discuss one of these scientific miracles.
The following is stated in the 11th verse of the surah of al-Kahf:
"Then We struck upon their ears (causing them, to go in deep sleep) for a (great) number of years in the cave. (Surah al Kahf: 11)
A very important scientific fact has been referred to in this verse of the Qur'an. It is as follows: The Arabic equivalent of "struck upon" in the verse is the verb "daraba". In Arabic, this verb bears the metaphorical meaning of "We have made them sleep." However, when the verb "daraba" is used with the ears, that is, when the phrase "struck upon the ears" is used, this bears the meaning of "preventing the ears from hearing."
After this explanation, let us pay attention to the verse again: Almighty Allah could have used the expression "We have made them sleep" for the People of the Cave. However, He did not say so; instead, He said, "We struck upon their ears". Here the preference of the expression "We struck upon their ears" instead of "We have made them sleep" indicates a very interesting scientific fact.
According to the discoveries of scientists, the only organ of sense which is active during sleep is the ear. That is why, we need the alarm of the clock for waking up. Other organs of sense are not active during sleep. Thus, the wisdom of using the expression "We struck upon their ears" by Almighty Allah for the People of the Cave is an indication of closing the senses of hearing of these youngsters and thus their staying asleep for many years without waking. So, with the particular emphasis on the expression "We struck upon their ears", the scientific fact of the activeness of ears during sleep has been pointed out.
As you see, every word of the Qur'an is full of wisdom. Sometimes it opens a door to a great truth with a single word. And with its every word, it proves that it is the word of Allah.

Thanks again, Paul, for your interesting discussion of Geza Vermes. However, I’d respectfully suggest you’ve over-egged the pudding at points here about the alleged origins of Christianity.
Intriguing that the discussion, rather than following a chronological order from Jesus pitchforks straight to Nicaea some 300 years later. Then, after detouring back to the Johanine perspective (which may have originated as late as the early 2nd Century - critical literary scholarship doesn’t know for sure but that papyrus fragment suggests an origin in the late 1st Century) you eventuality get to Paul. Sure, other than visions and what he learned from others, he did not know the historical Jesus directly. Nonetheless he was functioning and writing letters with a “high” Christology within the first generation of the Christ event, e.g., Romans 10:10-13 (universally acknowledged as an authentic Pauline work, btw) where Christ is clearly equated with Yahweh.
Also, to argue Nicaea is “completely different” from original Christianity and rooted in Hellenistic developments of the 2nd Century (and certainly Nicaea and Chalcedon and the Athanasian formulas use Greek vocabulary and concepts - they were written by Greeks for a primarily Greek audience!) rather overlooks the fact that it accurately summarises and reconciles the data of the New Testament - which, in terms of the content of the canon was all written (if not recognised as canon) as per your take from skeptical scholarship, by approximately 120AD. So no, not necessarily the huge change you suggest.
Also your liberal use of the term “forgeries” does not reflect the critical nuanced scholarship on the matter of anonymous authors employing the names of past messengers, as was clearly the practice with Jewish apocalyptic. That John and Peter and at times maybe Paul did not write books of the New Testament ascribed to them is possible - although reality check, in the absence of actual documentary proof to the contrary we cannot know they are by others. Nonetheless from within the perspective of how the Old and New Testaments came to their final canonical forms, anonymous authorship and/or redaction based on an original corpus is not a problem as such for Jews and Christians. As such I see no compelling reason that I should adopt the Muslim perspective or criteria for the formation of a holy authoritative book.
I’d also suggest it is grossly incorrect to say we cannot know if we have any of the words of Jesus because they come to us in Greek, not in his original Aramaic. You also speculate Jesus did not speak Greek...yet it was the lingua franca of the time, and there are examples in the Gospels of Jesus speaking to pagans like the Syro-Phoenician women...and Pilate. That both parties spoke directly in Greek to one another is not unreasonable. Jesus was raised in Gentile-domiciled Galilee after all! Seriously, Muslims may have a problem with translation from an original language. Jewish piety, courtesy of the prior translation of the Hebrew Tanakh into the Greek Septuagint shows the validity of translation should be assessed on those terms. Not the anachronism of later Islam.
I’d also suggest you are running with the hares and hunting with the hounds when it comes to the idea that an original Aramaic gospel - whose existence has never been verified - may have been the basis of the true Engil that Muhammad subsequently recovered. In the absence of such evidence, that is special pleading that one can apply critical scholarship to Christianity but somehow we are expected to grant Muhammad some special insight from 600 years later...while also ignoring the glaring logical incongruity that somehow the Sovereign Allah allowed Jesus’ teaching to be corrupted. Bottom line, translating a historical figure’s words into another language does not mean they are “lost”, be it Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar...or Jesus.
Also, there is the massive incongruity that in your near wholesale embrace of critical scholarship to debunk Christianity (and I don’t criticise you for that as such - you are clearly a man of good conscience and diligence and I salute your quest for truth), you’ve rather avoided the elephant in the room: even skeptical critical literary and historical scholarship affirms the clear message of the New Testament that Christ was put to death by crucifixion. Seems to me that if you’ve come this far with the scholarship one should be consistent and square the circle and conclude....Muhammed did not have any divinely-inspired insight to the contrary.
That conclusion is also supported by another matter from Jesus’ ministry which Vermes mentioned and which was rather brushed over in your discussion: the proclamation of the imminence of the Kingdom of God in Jesus’ ministry. The Islamic claim Jesus was simply a prophet calling Israel to ethical monotheism (they were already ethical monotheists anyway, so to compare Jesus with Muhammad converting pagans is another anachronism!) fails to acknowledge the dynamic and dramatic expectation of what the Kingdom of God entailed in Jewish thought. Or that such a message of ethical monotheism would be insufficient in itself to assign Jesus a future eschatological role, as Islam expects. Indeed, the Quranic understanding of the title Messiah seems wholly deficient.
Perhaps you might consider that in his preaching of the Kingdom of God, Jesus was deliberately creating in an embryonic form the faith that, after his death and resurrection, subsequently flowered with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, including the process that formed the Christian canon. For all of the insights, educated guesses and speculations of critical scholarship, there is nothing you’ve quoted from Vermes that rules that possibility out of court. Indeed, as a Christian, not bound by the Islamic demand of a “direct telephone and immediate codified record” as the only authentic and authoritative form of the Word of God, I'm not phased by your take on the origins of Christianity.
Nonetheless I salute your diligent efforts, and please, keep up the interesting work.

Thanks. I am surprised you say that the existence of forgeries in the New Testament is not a problem for faith. Writings created with the intention of deceiving readers must surely be of great concern for people of integrity and truth. The authoritative Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church states: "it is virtually impossible to hold that St Peter was the author of 2 Peter" (page 1262). Yet 2 Peter claims to be by the apostle Peter who claims to be an eyewitness to Jesus' life - see 2 Peter 1:16-18. Your own scholars admit it to be a forgery. @@johnbrzykcy3076 Paul has righty reflected that the majority of critical literary scholarship considers that II Peter (and the Gospel of John, and the Pastorals and some of the other Pauline epistles) were not written by those people. Fair enough, ya pays yer money and ya takes yer pick.
However, it is always necessary to remember that, in the absence of objective data, the assessment that some books of the New Testament are not written by whom they purport is...provisional. We don't know for sure. As an example, New Testament scholarship is largely built on an edifice that there was a now-lost written source - called "Q" upon which both Matthew and Luke used in addition to both using Mark independently. But here's the thing...it may not have even been a thing, and Luke may have used both Mark and Matthew. So a bit of caution when waxing lyrical about the overwhelming scholarly consensus does not go astray. Like any discipline, literary criticism is subject to potential group thought capture. And what seems so sure and fashionable now can, in a generation or two soon go out of date.
Another example, where actual tangible literary archaeological sources provide a corrective to scholarly speculation and certitude: It is almost axiomatic that critical scholarship considers there was more than one prophet Isaiah. The main reason is that in chapter 40 there is a jump in the context of the immediate audience/recipients from approximately 700BC when Isaiah of Jerusalem lived....to 539BC when the Babylonian captivity was coming to an end. And for decades scholarship was emphatic that there must have been two (indeed three) different parts to Isaiah floating around separately until a later redactor spliced them together quite late towards the lifetime of Jesus.
Just one problem - the greatest archaeological textual discovery of the 20th Century, the Dead Sea Scrolls of the Qumran community in 1947 contained a copy of Isaiah in the original Hebrew from approximately 200BC, and contrary to expectation there was a seamless transition from chapter 39 to chapter 40.
Critical literary and historical scholars, using naturalistic assumptions and methods (and good luck to them for that, indeed it is a necessary requirement of their discipline) can propose various shades of grey depending on the (at times limited) facts at their disposal. But in many cases we are still dealing with a best guess scenario. So a bit of humility is in order as a quality control.
Oh yes, and as an aside, the essential the reason critical scholarship says Paul did not likely write Ephesians or Colossians is because they are too obviously much LIKE what we know Paul wrote in Roman, I & II Corinthians, Galatians, I Thessalonians, Philippians and Philemon. So someone is clearly imitating him...whereas the reason they are so sure he did not write the Pastorals (I & II Timothy and Titus) is that they are so much UNLIKE what Paul wrote in Roman, I & II Corinthians, Galatians, I Thessalonians, Philippians and Philemon. Don't know about you but that reasoning is classic, "Heads I win, tails you lose". Which means critical speculation should always be verified where possible with tangible primary sources where possible. If not, it remains...provisional.
And all that is without me addressing the issue that, it may have been a culturally acceptable practice of the time to write a book in the name of a well known authority of faith, and it was clearly understood as such by the original recipients. Hence there is no "deception". If so, throwing around the term "forgeries" like confetti to dsecribe the practice because it does not fit with the dictates of Muslims or post-Enlightenment verification is an anachronism. Which is why scholarship is often cautious in its explanation of the matter.

From what I understand, early 'Christianity' (which was a sect of Judaism in actuality and could not be easily differentiated until the end of the 1st Century CE) was extremely Heterodox, which is to say that the earliest 'churches' each had their own slightly different set of beliefs. After all, Paul often warned his followers against following rival preachers, who taught different gospels. Only during the 2nd Century did the various churches begin to share a common identity with similar beliefs, which were only later resolved and fully integrated under the Roman authority of Constantine (who was born in Britain, I seem to recall!). This helps to explain how Christianity migrated Westwards, from Aramaic Galilee to Greek-speaking Asia Minor to Latin Rome.

Christians often claim that quran copied bible which one of the hundreds of arguments that debunk this is here.
Quran corrects the bible in many ways
    1)
The Bible makes the claim that God Almighty rested (and was “refreshed”) after creating the heavens and the earth:
It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed. [Exodus 31: 17]
The original Hebrew word used for “refreshed” is ‘naphash’, which means “to take breath, refresh oneself”.
According to the Qur’an, God does not display these human attributes of weakness and fatigue, for He is truly Omnipotent. Hence, He does not need rest or to refresh Himself. This false claim is corrected in the Qur’an:
And We did certainly create the heavens and earth and what is between them in six days, and there touched Us no weariness. [Qur’an 50:38].
Notice how the verse in the Qur’an matches, nearly word for word, the verse in the Bible. This surely must be considered a divine rebuttal.
    2)
    Joseph’s unfulfilled dream.
    Red Memory Box
Prophet Joseph had a dream about his family prostrating to him:
Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” [Genesis 37:9]
It’s important to note that the moon in his dream represents his mother Rachel. The problem is that before Joseph’s dream is fulfilled, his mother passes away:
So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). [ Genesis 35:19]
His brothers do eventually prostrate to him near the end of his story:
When Joseph came home, they presented to him the gifts they had brought into the house, and they bowed down before him to the ground. [Genesis 43:26]
Notice that Rachel is not alive to prostrate to him. The dreams of God’s Prophets represent visions of the future that will come true. So this is a prophecy of God that is unfulfilled in the Bible.
In the Qur’an, there is no such issue as his mother is alive to bow and fulfil the dream:
And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they bowed to him in prostration. And he said, “O my father, this is the explanation of my vision of before. My Lord has made it reality… [Chapter 12, verse 100]
    3)
The ruler of Egypt - King or Pharaoh?
The Bible uses the term “Pharaoh” to refer to the ruler of Egypt in the stories of Moses, Joseph and Abraham:
During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord as you have requested. [Exodus 12:31]
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they quickly brought him out of the pit. And when he had shaved himself and changed his clothes, he came in before Pharaoh. [Genesis 41:14]
So Pharaoh summoned Abram. “What have you done to me?” he said. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife? [Genesis 12:18]
Advances in our knowledge of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs have revealed that the word ‘Pharaoh’ is a title that originates from the Egyptian term ‘per-aa’, literally “great house”, describing the royal palace. Historically, however, “Pharaoh” only started being used as a title for the king much later in Egyptian history, during the New Kingdom period:
    pharaoh
This means that the Bible gets it wrong historically, it is an anachronism to use the word “Pharaoh” as a title in reference to the Egyptian ruler in the stories of Joseph and Abraham, as the word only took on this meaning much later in history, at the time of Moses.
The Qur’an refers to the sovereign ruler of ancient Egypt throughout its chapters:
    - With regard to the Egyptian ruler who was a contemporary of Joseph, the Qur’an uses the title “King”; he is never once labelled as Pharaoh.
    - As for the Egyptian ruler during the time of Moses, the Qur’an repeatedly calls him “Pharaoh” and never calls him “King”.
So, the Qur’an’s usage of “Pharaoh” respects what we know historically about the changing meaning of the word. Amazingly, these historical facts were unknown at the time of the Qur’anic Revelation in the 7th century, as our knowledge of Egyptian hieroglyphs had long been lost. Knowledge of the old Egyptian hieroglyphs had been totally forgotten until they were finally deciphered in the 19th century CE with the discovery of the Rosetta Stone, over 1,000 years after the revelation of the Qur’an.
    4)
    An impossible Exodus.
    Exodus
The Bible makes a claim about the number of Israelites that escaped Egypt with Moses (known as the “Exodus”):
The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Sukkoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. Many other people went up with them, and also large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds. [Exodus 12:37-38]
The Bible also states that the Israelites were important to the Egyptians because as slaves they were the workforce of Egypt:
When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!” [Exodus 14:5]
This would mean that at the Exodus, ancient Egypt suffered a catastrophic loss of most, if not all, of its labour workforce. According to the Bible there were 600,000 Israelite men that came out of Egypt. If you factor in women and children that figure would be closer to a few million. The problem is that there is absolutely no evidence of this historical event. There are no ancient Egyptian records of the sudden disappearance of millions of their people. There is also no physical evidence of settlements out in the desert where all these people and livestock encamped.
The Qur’an’s account of this event is far more historically accurate and realistic as it says that it was actually only a small group of Israelites that escaped from Egypt:
And We inspired to Moses, “Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued.” Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers [And said], “Indeed, those are but a small band” [Chapter 26, verses 52-54]
This is in line with what modern historians say, if there was an exodus then it couldn’t have happened on the massive scale that the Bible claims.
    5)
    Dealing in usury.
    usury
The Bible describes the practice of dealing in usury as one of the worst sins:
He lends at interest and takes a profit. Will such a man live? He will not! Because he has done all these detestable things, he is to be put to death; his blood will be on his own head. [Ezekiel 18:13]
Jews are forbidden from charging interest when lending money to other Jews:
If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not treat it like a business deal; charge no interest. [Exodus 22:25]
How is it, then, that usury is permitted with non-Jews (referred to as “foreigners”):
You may charge a foreigner interest, but not a fellow Israelite, so that the LORD your God may bless you in everything you put your hand to in the land you are entering to possess.[Deuteronomy 23:20]
Surely a sin is a sin, regardless of who is sinned against? By comparison the Qur’an comprehensively condemns the practice of usury:
Allah destroys interest and gives increase for charities. And Allah does not like every sinning disbeliever. Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers. And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger. But if you repent, you may have your principal - [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged. [Chapter 2, verses 276-279]
Notice how the Qur’an not only declares unlawful all acts of usury going forward, it also commanded believers to give up what was owed to them in interest from past loans, with only the original sum of the loan being lawful and not a penny more. The Qur’an also criticises the Jews for practising usury when it had been forbidden for them in the original Torah, this seems to indicate that the verses which permit usury against non-Jews in the Torah have been falsified:
For wrongdoing on the part of the Jews, We made unlawful for them [certain] good foods which had been lawful to them, and for their averting from the way of Allah many [people], And [for] their taking of usury while they had been forbidden from it, and their consuming of the people’s wealth unjustly. And we have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful punishment. [Chapter 4, verses 160-161]
    6)
    Job 26:11
The pillars that hold up the sky tremble,
    astounded at His rebuke.
    Quran 31:10
He created the heavens without pillars that you see and has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with you, and dispersed therein from every creature. And We sent down rain from the sky and made grow therein [plants] of every noble kind.
    7)
Jesus being disrespectful to his mother
    John 2:4
Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied.
Quran says in verse 19,chapter 32
And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.
So quran once again corrects the bible.Jesus was dutiful and listened his mother. Not being disrespectful to her.
And i can go on and on and on..
Did the author of the quran forget to copy these things?

Just a small downer - Géza Vermes *was* professor of Jewish Studies at Oxford. He passed away in 2013. Had he still been alive he'd be 97.
Sadly Dr Vermes fell into the same trap that Bart Ehrman did until recently - theorizing that the Gospels were not written with the purpose of transmitting the news of Jesus within a framework where Jesus is assumed to be divine. Bart Ehrman has now acknowledged his error, and admits that each of the Gospel writers did, in fact, believe that Jesus was (is) God.
Dating the synoptic gospels has presented "scholars" (i.e. skeptical scholars) with the fallout of deciding that prophecy can't happen. It is purely on this basis that 70CE is decided as the earliest date permissible, as otherwise it admits that Jesus accurately predicted the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. Everything else there is dated after that. So in fact modern "scholarship" is forced to add 40 years to any potential dating of the Gospels at all. So in fact *if* Jesus did in fact accurately prophesy the destruction of the Temple then all theories about Paul's letters predating the Gospels (and so on) turn out to be naked conjecture.
What then falls into further disrepute is the claim that Paul invented church doctrine. For if the Gospels predate Paul's letters, then all Paul was doing was passing on the Gospel that he had learned from the disciples (and we know this happened if we believe the accounts in Acts). Indeed, Paul's letters need then to be read within the context of an existing church which was encountering Gentile converts and struggling to work out what to do with them. That decision was taken, not by Paul, but by agreement among the disciples and at the instigation of James the Just in Acts 15. So all Paul was doing in his letters was encouraging the churches to continue in the faith he himself had been taught by the disciples.
But then, this narrative isn't all that enticing to people who disbelieve the Christian message and are given to undermine it. It also doesn't help sensationalists like Bart Ehrman sell loads of books while failing to make clear just how many assumptions their scholarly analysis has had to make before it could come in a country mile of their conclusions.
I find your parallel between the words of Jesus - mostly translated into Greek - and those of Muhammad in the Hadith traditions interesting. Particularly because the former were written down within a generation or two of Jesus' death, yet the latter were not for a good 2 centuries after Muhammad. Indeed, the Hadith are so numerous and of such variable quality that it can be strongly argued that it is almost impossible to say with absolute certainty that the Hadith traditions contain a single word which can be reliably traced back to Muhammad's own speech.
Finally, we have a specific problem with Dr Vermes' view of the disciples' understanding of the risen Jesus. In fact the records we have in the Gospels specifically leave no room for Dr Vermes' theory that the risen Jesus appeared as a mere vision to the disciples. Jesus is recorded as having allowed his disciples to touch Him, of Him having eaten with them, and so on. Physical events are recorded, on numerous separate occasions and sometimes with large numbers of witnesses. So either you discount all of these as fabrications, or you accept them as accounts of physical resurrection. Only Paul claimed to have seen Jesus in a vision (a vision the contents of which his companions heard but did not see). The rest of the disciples got to meet a physical tangible risen Jesus, if their account is to be believed. But these events are discounted by all members of the third quest for the historical Jesus, not to say many of the members of the previous two quests. So the conclusion he makes is, in effect, a tautology based on his own assumptions, not to say prejudices.
Which is a bit of a shame.
For more information on the history of skeptical biblical analysis under the guise of "historical studies", the wikipedia page covering the "Quest for the historical Jesus" gives a good oversight, and most importantly allows the reader to see the assumptions made at each stage of these investigations and theories. In particular it clarifies the movement as being largely antithetical to the Church as a whole, which is regrettable as it has allowed academics to run wild with unsupportable theories while encouraging them to present these theories as fact. Even such skeptics as Bart Ehrman remain uneasy about how much can be derived from the sources available.

@@Ilyas-vl4dd This is odd. From what I have read Muwatta Malik is the earliest written Hadith we have evidence for, and this was compiled somewhere between 730 and 790 CE. It is much likelier to have occurred in the later end of this range. What we do know is that Imam Malik managed to select less than 2000 Hadith from a potential list of some 100,000 or more. Which must have been a gargantuan effort, but which clearly relied on what can only be described as hearsay. So in this case we're looking at 150 years. I am happy to concede that. It is also notable that I have yet to hear a single Muslim quote from it; almost all quote from Burkhari or Muslim, which date much much later.

    Finding and Following Jesus:
The Muslim Claim to the Messiah Jesus was “God’s word conveyed to Mary and a spirit from him” (Qur’an 4:171) but he remained only the son of Mary (Qur’an 5:110), not of God. The Qur’an understands literally the notion of a son and therefore rejects a consort for God (Qur’an 6:101; 72:3) who has no son, only honored servants (Qur’an 21:26). There are no saviors, only prophets who warn. Nor are there any intercessors-unless God wills otherwise. He alone has the power to forgive sins and to answer His creatures’ prayers for help and guidance.Yesous Yeshu‘a, rendered ‘Joshua’ in English. The Hebrew original contains the idea of being a savior. ‘Isa has no meaning in Arabic or in Hebrew and its use might startle Christians since they expect Yeshu‘a or Yesu‘a to be the relevant Arabic transliteration. God made Jesus and his mother ayah) for humanity, a mercy (rahmah) from God, his miraculous birth “a matter foreordained” (Qur’an 19:21). Muslims proclaim Jesus as a sign of God (ayatu Allah) for all humanity (Qur’an 19:21) but not a (or the) son of God. The Qur’an also calls Muhammaﷺrahmah to all the worlds (21:107) and eulogizes the Word of God as a mercy and healing for believers (17:82; 41:44). The Greek Christos (anointed one) is a translation of the Hebrew meshiakh, meaning someone selected for a sacred role or special honor. It can refer to any chosen or regal personage. Al-Masih is probably an Arabic transliteration of the Hebrew. But what does al-Masih mean or intend in the Qur’an? The Arabic verb ma/sa/ha, like its virtually identical Hebrew cognate, means to rub lightly with water or oil; formal washings before Muslim ritual prayers require this light touch or anointment with water (Qur’an 5:6). The Qur’an’s description of Jesuعليهالسلامal-Masih ‘Isa ibn Maryam (3:45). In Judaism, ‘the Christ’ functions as an indefinite description since the identity of the true claimant must be distinguished from false pretenders. The referent of the phrase remains disputed: Jews are still waiting for the messiah. In first-century Palestine, the messiah’s lineage and identity were topics of fierce sectarian dispute. The self-segregated Qumran community expected two messiahs, one royal (of Davidic descent) and one priestly. In prophecy, an indefinite description is made partly definite; a proper name may or may not supplement the title. Thus, “His name is Ahmad” (Qur’an 61:6) can function as an attributive adjectival appellation or merely a proper (nominal or content-less) name while “His name is John” ( Yahya; Qur’an 19:7) simply introduces a proper name. The Qur’an denies the crucifixion (4:157), a fact that further defines the Messiah. God would not permit such a one to die a shameful death. In later Muslim piety, Jesu was ‘translated,’ a technical Christian term for describing ascent into heaven, without the normal precondition of bodily death. Allah exalted Jesus to himself. The Qur’an’s denial of Jesus’ crucifixion obviates the need for his resurrection but the Islamic scripture attests to Jesus’ ascension, understood as his miraculous entry into heaven through God’s direct intervention (see Qur’an 3:55; 4:157-8; 5:116-117). Only Luke mentions the Ascension of the risen Christ (24:50-51) after his resurrection and adds in Acts (1:1-3) that this event took place forty days after his resurrection. (Mark 16:19 mentions it too but this passage is absent from the most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses.) IV. The New Testament Jesus in the Light of the Qur’an The New Testament writers considered Jesus to be the messianic descendant of King David . For Christians, Jesus’ humiliating death was simply a fulfillment of divine prophecy: he was innocent of the accusations made against him by the establishment. While claiming that Muhammad’s advent was promised in antecedent scripture, the Qur’an never calls Jesus the promised messiah. This may be because the Qur’an recognizes at best only the Torah (Pentateuch of Moses) as scripture. For Jews, the Masoretic text of the Hebrew Bible, what Christians effectively dismiss as the ‘Old’ Testament, has three levels of holiness. After the Torah, the prophetic oracles quoting direct divine speech form the second holiest portion, the Nebi’im (Prophets) division. The messianic prophecies are concentrated here but, as in the third portion, the Ketub’im (Writings), much of this prophetic material is humanly composed and has been partly corrupted in transmission and through unauthorized scribal amplification. al-Injil) to confirm the Torah (al-Taurah). The Qur’an reveals that the Gospel vouchsafed to Jesus was a relaxed version of the Torah (Qur’an 3:50). Some laws imposed on the Children of Israel seemed prejudicially rigorous but, the Qur’an explains, these laws were intended to be conspicuously rigorous-as a just punishment for their specific iniquities and persistent delinquencies (Qur’an 6:146). However, the Qur’an does not suggest that the Gospel was a law-free version of the Torah or in some way legally or morally superior to it. The Qur’an concurs with the sum verdict of Matthew’s gospel: Jesu Abba (heavenly Father) scandalized his Pharisee critics. The Jesus of the Qur’an enjoys a close relationship with God, despite not addressing him as Father. So long as the believer does not obliterate his or her identity but remains distinct from God, Islam salutes the closeness of such mystical piety. The Qur’an speaks of the signs of God in nature and human nature (3:190; 30:20-25). John’s gospel, too, sees the actions of Jesu In the Qur’an and the Prophet’s canonical sayings, al-Masih is the Lord’s anointed, an accolade conferred uniquely on Jesus Islam pays special tribute to Jesus but not in a way that would satisfy the highly ambitious credal and ecclesial requirements of orthodox Christology. For Christians, the Muslim Jesus is a dull, predictable figure, a mere prophet, of whom there are legion in the Bible and the Qur’an. He would resemble the harmless figure of the cultural Jesus whose message can entertain kids at Christmas and Easter. This may sound like a caricature or parody of the Qur’anic Jesus but the Christian point is that only the adult version is the real Jesus, the incarnate God who suffered on a cross to secure redemption for sinful Adam and all his descendants. The Islamic Jesus appears as the real Jesus but minus the distinctive and unsettling aspects of his life, nature, and mission. as a miraculously created being, appointed a prophet and messiah, the seal of the prophets of Israel, and essentially no more. Otherwise, the Christological deadlock shall remain permanent. For Muslims, the Jesus of Christian faith will remain a divisive figure whose mission cannot provide a basis for genuinely harmonious coexistence among the adherents of the Semitic trio of revealed faiths. The Qur’an envisages these three groups disputing in front of their Lord on the day of resurrection (Qur’an 5:48).Muslims are religiously obliged to demonstrate that Jesus himself preached only a pure monotheism. Only then can we prove that the Muslim Jesus was the true leader of the Jesus movement. No Muslim can take as a leader someone who rejects or compromises strict Abrahamic monotheism. This is an essential qualification for anyone who claims to be a leader or exemplar for Muslims. entertained the prevalent Jewish view, he would have seen his role as that of a revolutionary, a zealous prophet and a human messiah who would deliver the Jews from the political bondage of Gentile nations. Christian tradition has bestowed countless honorific titles on Jesus who, as Christ, enjoys the role of messiah, naturally, but also prophet, priest, and king. According to Christian doctrine, during Christ’s divinely willed but humanly accepted humiliation on earth, he was a mere servant under the law, voluntarily divested of his regal divine majesty; in his later exaltation as Lord, after the resurrection from the dead, he rose above the law. Leaving aside the Muslim caveat that Allah would never humiliate his messenger, did Jesus proclaim himself the Son of God and/or God? . Objective historical and critical scholarship on Jesus for the past 100 years confirms the truth of the Qur’anic portrait as both converge on a Jewish Jesus. Islam is not annexing or colonizing the Christian Jesus, merely rescuing the historical character from the clutches of later church conjecture and dogma. Christians are called to change and meet Muslims on Muslim ground since the entire Qur’an is unchanged and unchangeable. By contrast, both testaments of the Bible are widely acknowledged by Jewish and Christian scholars themselves to be mainly edicts that evolved over centuries, under human if inspired redaction, the texts being, in the case of the New Testament, in demotic Greek while reporting the classical Aramaic speech of Jesus

@@svmggy7218 I disagreed with some of your points. Secondly you did not answer my question. However you asked me a question in return. I will answer your question but please answer mine in return. Islam is the believed system of total submission to the will of the one and only true God - who is the creator of the heavens and earth and all that is in between and all that we don't even know. This is the God that you said you believed as shown by your message. In Arabic we called this God as "Allah". When Jesus is on the cross he cried and called his (this) God by NAME. What did Jesus called this God by NAME? The ANSWER is "Elahi or Eli" which is the semantic form of the language Allah. Jesus on the cross never called said yhwh, instead he called "ALLAH or Elahi". I see that you're attempting to ridicule the name "Allah", so be careful not allow your hatred to let you insult the name of the God of Jesus. I believed Islam is true because of so many convincing evidences that no one can refute. Here are some of them:
      (1) The teaching of all the prophets of God is Islam. Islam is the absolute monotheism and that's is the teaching of all the prophets. Abraham is not a jew or Christian, what is his religion? Moses is not a jew or christian, what is his religion? Jesus is not a chirstian, what is his religion? All these prophets submitted to God and worship him alone with no partners, and that Islam, so we say they are Muslims. By the way Moses is not the founder of judaism and neither is Jesus the founder of Christianity.
      (2) No prophets claimed to have come for all the mankind. In fact in your Bible, Jesus called a woman a dog becaus she is a gentile (non jew). He said he came only for the jew. Are you a jew? I don't think so because the jews don't even accept Jesus. Prophet Muhammad claimed to come as the fulfilment of all the prophets and he came as a mercy to all mankind and the Qur'an confirm that.
      (3) The Bibles are corrupted and it can not be the words of God. Out of thousands unidentical manuscripts, who gave your church fathers the authority to select these are God words and these are not God words? They selected the ones that confirmed their pagans practice and rejected the ones that go against what they want to preach and practice. The Bibles (all the versions) contained Contradctions and absurdities that not a single sensible human being can attribute them to God.
      (4) The Qur'an is perfectly preserved by God and have not a single contradiction in it. I challenge you if you're a man of integrity, go and think about the reasons why you refused to accept the Qur'an? At the same you will find thousands worse reasons in the Bible that you accepted. For any one reason that make you rejected the Qur'an, you will find 10 times worse in the Bibles that you still accept. This is hypocricy because if you reject the Qur'an because you don't believed is words of God, I see no reason why you're holding the Bibles as the words of God.
      (5) Islam encourage us to think and use our rational faculties. In other words, not to accept something blindly. On the contrary, Christianity taught you to lock your mind in a box and throw the key far away out of reach. If you keep asking question in a church, they will take aside and said you're tempting God. What a nonsense! Many People denounced Christianity because of unanswered questions especially those apply to God. The churches are lying for centuries. When you're teaching people that the eternal and maximally perfect being became imperfect, this is a contradiction and confusing. In fact if you're teaching this to a child, I believed is a child abuse.
      (6) I got tired of typing as I said there are many reasons and I can go on and on.

This must be truly very remarkable book by geza verme. Christianity which is old guidance of perpetual din of Islam was so much distorted by its people and prophets in this community got badly tortured witness by Quran. Clergymen, alienation of women as nuns in the name of religion, nexus between power grabbed people and clergymen and self imposed Sharia which had made lives unrealistic and infeasible to move for common people, caused to lead revolution in form of secularism.. separating religion from state business. Unfortunately, same is going on with Islam and Muslims prefering secularism to perfect Din of Islam about which Allah warns us repeatedly in Quran.
