I will investigate all three of your recommendations, though I have already heard parts of that Gil Scott Heron record. Tikka Masala is gold! I failed to learn the guitar 😔

Hi David! I remember you mentioning Big Big Train recently. I will give them a listen. I know the name of Gil Scott Heron but not the music. Another one for me to try out. Absolutely terrific Stomu Yamashta album. I have it and love it. I’m not a foodie either, but your description of Tikka Massala is on point. I’ll say it a second time, you would’ve been fun to work with…a regular supplier/buyer meeting with you would be a learning experience and I expect entertaining, though I’ve been told I deliver some memorable verbal moments in a negotiation. Excellent video. ✌️

Mike, I have ZERO doubts about your ability to tie negotiators in knots, and with a smile on your face. Your verbal dexterity is tight up there mate. I didn't say it in the video, but isn't procurement such a great career? I know of no other discipline where young practitioners can test their skills up against seasoned veterans from the other side. When I started out, it was only after less than two weeks the I was sent to Norway to visit a supplier and meet with its senior management team. Amazing experience. I did so much travelling back in the day when visiting suppliers was a thing - regularly all over Europe, and the States - 'Business Class' too! My flatmates had local jobs, particularly one in social housing management, and it was quite a thing in our circle for me to have a job that took me all over the place, and to fancy dinners too. I've made a few pitches to young people about exploring a career in procurement, as it's wonderfully full of variety and interest....and you never stop learning. I'll probably say a lot more about this when I cover the years when I took up my career there (as usual, by accident).
Big Big Train have been prolific, a bit too much so, but 'English Electric' is classic 'Wind and Wuthering'/'Trick of the Tail' for a modern audience. There have been many Genesis copyists in the genre over the years, but none have come close to matching their quality. BBT are very accessible too and, importantly for me, no shredding!

Good choices Dave - not heard of the stevie winwood before- need to check that out and another curry king 🤴 I’m a bit of Biriani man myself with a slightly hotter sauce 😋

Thanks Gav. I'm partial to a Biryani myself, but you can't deny a Tikka Masala - a main course and desert rolled into one!
