I love the stranger it’s an amazing album and could very well be one of the best albums of the decade. That being said, glass houses is so damn good and underrated. You may be right and it’s still rock and roll to me get a lot of love but every single song on the album is amazing

Mmh, Piano Man surely is a top 3 album for me, 4 1/2 stars. Turnstiles is his best album.

Not too sure about the rest, but I agree with your number one choice. What contributes to its greatness is Billy produced it himself.

I'm a big BJ fan, preferring his earlier 'piano man' albums to his later more AOR output, but find something to enjoy on them all. Turnstiles has always been my favourite BJ album, head and shoulders above whatever dandruff comes next. Generally I pretty much go along with your comments, but I do like Piano Man a fair bit more than you. When I say I love Turnstiles, I really mean it. It'd be my No. 1 album of 1976 (beating off strong competition from Dylan's Desire) and is a serious contender for being one of my Top 5 albums of all time. Chef's kiss to you for singing the praise of much underrated Streetlife Serenade, but as you say, it has one instrumental too many. I'll also shout out again for "Songs in the Attic". Live albums usually stink, but this one smells pretty good with versions of early songs almost as good, if not occasionally better, than the album versions.

Songs From the Attic rules! And yeah... We'll have to see when I get to my 1976 albums of the year list. There's some intense competition going on there, but Billy's definitely in with a good shot to catch a medal on the podium that year. Which one though? 🤔

Firstly I need to say that you seem to adore Billy Joel in the same way I do Harry Nilsson and listening to his discography was difficult... Growing up in the 70’s Billy Joel was frequently played around the house by my dad, much to the despair of myself and mum, they were weird times because he has a very limited musical palette, Beatles, Sinatra, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins & George Harrison were the only other things he played , I liked them all bar Joel… I knew all his albums up until ‘Glass Houses’ (I left home in ’83) so it was pretty easy to catch up and obviously I am more than aware of his big hits, a couple of which I really do not like at all ‘Uptown Girl’ & ‘We Didn't Start The Fire’ to name just two but it’s not all bad, my top 15 or so to some extent I like but none will end up on my everyday listening… I know that he’s a great musician and a very capable lyricist, I fully understand why some love him but sorry to say he does little for me…
The Stranger … She’s Always A Woman, Just The Way You Are, Only The Good Die Young ... 4/5
An Innocent Man … The Longest time, This Night, Uptown Girl, Leave A Tender Moment Alone 4/5
Streetlife Serenade … Weekend Song, Souvenir 3.75/5
Turnstiles … Summer Hyland Falls, All You Wanna Do Is Dance 3.5/5
Glass Houses … It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me, Through The Long Night 3.5/5
Cold Spring Harbor … Why Judy Why, Nocturne 3/5
    Piano Man … Piano Man
River Of Dreams … River Of Dreams, Lullabye
    52nd Street … My Life
The Nylon Curtain … Where’s The Orchestra
    Storm Front...
    The Bridge...
    TOP 10 SONGS...
    10… Where’s The Orchestra
    09… She’s Got A Way
08… All You Wanna Do Is Dance
    07… Why Judy Why
06… Leave A Tender Moment Alone
    05… Lullabye
04… It’s Still Rock & Roll To Me
    03… Through The Long Night
    02… She’s Always A Woman
01… Just The Way You Are
So long story short, Billy is not for me but the good news is Kate Bush, The Who, Simon & Garfunkel & CCR yet to come... RANK ON...

Billy can certainly be divisive for sure. I love Billy Joel but I recognise that he's not universally loved. To say the least. 😆

Absolutely horrible putting Piano Man last. the song, Piano Man is better than the entire bridge album

Agree. Nearly every song on the album is great.
