- People living near the new UBS Arena say parking mayhem is driving them crazy. Patrons are taking their cars to the neighborhood streets of Elmont; CBS2's Jennifer McLogan reports.
Why doesnt USA make underground parking halls? Here in Finland those are super common, they also work as wartime shelters.
I always take the NICE bus to the arena. I take the N32 to the Hempstead transit center and then I take the N6 to the arena. The N6 runs every 15-20 minutes. It’s always very crowded but not with fans unfortunately. It’s $5.50 round trip. I refuse to pay $40 for parking in the South Lot and I refuse to park in the neighborhood because I don’t want to get into an accident. I respect the people who live in the neighborhood nearby but too many fans are not. Hopefully when the parking garage opens this won’t be an issue anymore.
I appreciate your thoughtfulness. I have been living in that neighborhood for almost 30 years. This place has turned on it's head because of this place.
@@ChannelZero1031 I actually park my car in West Hempstead now near my aunts house. I don’t make any noise and just mind my own business because it’s a quiet neighborhood. I also don’t go to every single game. I’m not a season ticket holder. If I go sporadically I’m ok with parking in West Hempstead because I do have family that lives there.
@@kobyschechter8163 Understood. So you basically park in West Hempstead and make your way to Elmont?
@@ChannelZero1031 Yup. Because I know the neighborhood and it’s quiet.
@@kobyschechter8163 I understand
I mean we knew this was gonna happen
We sure did.
So, would it be better, we park at our hotel and uber or catch some sort of rideshare over to the arena?? It looks a mess.
@Bryan Holden Do you know if that'll be by end of February?
@@AR1GAT0 take the LIRR
@@folladordeprostis I winded up staying 7 mins drive away from UBS in Jamaica Queens. Problem was, no rideshare or cabs accepted ride requests during the surge. It was too cold and late at night to walk alone. I winded up taking some sort of taxi hack, which was dangerous but my phone was dying -__-

1:49 Unfortunately, this is New York. I’m still quite a new driver, having only owning a license for just over a year now after 3 previously failed attempts at the road test. (Over 2 different counties. 1st attempt was at the Wantagh site in like August ‘21, then I moved from Nassau to Suffolk county not even a week later, and my remaining 2 failed and the 4th successful attempts were all at the Brentwood site from October ‘21- January ‘22.) But as any New Yorker who isn’t living under a rock knows, there is traffic literally EVERYWHERE. And the sad part is, if there was a major traffic incident that had required immediate medical personnel on a Parkway/Interstate (For example, The Northern/Southern State Parkways, or the LIE [Aka the Long Island Expressway, or in the Interstate system, I-495]) people would NOT make room for any emergency vehicle WHATSOEVER. No matter where you look, whether it be on a major or local, or even a remote roadway, there’s traffic. It’s a HUGE issue, that is gonna be complicated to solve, especially because of Manhattan’s connections to basically the World’s Economy.
LMAOOO bro wtf I passed first try and I drive fucking crazy everyday💀
I heard the parking there is terrible
The same at Yankee stadium
They still haven't opened the new parking deck
When the parking garage opens this should be resolved. It’s the first season at UBS Arena. There will be growing pains.
Bob Barker mutated. 🧐
👌
Heard the parking fees are ridiculous there though. Understandable why people park on residential blocks. My aunt and uncle went to the new arena they said its like $50 to park if I'm hearing correctly. That is robbery!
me too. we’re going to watch Journey nextweek. I will just park my car somewhere😊
I paid $50 last night - insane
They change the price of parking based on the popularity of the event, which is ridiculous. It should remain one price
I once paid $41 to park in the South Lot. It’s the farthest lot from the arena. It’s ludicrous. I always take the bus to the arena. I park my car at my aunts house in West Hempstead and then I go to the nearest bus stop on Hempstead Turnpike. The N6 runs every 15-20 minutes along Hempstead Turnpike and it runs 24 hours a day.
Yes it cost us $50 to park in the parking garage on June 30th for NKOTB concert. Expensive but very safe, cameras everywhere n security
Good there is a a lot of parking space in li . Y’all too boogie they got commercial type parking on residential streeets no parking from 8-6pm also the roads are shitty pothole mountain terrain shitty
Iron Maiden will play there in October
All they care about is money. They care less about what any resident thinks.
More cry babies, that’s how it is when you have 8 mil people within 3O miles
Seriously. These people want to own 2 acres of land in a congested city. Move upstate or south if you want space and land.

Not one American was interviewed. Lol
So because they don't sound or look like like you they aren't american?
They pay Taxes, have Property and live in one of the most diverse places in the world..... they are more American than you, probably still renting an apartment.
@@nerve. Look at taxation by race statistics.
@@ftmb1022 yes.
Why does that matter?
Hopefully this helps white people move in to the neighborhood! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
