Looks great. The sand here in NC drains out quickly, too. The only problem with it is how soft it gets when it gets really dry. Got a streak in my driveway that will almost turn to powder in a dry stretch.

The dirt work looks good!. Not as easy to do with a dozer as people think. I discovered your channel about a week ago and have been binge watching all of them!. The wife probably thinks I have been picked up by space aliens or something I have been in my man cave so long. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your vids. I used to run a cable rig D 10 back in the 70s.

We have a lot of clay soil here in west-central MN, we are totally swamped. 9inches of rain in the last 2wks have beans underwater in places and the low spots in some fields are feet deep with runoff. The sandy pockets around us are the only areas that will support a combine if the next week+ is dry and we don't get any more rain.

I still think where that clay is, and where your parking area will be that rock pile toted straight to there will stop that from being a mudhole around your shop area. Like an 18" deep layer of rock and red sand under the parking area around the shop will then leave that higher part suitable for the building and concrete pad with good steel mesh, so the settling sand won't let the concrete crack. That is a lot of rain. I grew up in Oregon and when we had a fall SW'er dump 4 or 5 inches overnight everything had water everywhere. I miss that because it was so exciting to have gushing ditches everywhere around my grade school in the early 50's.

Squatch, Bet you are glad you did not get the 45 plus inches of snow some parts of Montana got. Water is a great way to see where fill is needed and where the slopes are. Loved the black and white treatmemt of the previous dozer footage. Was it that long ago? I got as close to you as Fargo on my western road trip vacation. What beautiful scenery.

Christ. This weather is getting pretty bad. I know the feeling though. I work on a golf course and every time we get half an inch of rain, it seems like all the cart paths get washed out, or all the bunkers become little lakes. We’ve had so much rain in the past 2 years that there are now spots on the golf course that have almost become permanently swampy. Even after a few months of decently hot weather the ground is still very very soft. Mother Nature has gotten tough. Just gotta do what you can.

Water in the right amounts is great. Too much is just that and it happens fast in alaska cause we either have gravel or clay and most is clay which we call muskeg and it stinks when wet and hold tons of mosquitoes. I like the fact that there are no snakes or fleas up here. AS we connect more to the lower forty eight, the more bugs and contamination we have.

A great time to burn a burn pile like that is right after it rains like that. If you can get it going, it is very hard to set the world on fire when it is all soaking wet. Looks good, sand normally washes real bad unless it is fairly flat. So is that fairly flat or more a type of clay sand that will stick a bit better to itself?

Five inches of rain is nothing to sneeze at. Nevertheless, a couple questions. Is there a clay base fairly close to the surface ? I am guessing your area was heavily glaciated back when. Meaning the soil including very finely ground particles that do not allow rapid water movement like that red sand. Interesting just how important it is to pay close attention to all of the things that add up to just what you can farm and prosper on your land.Cheers
