Notorious gangsta rapper X-Raided was born Anarae Jones in Waco, TX, and raised primarily in Sacramento, CA. Shortly after releasing his 1992 debut LP Psycho Active, he was convicted on murder charges -- in fact, the album's violent lyrics were even cited as evidence at the trial. While languishing in prison, X-Raided managed to record another album entirely over the telephone, a painstaking process eventually yielding 1995's Xorcist. Unforgiven followed four years later and Initiation was issued in early 2001.

@@JohnDoe-vk3vv nope, his previous album was recorded over the phone, not this one, he got ahold of a portable recorder and did it from his cell. I think he actually got in trouble after the co's heard it. That's why dot dogg is in the background on every track, he was his cellmate. Also just audio wise you can tell this isn't over a phone.

This song wasn’t recorded over a phone. They used a DAT recorder. Black Market payed a prison guard to sneak it in and record it.
You are probably thinking of the Xorcist album where he rapped over the phone when he was still in the county jail fighting his murder charges.
I believe it was the later albums like Nefarious and Vengeance Is Mine where he went back to recording the songs over the phone. You can hear it in some of the later songs where they don’t sound as clear and you can hear a faint snapping sound in the background because they would use snapping of the fingers to keep the rap on beat.
