- This video covers around 20 hours of real work, from welding to steering componentry overhaul. I completely mis-judged how much work would be required to get the Defender to an MOT standard. One missed booking, 2 full days plus some evenings working on it and it is done
Welding on the rear chassis, started as a small patch and ended much bigger
New steering arms, the old ones would not budge and I had to resort to cutting them off!
Huge thanks to JGS 4x4 and Maltings Off-Road for supplying the parts(not a sponsor!)

Big patch replaced there ! Good work mate
It'll be a patchwork quilt of ugly welds by the time i finish with it!
It's the mud that's collected in the chassis that cause the corrosion. It will never dry. Buy the extra hose to your pressure cleaner for unclogging the drain and run it through in the holes of the chassis a few times per year and will clean it perfectly from the inside. I always do this with my Landcruiser HZJ97 and have no problems with rust.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll certainly see about picking one up!
@@Benallen32 Yeah, you will be surprised how much dirt is running out there 👍
Any suggestions as to where to get one? Or do you think they're all pretty much the same?
@@Benallen32 Depends on the brand of your pressure cleaner. I have Kärcher. It has to fil in the pistol. Cheers!
Ah understandable, I appreciate the help!
