    the rattling sound from over throttling is coming from the mini heat shield.
    may need to use a heat resistant poly silicone washer between the heat shield and mount. . . or possibly a spacer.
    excellent vid !

    I've got the same RS3, but that's all. No air intake or remapping due to $$$. But out of curiosity would you know if I just swapped out my stock paper air filter with a SP Takegawa Power Filter (online claims Power Filter improves the output performance of the entire revolution area simply by exchanging with the normal air filter)? I've heard simply changing out the air filter can make the bike go slower, which I definitely dont want. I dont expect the Takegawa to do anything spectacular, but wondered if the extra air might jive with the Yoshi pipe a bit better? Or be the opposite. Tnx for any knowledge you could share.

      @eastcoastish  Před 4 lety +1

      Without an ECU tune or a stand alone fuel management system it probably won't do much. I doubt it would make it any slower but I wouldn't expect much. The Cameron Jones Racing ECU map is pretty affordable, that and a cam would give you a noticeable boost in power without breaking the bank.

      @@eastcoastish Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Saved me from tossing money out for nothing. I'll be saving up for the upgrades you mentioned. Much appreciated.

    How does it run without the O2 sensor is it running too lean without the back pressure of the stock muffler. Out here shops are putting a power commander on it to make up for the more fuel and leanness of the pipe

      motorcycleguy73 great question I haven’t heard anyone say how it runs without tuner

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  Před 5 lety

      I only have about 30 miles on it since I installed, so far everything feels good, honestly nothing really noticeable other than the sound. I have the Yuminashi ECU that I was going to install but also am looking at the Power Commander. There aren't any maps available for the Monkey yet though and with the O2 sensor, the set costs about the same as the exhaust.

      @burz Před 5 lety +2

      Various thoughts on removal of the full system, O2, if you need a tuner etc. It is pretty accepted that the bike runs lean in general from the factory for emissions. If you replace the pipe it will run more lean, if you replace the intake it will run even more lean (so much so it could damage things). The factory "tuner" can probably keep it from causing issues with just the pipe swap but not with the pipe and intake. I have a Takagawa pipe on order for mine, it is a stock "performance" replacement that uses the stock heat shield and maintains that look and heat shield so if I run a passenger around they are not toasted on performance parts. We will see how that goes on and performs. The Yoshi pipe and packaging and quality is very good. I have almost spent as much on mods as I did my bike so far, so if I swap the intake I will have to add the tuner, but I am not there quite yet. This is a good video of the install, I will link it from my site and see if we can get you some more views and subs.

    Asking you since you are Honda Monkey Guru in my opinion. I just ordered a Yoshi RS3, but already have the Kitaco Skid Plate. Do you have any knowledge if they are compatible fitment wise? I called Yoshi and they didn't know. Figured it could hurt to ask. Tnx for any info.

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  Před 4 lety

      I doubt it will fit without modifications. The RS3 comes straight down and to the right of the bike and it looks like the skid plate would interfere.

    Hey shoot us a line we will send you out a new mounting bracket. Sorry you had this issue there we a few that went out with the early mount. We keep a tight tolerance and from the bike we developed on to the production bike it moved a bit and our first bracket did not allow for the difference.

    Normally the price of a race pipe will include the cost of research and development. $560 is a lot of money for a pipe that costs around $60 to manufacture and when the mounting bracket doesn't even fit the bike, it makes me wounder how much Yoshimura is ripping us off.

      @YoshimuraUSA Před 5 lety +1

      I don't have a new pipe for my monkey but I have had a couple of yoshimura pipes before. They are not overpriced in my opinion. They are pretty damn good quality and when you consider the R&D that needs to happen for each specific model they release an exhaust for, I think they represent good value. They are allowed a bit for their brand name and they are in business to make a profit, but I've never found it excessive. $60 to manufacture I doubt is true but even if it was, theres a world of difference between moving from the drawing board, to testing, to production and then to distribution. It all costs money, so we cant complain if the price is more than the material cost. This isn't communist russia. Honestly, I can say I don't feel Yoshi overprice their stuff when you consider the range of models they make exhausts for and the size of their business/reassurance that provides customers. Not affiliated with yoshimura.

      It may be a lot of money but the monkey and bananas on the pipe is a nice touch. Not to mention the sound is damn good. There is no other pipe out there that I would want on my bike.
