  • Assigning Faders is an amazing feature that all engineers that work on, or plan to work on should know about. It isn't immediately obvious, so I thought I'd make a instructional about it.

There is a quicker way of doing this go to the layer section on the master screen then select and clear the layers. Could only be the SD10 tho..

Hello mate, thanks for the vid. I have a monitor job with an SD12 coming up, never used one before. The stress!!
Can you create a fader bank from scratch or you have to copy an existing one to an empty bank slot and then reassign the faders you want?

It looks like the input ch stays? Example...bass ch is in input 10, but is on fader 4... Thats not good for my way of thinking...i wish if the order is arranged, the input matches the fader position...(like x32, m32). This way is confusing, and would require etxra steps to reassign inputs as well...

Its all in how you deal with it. When i get a patch list on a festival that is a global list, you don't want channels that you're not using clogging up the mixer. This way, you don't have to reassign any of the patching and you can choose what you want on a layer in the same way as custom fader layers on a Yamaha or A&H. You would reassign inputs in the normal way, your patch doesn't change, input 10 would still be in xlr 10 and that is always visible at the top of the channel strip on a Digico. I completely respect the fact that everyone has their own preferred way of working though so many thanks for your thoughts.
