My husband and I just watched several of your videos in Calabash and Cherry Grove, where we will be vacationing soon. We live in the High Point/Thomasville area and enjoyed watching our favorite places in Cherry Grove. I’ve just watched the beautiful story of your reunion and hung on every word. You all are so special, and John was blessed with his wonderful parents. I look forward to watching more videos in your vast library!

We appreciate your comment so much. Yes, Shawnasi and John finding each other back in 2005, was truly a miracle, and God's hand was at work in that situation. She was just at work one day, and the thought just came to her, to Google her dad's name. He had just put the ad out there on that website. Had they both not done that, this all would not have happened.
It is still amazing to us how this fell into place, after all these years.
Thanks so much for watching, and for commenting!

Thank you John and Shanessy. This telling of your stories reminds me of the pain of abandonment of my father and the years I have spent trying to get through it. Our heavenly fathers love is the only way. He will never abandon us and it is enough. God used my not having an earthly father in so many ways in my life. My brother reconnected with him and so did I for a short time in my 30’s. Finally I could forgive and get to know him a bit (6 months) before he died. God bless you both.

Wow. I will say very touching videos. I don't have a relationship with my family. I've lived with ptsd for 36 years from a traumatic brain injury and am just now getting benefits, so saying that family is and should be a major priority in life. I can tell family is very important to shawnasi as it should, so I can shed a tear because I dont have a family, but I have one watching your videos. Maybe one day I can share my last 36 years my story this last year has been a total miracle. My wife has been with me for 14 years without her and my yellow lab. My life would be totally different at times. I think we all feel broken in our lives. The spiritual things that have happened are more than amazing. So, saying all this, I have very much respect for both of you. You make my heart. feel warm.

@@NCMemoryMakersIt’s definitely God’s hand in all of this…My twin sister and I were adopted by our biological Dad’s oldest sister in 1965, our biological dad was very irresponsible and only married once. That Union produced my twin sister and myself, as well as 3 other siblings that we did not get to grow up with. But, ironically, here we all are living in NC and two siblings live just 7 miles sway. My twin lives in Roaring River NC. Sadly, our baby brother (who was also adopted by another family member in 1964) grew up in Montana. He died 3 years ago at age 57. We never got to meet him. So definitely, one person’s decisions makes an impact on many other lives. There remains a lot of bitterness, anger, frustration, and resentment. But, we were innocent bystanders. LOVE by GOD prevailed..Thank you for sharing this to the world. I have no doubt it has, and will help others out there who are, and have gone thru similar life events.

Wow, our stories are similar. My Dad was married 7 times, and my Mom was #6. I didn't know about all of his past until I discovered my brother. I've been doing some research on Ancestry.com to see what I can find. I know of an older sister, but I've not been able to make contact yet.
I'm glad you were able to make peace with your Dad. Our relationship with Jesus and our salvation are most important in our lives.
I'm sorry it took me a while to respond to your comment. I'm just finding it tonight. Thank you for watching and sharing your story. Have a blessed night!

I must have missed how they were separated and why he was adopted?

Their father walked out when John was less than a year old.
He eventually married Shawnasi's mom, which was his 5th wife. He had more children with her...Shawnasi, and her brothers and sisters. Shawnasi knew of her half-brothers and half-sisters in NC, from one previous marriage. But she didn't know about John, or her dad's marriage to John's mother in California.
John was adopted by his mom's husband now, when he was about 5 years old...The man who appeared at the end of the video. That is why John has a different last name. We was raised as Ed's son, although Shawnasi's dad is his biological father.

We appreciate your kind words, and thank you for sharing your own personal story with us.
And you are correct...When our earthly fathers fail us, we have a Father who never will. I am glad you were able to reconnect with him before his passing.
