Ruyi was such a kind soul, she really cared about others, each time she told a concubine 'You can only say that to me' she was showing she cared about their safety but also that she respected the fact they all had thoughts of their own and feelings they wanted to express but were not able to do so, and having to keep all that inside for the sake of appearances festered lots of hate between the women. Ruyi knew that and she also knew honesty was the best policy. That is why the concubines that ended up loving her like a sister felt about her, she showed them respect by allowing them to express their feelings and thought and not judged them for it.

She better had not betrayed her, i didn't watch the show but with the few clips i Saw, it's obvious that Ruyi valued her more than the emperor. The way she would look at her was so kind and warm.

Yihuan is actually my favorite before Ruyi. Since the ChongYang Festival, there was something about her character that reminds me of this, “I don’t want to die, but I’m not keen on living either” (yes this is from Robbie William’s song ik). Her thoughts are connected but somehow disconnected from worldly affairs; she only had her eyes on the Emperor, never really bothered about other concubines/consorts (even though Ruyi was an exception, that was a mutual respect there). Sadly she was only the pawn, & the Emperor only learned the truth of Yihuan’s love towards him later in the days.
And we all know what his response would be, “I’m an Emperor, I rule the world, what’s past is past, don’t put the blame on me” 🤦🏻♀️🙄
