@@honokaminsky2751 The last part of the movie took place in Toho filming sets, the same place they mocapped many of the movie's shots, they even show the exact same cameras they've used, a not so subtle way of telling us this is all a show, breaking the 4th wall. You can actually see these places in the 3+1 documentary.
The best thing in the last Rebuild is that Shinji is the one who explains things to other, in this case - to his father, instead of hearing out how other try to help him inside his mind
I absolutely love how in the final movie, Shinji defies everything we know about him, he is no longer a sad moping, cowardly, pathetic character, no, he is now a strong, determined, capable person who will take responsibility for everything he does. In other words; he is a grown up now.

So many timeline resets. So much confusion that some people had to rewatch it later in life to realize the meaning of it all. This was the perfect ending and I’m glad shinji finally made the right choice in the end

No sense of development, just basically a checklist of stuff Shinji must do to grow instead of it feeling natural. And god the EOE references were some of the worst things ever. Now idk if shinji reobtains his memories when the impact starts or something but the references were to point out that he finally made the right choice after making the same mistakes so many times (I.e EOE). Therefore, his character has actually developed because he actually took initiative and decided on what was best for everyone instead of just what was good for himself as he usually does. That’s obvious development right there. I feel like the majority of the scenes with shinji served as him self reflecting on his past transgressions in this timeline, while wallowing in his selfish sadness until he realized it’s not just his life at stake here, that it’s not just about him.
I found out the meme sounds of this. The "EVANGELION" comes from 1st Impression (Sega Saturn) and the music at the end is "False Regeneration" from the End Of Evangelion.
In cinema history it will be remembered as a before Morbius when having the characters say the title was cool and after Morbius when it became impossible to take seriously.
After the movie I realized I was the Neon Genesis Evangelion all along. The way the ending connects to the real world shows that the story continues with you.
My favourite part in all of the NGE series was when Asuka said “I’m gonna End these Evangelions!” And proceeded to get ended by the evangelions. Made me fall to my knees, fall down sideways and start crying in the middle of the Albuquerque desert.

I think the original series and end of eva didnt need to be attached to the rebuilds because he grew similarly in end of eva but in a more realistic way. Instead of a total personality swap like in the rebuilds he just decided to stop running and try to value himself no matter what pain may come. It was baby steps towards the right path.
I watch the movie three times each time I was like missing something finally on the third watch I realized shinji new what he did each time when starting the second impact, near third impact , so on he realized that by starting over the same way hoping to gain level love, people wanting to like him his father especially. He wanted since that what he was doing was right each time he made the choice yet each outcome was the same cycle with different narrative. Finally he realized that what he was doing wasn't helping anyone he soo set that his choices should be based on himself not everyone around him because he believe that none cared for him except rei. I really like how he took upon himself that it's not all about him that he been hiding behind his feeling to escape when finally realizing that he not just hurting but so everyone else he changes become a man and grow up ,it took only 4 rebuild movies to do it lol.
