10 types of melodies you should know about - (FL Studio/Ableton Live/Studio One/Logic Pro) - Hudba
What other types of melodies would you add to this list?
Balkan style brooo wtf
i like everything but i like the pluck sounds :D ~
call and response maybe... or polyphony but you kinda did that already with the 'staggered' one.
Great vid. I tend to use 2 sounds of different instruments and let them complement eachother for a melody and counter melody.. Not sure what to call it, but it works well
Story Melody
i never thought of types in meldies and nobody ever talks about it, so thank you for this video
That's because it's a Nick's concept.
Same here, tnx for sharing ✌🏽👌🏾
Drums SO hard wtf
Splice for you baby
Seriously
Honestly this is something you won’t find on producer CZcams vids so this is a gem right here. Thanks guys for giving me a video I didn’t know I needed this much❤️
splice covers in detail what 99% of producers rarely if not does not talk about in their video. this is gem content!
Whenever I need ideas and inspiration, I made sure to visit this channel and it impresses me all the time. Self-thought and self produce isn't that hard anymore. Keep it coming Splice!
The Slow Cooker is nice.
This is why this channel is unique
Very nice! I love how informative this was and how different DAWs were used.
Basically an ad for Pigments lol does sound good though :)
Id get it just coz of dis lol, tnx for making me aware of this probably paid sponsorship
@@prod.dopamine sup bruh
@@Egybeats lol suh, u clicked on the correct video :D
damn bro the first beat
I can’t believe how eye opening seeing a contour shape over the melody was.
I love your categorizations. It's amazing isn't it how much the melody and sound sets the vibe for a song, for each of your examples my brain was going that's a house track, that's dnb, that's pop, that's soul etc.
I absolutely salute this guy's knowledge. always original and inspiring.
Who did this tutorial? Need to see more of him
@nickthechen
Always appreciate someone who chunks down information! Good stuff!!
Love the procrastinator! :)
"The Duck Duck Goose" - A melody that repeats its initial phrase 2 or more times before finishing in a more extravagant way. There has to be a better name for it though.
There are lots of these melodies in all kinds of genres but Pokemon's Route 1 theme is one that will forever be stuck in my head: czcams.com/video/uXv7DjdasHI/video.html
Another more contemporary EDM example (TheFatRat - Windfall): czcams.com/video/jqkPqfOFmbY/video.html
This is a good one!
fountain of melodies was inspiring
this is pure quality. thank you
Fantastic video. This actually helped me discover a style of melody I’ve been searching for but didn’t know what it was. I only knew what it sounded like when I’ve heard it. Now that I see how it can be laid out I can use it. Thx so much!!
Glad to hear this!!
what type of melody was it?
@@jakobjohnson1836 it’s “the slow burner”.
@@wale.a Slow Cooker?
@@blakeb8139 Yeah. It's weird cos he labelled it "The Slow Burner" in the CZcams Video Timeline indicator. So I'm guessing both names work.
Great video, learned a lot about these common different types of melodies. I didn't know they could be so easily categorized, you did a great job educating.
these beats bussin this guy is rad
Excellent! Well worth watching over and over.
Been searching for a video like this for a long time! Very helpful!
Been using these different types without even knowing about their names or definitions. Feels really good to be able to differentiate them now and put some more intention into constructing melodies!
Yeah the tresillo is used in trap a looooot

Wow, as a beginner I honestly never thought about any of this, I can't wait to get to work! Also, subbed, all.
Godbless splice
If only this video was a thing 3 years ago while I was in a massive dip. Still super awesome to learn the in depth stuff about these melodies!

Nice work.
dude this was fucking awesome thank you bro!
thanks, very helpful
Great tutorial!
Super handy tips nice one.
You are the best.
I like your trap beats.👌🏾
The fountain of melodies looks like I'd use it a lot as I'm a melodic producer. Melodic dubstep, future bass, future/melodic riddim, liquid DnB, melodic bass etc., all my styles will benefit greatly from that melody style alone. Great video, it was very informational. I never knew about the different melody types
very helpful ❤️🔥
that was awesome!!!
For the dynamic duo, I think its fun to duplicate the instrument and slightly modify some aspect (timbre, reverb, pan etc) of the upper or lower note being played. Or even alternating/syncopating which notes get the "flavor". This kind of makes it seem like a new overarching melody.
Thanks for the advice :)♥
This video is so helpful
Very nice..Thank you
Thanks
Really original topic
Very interesting, liked :)
That was a nice guide
Thanks so much, Nick! I’m new to Ableton and I’ve watched a few of your vids that have been extremely helpful- especially your preset list! Keep up the good work, my good man.
The visual tho
So many gems 😭😭
thanks a lot
Please make the slow burner as a full song!
For real 😭
i like to alternate between the root & 5th or the 3rd & 7th (guide tones) of a given chord. I don't know what the name would be for this type of melody, but it always sounds good because you're focusing on the most harmonically strong tones of a chord or scale.
Playing the 3rd & 7th over a dominant 7 chord really helps to emphasize the chord, as the 3rd & 7th of a dominant 7 chord contains a tritone, so you're not always just playing the "safe" notes like you would with pentatonic scales, for example.
I don't even know what this means yet, but I like that you're bringing this kind of knowledge to your answer to the question. Saving for later experimentation so I learn what you're talking about.
Happy to see the name Ship Wrek in your vid! (Timestamp: 3:12) they're a really underrated artist
Anthem type are the best melodies
Nice video thanks
hey i got a heart !!! dam !! thank you splice team...
i need this but for writing phrases, call & responce between instruments. That would be a great insperation. Thanks
god bless you and your family
One of the best implementation of melodies..!✨🔥❣️
great
Omg wow, I have already subscribed to the channel righy away when the person explained The trifecta, hoping that more tutorials are there on this channel. Will check after watching this full video.😍
Man the Pigment Plugin is the best i just bought it
good shit
Keep it 90 👏👏
I liked this video a lot, for the comment I used a good preset from pigments 3 !
You could really stir some shit up by combining that dynamic duo idea with the water fall. Like instead of each sound in the water fall repeating the first melody, write the second sound a 3rd above the first melody, but in the same place as you had it. think that may be interesting.
And you'd still be barely scratching the surface of what Bach was doing 300 years ago.
