  • Uthsava is derived from Sanskrit.Utsava generally means a festival or celebration or any joyous occasion. It also carries the meaning of delight, merriment and pleasure. The Sanskrit word Utsava comes from the word "ut" meaning "removal" and "sava" which means "worldly sorrows" or "grief".
During the festival, the Utsava-murti (processional deity) of the presiding deity along with his consorts will be taken on a procession on different Vahanams on the streets(Madaveedulu) surrounding the temple.

The video is a Uthsava being celebrated in the Sri Vedanta Desikar Srinivasa perumal temple, Mylapore.
Located right next to the Kesavaperumal temple and sharing a wall with it the temple is 300 years old. As seen it is a Vadagalai temple. Initially it was a temple for Sri.Vedanta Desikar. The shrine of the great teacher Vedantha Desika is the one that faces north and it is the first shrine one sees in the temple. Sri Vedantha Desika lived over 730 years ago in South India. He wrote erudite commentaries on Ramanuja's Sribhashyam, Gita Bhashyam and was a great exponent of Visishtadvaita
