    Got this as a link after I watched The Who do this live on Beat Club . Keith going apeshit on drums ,awesome . The Jam also did a great version .

      Keith Moon, on those first four albums, was an absolute monster on his way to Buddy Rich status. Sadly, booze and drugs took him down and by Who's Next he wasn't a shadow of his former self.

      @@raymondkitchen6137 I tend to agree; the first six records are really where it's at. I'd probably add "Quadrophenia" just because it's the peak of Townshend's songwriting and an amazing concept album.

    Very cool. A Townshend composition mid-60s. My mom always liked the harmonies, when I would play it back in the day. Great cover.

      well he was caught by the police for doing some really heinous shit which he admitted to, so it's really easy to dislike him as a person, but he did write some great songs

    Never seen this performance before! Awesome… I see Kelley was sticking with the business casual look at this early stage a la the “Safari” video… and I guess Jo couldn’t make it… Cool to see Jimmy McPherson playing the kettle drums! Classic Who song… doubtless chosen by Kim, lamenting the Pixies recent break up…

    Great cover by The Who, it's a beautiful poetry of separation, a little unexpected for Breeders, and great work, although I would add more power to the vocals, but it's also nice to see

      I’m pretty sure I heard Kim mention that they did a TV appearance with some session players and a drummer looked like he was jerking. I don’t know if she was referring to this but they were laughing about it with the guy after the show.

    Always loved this song. Like all great songs it doesn't really belong to anyone. It can only be interpreted. And this is the best of the lot. Kim is a special person.

      Belly was already technically started before she entered. their EP dropped June 29. Safari dropped April 6. she switched bands sometime between March and July I guess.

      @@notsure6187 Also, I know Letterman in those days would sometimes have only the frontmen on the show, and the house band would fill in. Drove a lot of people crazy when they'd do that shit. I was wondering if she felt snubbed by not being featured, even though she was lead on the album.

      It's the Keith Moon factor lol They recorded his drums in a way not very common in 1966... also Pete was precise with his guitar in the original. I think maybe Kim wanted a more loose version... it's a gamble.

    Much better than the WHO. This doesn't mean i like the song or the band. Some of the melody reminds of the Beatles "If I needed Someone" and some other song.
