  • President Joe Biden is contemplating sending Stryker Armored Vehicles to Ukraine ahead of a potential renewed push by Russian forces in the coming months, according to reports. General Dynamics has unveiled a new Stryker armored vehicle variant capable of firing laser weapons, launching attack drones, and conducting electronic warfare operations. Called the StrykerX, the new military vehicle features a hybrid-electric engine that provides soldiers with longer “silent watch” capability. It is also engineered to improve troops’ battlefield awareness and fire airburst rounds with long-range precision.

Then looking at what's available and changing it to fit the new scenario. Nothing radical just evolution if it's not broke don't fix it . This will give the Stryker x stealth capabilities, and with night vision it will be able to move around like a ghost ! . Question will the weight increase and if it has will this affect the vehicles ability to be transported.

    Good luck recharging the batteries when empty. While conventional apc's etc are refueld quickly, electricity takes much longer and you have to have the electr-recharge infrastructure for it. Eelectricity at the battlefield is hard to get. But hey ho, the military is going green LOL

    • @AirShark95
      @AirShark95 Před rokem

      It's not full electric, its a hybrid. The diesel engine will recharge the batteries. When running in "silent" mode, the batteries can help keep the vehicle running without putting out a lot of noise and heat (very important for maintaining a low thermal signature). Plus, electric motors are excellent at delivering torque and will be very handy to have when dealing with poor terrain, steep inclines, or when towing heavy objects. On top of that, they help cut down on fuel consumption, reducing the strain on logistics.
      Using hybrid technology in a military environment is perfectly logical and gives a LOT of additional advantages besides being "green". Submarines and warships have been doing this sort of power setup for decades now.

      Russia and u.s have different ways of waging wars , btr and Stryker each one of them have it's advantages and disadvantages
      So Stryker not having the same fire as btr doesn't mean it is worse it is just not designed to fight the same way as btr 82

    • @DU-km3bw
      @DU-km3bw Před rokem +1

      Depends on the variant. Most BTRs like BTR 60 and 70 use heavy machine guns I think, 14.5 mm. The newest BTR 80 do have bigger guns but as you can see in Ukraine, there aren’t much of them

      @@DU-km3bw meant the BTR 80 yeah, more specifically the best version they got, the BTR 82A. They had a total of around 1500 before the war startet, where around 400-500 BTR-80’s have been lost (all variants), so got about a 1000-1100 total BTR-80’s left…

      The striker is being upgraded as we speak so it will be able to overmatch the BTRs. Stryker's now have tow missile launchers, motar carriers, Command and Control variants and lighter armed (battle taxi's) with 50cals and mk 19s.
      They had a support 105mm Stryker that is being retired. (Hope I didn't miss any varriants.)
      The current programs are testing are the 30mm auto cannons(these have been already show cased and I think fielded in small numbers) , a new AAA system with a 30mm chain gun airburst capabilities, stingers and a AAA anti drone capability jammer.
      The 30mm Dragoon will over match BTRs and help better support infantry.

      Solid list....seeing as the US has defeated every one them or bailed them out of comprehensive defeats.
      China LOL....They haven't had an original idea since the Ming Dynasty. The most derivative thinkers on the planet....If they can't copy it they fake it until they can steal enough to make a convincing enough lookalike.
      Your idea of newer always wins is brilliant...
      Total number of vehicles, the training, or the technology leveraged is always exactly even...
      So you think the US would lose to a tiny European nations defense force with a small number of "newer" IFV's
      against all the US military as they usually bring it all.....even if they were using series 3 or 4 Strykers like the ones given to Ukraine.....
