    You gotta love that the initial concept was just that strong, to the point that they were able to keep iterating on it for successive TMNT shows/movies.

    I remember having the 2004 version of Raph as a kid. Never occurred to me that this toy concept was such an obvious idea that it'd show up even earlier than that AND persist through the generations.

    I had some of the original ones, I forget which turtles. I think the 2004 one actually looks best in ninja form, they did a good job of slimming it down and making it look closer to the normal figures.

    I feel the manufacturers don't like or just don't acknowledge Rise as there is no version for Leo from Rise.

    • @thetoynerdco
      @thetoynerdco  Před 7 měsíci

      Yeah, Rise was like non existent, unfortunately. Both the show and the toy line were very short-lived...

    • @lightninstriker10
      @lightninstriker10 Před 5 měsíci

      The thing with Ninja Turtles toys is that they're often very easy to make since under normal circumstances, the four of them all have almost identical proportions. with Rise having them all be so radically distinct from one another it makes a toy like this impractical to produce since making it show-accurate isn't feasible.

    I saw a reissue of the original version on target for $15. I wasn’t sure if I should buy it or not, because it doesn’t even store its weapons in pet turtle mode, neither did the modern versions which is weird because weapon storage is a standard for modern transformers.

    • @thetoynerdco

      The re-released version is almost identical to the original version. The legs (in ninja turtle mode) can move. They have 1 point of articulation each. In pet turtle mode, the flimsy hind legs can also move a little bit. I am not sure they are good for stop motion though...
