  • An excellent example of why these trucks have performed so well for the city. 300 after 300 after 300, this thing never slows down. You'll even get to see it gobble up a massive television box in just a few sweeps of the packer, something that the ram packer on a Curbtender would be attempting to digest for quite some time. The video starts with the very first can of the day and continues until the truck had 29 300s and 5 95s in it less than 20 minutes later (these 24 cubic yard Scorpions can get about 130-150 cans in a load on a recycle route like this of mostly 300s).
    Thanks to the driver and thanks to Eli for lending me his GoPro.

    Great video ! Probably one of my favorite trucks to watch for a hopper video due to the packer. Love watching 300s get dumped as well Lucky you borrowed the GoPro from Eli lol that ending was great

    Great video, I would like to see the pos curbtender eat the tv box like this scorpion did. The curbtender needs a crusher panel to help it out but their still a pos. Whoever came up with the scorpion design was a genius. I would love to see a scorpion hopper shot as it packs out. I spent most of my carrier working shu-packs and for the most part they were ok for residential but can't hold a candle to today's high power side loaders.

      Ken Wright scorpions are the best! We have curbtenders and some new amreps. They’re are both junk in my opinion. I love my scorpion, they pack everything and the in cab controls to operate the arm are far superior than anything I’ve ever run.

    Good video. Scorpions are by far the best.

    If a trash cart fell in this packer would gobble it up a lot faster than any other packer that I know of! :D

    Happily watched a good chunk of both the Curbtender and Scorpion hopper videos, always makes it more entertaining with these bigger 300s putting up more of a challenge - it's a laugh when the little carts get tipped and piss all falls out =] Something I've thought about these Scorpion packers is their "home" position with the sweep open and slide extended - while it makes sense for tipping travels, kind of a disadvantage during the run with the big bins. Would be a lot more effective having the sweep closed and retracting into the body, allowing that large empty space for the contents of a 300g to drop in unobstructed, rather than the blade temporarily taking up half of the hopper capacity during a lift cycle. Also a bit more efficient in this case, seeing that when the packer begins the cycle it's actually straight into the scoop and feed stage, compared to starting with the "reload" stroke. Not sure exactly how the Scorpion is controlled, but I imagine you can start auto pack before the containers are tipped into the hopper... would be a proactive move for the driver :D What a way for the camera to make an exit at the end... heart would've stopped if that was my filming apparatus haha

      he actually will start the pack cycle early occasionally which can be seen at 14:58. It would be nice though if the operator had the option of manually choosing where the packer's home position is, depending on the type of route being collected. lol In regards to the camera falling off, I had actually thought it fell into the truck and we spent a solid 10 minutes digging through the hopper just to discover it had fallen onto the ground and had hidden itself behind another 300

    Am I the only one that thought that the tv box at 9:18 was the one that he meant? I was like a Curbtender can easily pack that. Then at 12:45 that big box came out of the bin, I was like this thing can't be stopped at all! Also what an ending.

    • @WasteManTony
      @WasteManTony  Před 6 lety +2

      the driver can't see this exact view, but towards the top right corner of the screen you can see another camera that feeds to a monitor in the cab for him to see.
