  • First run with the 5ive B. It was fun but more power will be needed to make this something I really want to run.

    Cool buggy i hope you still have it, I'm thinking about electric converting a Losi 5ive T 2.0 with the top tuning kit and Hobbywing or Castle system i have heard a few people had their XLX2's catch fire i hope yours hasn't and it won't. But i do also plan do an X-Maxx and 8S Kraton EXB together as well as a few other projects before i get to the 5T so it might be 2025 or 2026 by the time i have a 5T. But i think your 5ive B is really awesome.

    Awesome first run! Yeah it was a tad slow on pavement, but it looked strong on the grass. I would guess that the taller pinion and a diff tune will help it out quite a bit. Looking forward to seeing that. I am with you on the prices of upgrades and new trucks in general. Prices of everything is just through the roof now, which is a bummer... Really like how the buggy looks and drives man, seems to be more nimble than something like a DBXLE, and that mechanical brake looks really interesting.

      @JasonPerrinRCVlogs  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey, So yeah compared to the DBXL-E this does handle and drive a lot better. I've owned a few DBXL-Es and they are nice but not the same quality as the 5ive B and T. I don't think a diff oil and pinion change is going to do what I want for this buggy. If I go up on the pinion I will have to start with cooling issues. I will give it a try though. I have diff oil and I do have a larger pinion. I am going to replace the fans in that power hobby fan thing I have. But, I do believe the answer to this buggy is a larger esc and running 12s.

    Are you using your mechanical brakes? Or are you using the motor for braking? I’m currently converting my losi 5 mini wrc into a 1100 kv xlx2 and I can’t figure out how to use my mechanical brakes and I like to use my original battery for the servos. I can’t seem to find a solution.

    • @JasonPerrinRCVlogs
      @JasonPerrinRCVlogs  Před 2 lety

      Mechanical. You need to use a radio that allows you to "Mix" channels.

    Smaller spur larger pinion just to start. Even just a larger pinion 18t from 16t will make a noticeable difference 4sure. Million weight center diff fluid with 30k to 50k front & rear. But at the end of the day i expected more than 8s out of the XLX2. 8s isn't enough for 30+ pounds.

    Ihave mechanical brakes on my DBXL-E 2.0 using the XLX2 and Futaba 7pxr i still have my reverse using a spare channel to disengage my brake servo to allow reverse while using custom brake setting in castle link to 0%.

    That motor doe's not look man enough to propel a 5th scale buggy lol. But if it has a lot of torque it would be a better race buggy where top end is not really an issue more on handling and durability so is the engine actually for 5th scale vehicles looks more like what I would put in my LOSI SBR clone truck.

But I am new to the big electric stuff I have eight working and ten in all gas off-road trucks and buggies along with a Nitro Savage an electric Super-Moto bike and now a UDR and a Super Baja Rey clone which was far better than the V1 SBR nearly as good as the V2 which I want, so still green on them and had some expensive mistakes so screwed some expensive batteries receivers and an ESC, and still struggling to get the UDR telemetry and lights to work from my mobile with no luck and I like telemetry I run it on all my gas vehicles.
