Violence Against the Mentally Ill - "A Call for Help" - A WRAL Documentary

- On Jan. 5, 2014, the parents of 18-year-old Keith Vidal of Boiling Spring Lakes called 911 for help because their son was having a schizophrenic episode. Law enforcement officers responded, and one of the officers shot and killed Vidal.
The incident is a tragic example of what can happen when police and deputies encounter people with mental illness. That’s something that’s happening more frequently in North Carolina, largely as a side effect of efforts to reform the state’s mental health care system.

We called for help for my sister who was in the middle psychosis... In the 911 call my cousin said she needs help.. That call response ended with her being ahot 21 times. We must change this. The shooting was July 22 2019 and we are still pushing for change..

The training sounds good, but what happens if the person just cant listen to reason. Maybe they should be able to fire a tranquilizer if there getting to out of hand. So they can safely move them to a secure facility that can deal with there needs.
Such a good documentary..good job. Yet only 280 views...sad state of affairs in this world. There is a similar Canadian video called 'Hold Your Fire' by Bountiful Films that I totally recommend. This totally relates to all the shootings happening today..
