Ms. Bellum was everything thing I wanted to be, it's not because of the sexy lady body but because of her smart, confidence, and kind attitude. Funny enough, when my sister found the original series in Netflix, she binged the entire thing in a day, while the reboot could barely hold her attention for an entire episode.
Dont wanna contradict your statement but binging the entire OG series within 1 day is physically impossible. Theres 78 episodes (which most are actually 2 episodes) but each one is between 22-23 minutes, somewhere in there. Even if you skip the intros and outros, you can still watch maybe 70 at most within 24 hours

I'm kind of shocked that they removed Miss Bellum, she was the smartest character on the whole show. Her name was literally Sara Bellum (cerebellum = motor control portion of the brain at the base of the spine), she was the brain character. What message was she sending? That women can be intelligent, resourceful, insightful AND be attractive AND have their own running gag? Funniest part is, I think they actually did show her face in one scene, and she pretty much looks like you'd expect. She kind of reminds me of Jessica Rabbit, but with curly hair.

I don’t see superheroes in the 2016 version, they can’t even fight for more than one second or have interesting personalities. Who watches the Powerpuff Girls to watch them fight over a school play to kiss a boy and get their asses kicked every episode?
And the worst part is that this gives people an easy thing to point to and say "Look how progressiveness is ruining the entertainment industry!" Now, progressiveness isn't ruining the entertainment industry; shitty attempts to appeal to progressive demographics is. But it's not easy to see the distinction from the outside, and so it's an understandable mistake to make. So this kind of thing not only fails in what it's trying to do but also gives more ammo to people who are against the very thing the creators supposedly cared about.

To remove any trace of problems in an attempt to shield children, assumes that children are too dumb to figure inherent things for themselves.

Not sure what you’re talking about, the original tom and jerry is the other way around. There was certainly cartoonish violence, but tom and jerry were a lot friendlier towards each other in the original seasons than they were in the reboot. Ms Bellum was one of the best characters on the show. As a kid, never occurred to me that she was supposed to be eye candy for the parents stuck watching the show. What made this show special was it was for both boys and girls. It’s the girliest boys’ show so it has something for everyone. It was so creative and fun. Something that every show made now lacks. They’re soulless cash grabs and that’s all they are.
And that’s because she WASNT! Craig said she was more of an in-office in-joke commentary on feminism & how women in office are oversexualized despite being the brains of the government. Craig said she was based off Monica Lewinsky and they oversexualized her so heavily because they knew people wouldn’t focus on the best part of her, her brain. It’s also why they never showed her head/face. Her name is literally cerebellum and Craig confirmed she is the smartest person in Townsville.
That was the one thing I didn't really agree with. I mean yeah cartoon characters have distinct voices but there's plenty of people who can get like 90% there to replicating it. Voice actors certainly aren't irreplaceable, but many shows do fumble the bag when trying to find new voices.
When I was a kid I didn't see Ms. Bellum as an objectified shell of a person because of the way she dressed and the natural curves of her body I was just mad that you had to buy the toy of her to see her face.

The whole point of Miss Sarah Bellum (yaknow like CEREBELLUM, part of the brain) is that because of her attractive appearance, the bumbling mayor & most of Townsville are unable to take her seriously despite being the smartest character on the show. She accomplishes everything the mayor cannot while he soaks up the credit. Her face is even obscured to highlight the fact her intellect is only shown behind the scenes & not out-rightly because she's a woman. For God's sake, there are even several episodes where the girls can't defeat the villain without Miss Bellum (Rowdy-Ruff Boys, Sedusa, Femme Fatale, etc.) Her character existed as an important critique of society's view of women, particularly attractive women, & she served as a crucial female mentor for the girls. But sure, Powerpuff Girls reboot, pat yourselves on the back for doing women a favor by writing out a female character, especially such a good one. Dumbasses.
It's even weirder to think that they got her out of the show for her looks being consideret innapropriate but they still let the underaged girls twirk on an episode

Fun fact: Here in Latam, PPG 2016 was a monumental failure…and it lasted less time in Cartoon Network LA. The reboot was overshadowed by Miraculous Ladybug, a French animated TV series created by Thomas Astuc. The action scenes, the beautiful landscapes of Paris, the villains (including Hawk Moth and Mayura), and the well-done references to pop culture are way better than the PPG2016 (outdated memes like No Me Gusta and the Twerking scene).

As a 13 yr old I can agree with every single word you have said, I've seen the original before the reboot and I loved the original. When I started to watch the reboot I thought it would almost be the same IT ISN'T- I thought almost- no.. ALL OF THE VILLIANS IN THE REBOOT WERE LIKE NEIGHBORS TO THE POWERPUFFS- The original Lit something in me that was like "Hey little girls and women can kick ass too!" and I loved it for that reason. The reboot does the opposite- it shows that "Little girls and women SHOULDN'T kick ass, they should just go to school and behave themselves" and I hated it for that- They barely beat up the bad guys- they just sat there hand shaking them or something like that. You know what would’ve made it work? It’s if they replaced the mindless sadism the show was more character driven and story based and the powderpuff girls had more character and grew more as characters. Gave them arcs and actual motivation. That way it’s less edgy but still good. Don’t remove the violence, balance it out with morals and story

Christ. The powerpuff girls was the first time I saw girls being superheroes, actual story, NOT ABOUT FRIENDSHIPS. It became so inspiring to see characters who I could relate to kick grown men in the face without loosing their child-ness. To turn the powerpuff girls into girly stereotypes with one tomboy that - face it - is really unrealistic makes me sad. I want kids today to see Blossom being clever and outsmarting villains, not cheering about glitter. I want Bubbles proving you can be kind and strong at the same time, not babbling and being literally spoon fed. I want Buttercup being the badass, showing off raw muscle in a fight and playing rough, not rapping off key. I want to see the power and the puff. The girl cannot survive alone.
When I was a kid, a lot of people scoffed at the Powerpuff girls as a "girly" show due to its name/characters. The boys watched Dexter's Lab, girls watched Powerpuff Girls. I remember when I actually sat down and watched it for the first time, and I was actually blown away by how.... COOL it was. I still remember my little brother walking into the room one day, seeing me watching it and scoffing, "You're watching POWERPUFF GIRLS?" But then he actually watched it with me, and we both actually got into it.

Why write out Ms. Bellum at all? She was just a side character (expect for the episode "Something's a Ms." where she took a more major role. You can't take her natural curvy figure and write her out because of it. Ms. Bellum was also the Mayor's secretary and often times his source of happiness. Taking away a strong bond like that for a watered-down version of the show I and other 90s kids grew up with is sacrilege. Also, apparently Buttercup had the cowlick to add more "personality" to her character? She was a tomboy, that's enough of a personality. Plus, I don't see a lot of cartoons that put the female in the spotlight anymore. Sure, a number of them put females in a bigger role, but hardly ever the main focus. Rebooting a cartoon in my opinion is meant to wipe the slate clean for new adventures, but still keeping the heart and soul of the original intact. It's like handling a fragile object too roughly, it eventually breaks. Reboots to me should add fresh ideas, but keep the characters' personalities grounded. If you want to change something about a character, make it ever so minor that people won't notice.

When I was little I was growing up during when the golden age of cartoons was ending but my parents always shared their childhoods with me and a part of that was the cartoons, my personal favorite was always the power puff girls, I liked many things about it, the action, the blood, the strong female leads, the designs, everything! They’re a big part of my childhood to this day, when Hulu removed the original I was quickly looking for another streaming service
A real big problem with modern cartoons for kids is that its all so flavorless, Its just colors no story no meaning just colors, and the meaning that is put to it is bad, I will admit I haven't seen powerpuff girls in awhile but I from what I remember it's how siblings act, adults can sit through it (even if they don't want to), it gives kids a sense of creativity, adults put this on for their kids when they need a shower or nap, it teaches kids lessons that (in my odd opinion) should be learned from parents or life experience, there's ZERO creativity, and it gets boring from ages 6-8, please if you are a parent or going to become one, GIVE YOUR KIDS TASTE! It is not only in your best interest but your kids to, its something to be developed over time, show you kids good movies and shows that you used to like, and when they get to the age of being able to watch horror that's when the fun starts, trust me on this it'll be better for them in the long run if you sit them down to watch a movie.

Overall all of them fight well and them being little girls never takes away from their strength, which is rare in a show. Craig McCracken gave little girls relatable superheroes they can look up too.

Violence has always been around in children’s literature. It could be psychological if not physical violence. From the days of the Brothers Grimm to Harry Potter. To remove any trace of problems in an attempt to shield children, assumes that children are too dumb to figure inherent things for themselves.
I still remember that episode of Tom and Jerry with the drowned kittens in a bag. And the way St. Peter tuts at this and said, "What some people won't do."
Some kids are too stupid, who I assume are the ones these censorious nannies are attempting to protect. But that just does a disservice to both the art and the rest of the audience who _aren't_ stupid. It shifts responsibility away from parents, who are the ones that should be picking up any slack in these matters. If your child is too stupid to separate violence in entertainment from violence in real life, then it's your responsibility as a parent to, you know, parent your child.

There was certainly cartoonish violence, but tom and jerry were a lot friendlier towards each other in the original seasons than they were in the reboot. Ms Bellum was one of the best characters on the show. As a kid, never occurred to me that she was supposed to be eye candy for the parents stuck watching the show. What made this show special was it was for both boys and girls. It’s the girliest boys’ show so it has something for everyone. It was so creative and fun. Something that every show made now lacks. They’re soulless cash grabs and that’s all they are.
And that’s because she WASNT! Craig said she was more of an in-office in-joke commentary on feminism & how women in office are oversexualized despite being the brains of the government. Craig said she was based off Monica Lewinsky and they oversexualized her so heavily because they knew people wouldn’t focus on the best part of her, her brain. That was the one thing I didn't really agree with. I mean yeah cartoon characters have distinct voices but there's plenty of people who can get like 90% there to replicating it. Voice actors certainly aren't irreplaceable, but many shows do fumble the bag when trying to find new voices.

The whole point of Miss Sarah Bellum (yaknow like CEREBELLUM, part of the brain) is that because of her attractive appearance, the bumbling mayor & most of Townsville are unable to take her seriously despite being the smartest character on the show. She accomplishes everything the mayor cannot while he soaks up the credit. Her face is even obscured to highlight the fact her intellect is only shown behind the scenes & not out-rightly because she's a woman. For God's sake, there are even several episodes where the girls can't defeat the villain without Miss Bellum (Rowdy-Ruff Boys, Sedusa, Femme Fatale, etc.)
Her character existed as an important critique of society's view of women, particularly attractive women, & she served as a crucial female mentor for the girls.
But sure, Powerpuff Girls reboot, pat yourselves on the back for doing women a favor by writing out a female character, especially such a good one. Dumbasses.

Ms Bellum was one of my favorite characters, easily top 5. She was a role model to the girls and, to an extend, the closest to a mother figure.

Fun fact: Here in Latam, PPG 2016 was a monumental failure…and it lasted less time in Cartoon Network LA. The reboot was overshadowed by Miraculous Ladybug, a French animated TV series created by Thomas Astuc. The action scenes, the beautiful landscapes of Paris, the villains (including Hawk Moth and Mayura), and the well-done references to pop culture are way better than the PPG2016 (outdated memes like No Me Gusta and the Twerking scene).
Funny thing is that Unlike PPG 2016, PPGZ Was a Success in Latam that in his Original Country 😂

As a 13 yr old I can agree with every single word you have said, I've seen the original before the reboot and I loved the original. When I started to watch the reboot I thought it would almost be the same IT ISN'T- I thought almost- no.. ALL OF THE VILLIANS IN THE REBOOT WERE LIKE NEIGHBORS TO THE POWERPUFFS- The original Lit something in me that was like "Hey little girls and women can kick ass too!" and I loved it for that reason. The reboot does the opposite- it shows that "Little girls and women SHOULDN'T kick ass, they should just go to school and behave themselves" and I hated it for that- They barely beat up the bad guys- they just sat there hand shaking them or something like that. Conclusion: The new powerpuff girls... SUCKS! [apologies for this being pretty long, I have shit to rant about-]

Cartoon characters ARE their voices. Anyone who has watched any Batman animation which doesn’t include Mark Hamill or Kevin Conroy can tell you this. No matter how interesting or well acted that various substitutes are, that’s all they’ll ever be: SUBSTITUTES.

It’s if they replaced the mindless sadism the show was more character driven and story based and the powderpuff girls had more character and grew more as characters. Gave them arcs and actual motivation. That way it’s less edgy but still good.

I have only seen clips from the reboot and I never intend to put myself through watching a full episode. I feel such sorrow for true fans that actually thought this would be anything like the original

Christ. The powerpuff girls was the first time I saw girls being superheroes, actual story, NOT ABOUT FRIENDSHIPS. It became so inspiring to see characters who I could relate to kick grown men in the face without loosing their child-ness. To turn the powerpuff girls into girly stereotypes with one tomboy that - face it - is really unrealistic makes me sad. I want kids today to see Blossom being clever and outsmarting villains, not cheering about glitter. I want Bubbles proving you can be kind and strong at the same time, not babbling and being literally spoon fed. I want Buttercup being the badass, showing off raw muscle in a fight and playing rough, not rapping off key. I want to see the power and the puff. The girl cannot survive alone.
When I was a kid, a lot of people scoffed at the Powerpuff girls as a "girly" show due to its name/characters. The boys watched Dexter's Lab, girls watched Powerpuff Girls. I remember when I actually sat down and watched it for the first time, and I was actually blown away by how.... COOL it was.
I still remember my little brother walking into the room one day, seeing me watching it and scoffing, "You're watching POWERPUFF GIRLS?" But then he actually watched it with me, and we both actually got into it.

Why write out Ms. Bellum at all? She was just a side character (expect for the episode "Something's a Ms." where she took a more major role.
You can't take her natural curvy figure and write her out because of it. Ms. Bellum was also the Mayor's secretary and often times his source of happiness. Taking away a strong bond like that for a watered-down version of the show I and other 90s kids grew up with is sacrilege. Also, apparently Buttercup had the cowlick to add more "personality" to her character? She was a tomboy, that's enough of a personality.
Plus, I don't see a lot of cartoons that put the female in the spotlight anymore. Sure, a number of them put females in a bigger role, but hardly ever the main focus. Rebooting a cartoon in my opinion is meant to wipe the slate clean for new adventures, but still keeping the heart and soul of the original intact. It's like handling a fragile object too roughly, it eventually breaks. Reboots to me should add fresh ideas, but keep the characters' personalities grounded. If you want to change something about a character, make it ever so minor that people won't notice.
Power Puff Girls managed to deceive our parents from the cuteness to allow us keep watching this violent show. And I love it

i mean feel the sam rami Spiderman movie movies would not the same emotional tension, if we didn't see the characters real life, thing is that peter parker every day life is actually interesting and interweaves with his superhero life, the problem with the ppg reboot is their life is emotional bland and could be cut without losing anything, yet they 70% of their time on it.

When I was little I was growing up during when the golden age of cartoons was ending but my parents always shared their childhoods with me and a part of that was the cartoons, my personal favorite was always the power puff girls, I liked many things about it, the action, the blood, the strong female leads, the designs, everything! They’re a big part of my childhood to this day, when Hulu removed the original I was quickly looking for another streaming service
A real big problem with modern cartoons for kids is that its all so flavorless,
Its just colors no story no meaning just colors, and the meaning that is put to it is bad, I will admit I haven't seen powerpuff girls in awhile but I from what I remember it's how siblings act, adults can sit through it (even if they don't want to), it gives kids a sense of creativity, adults put this on for their kids when they need a shower or nap, it teaches kids lessons that (in my odd opinion) should be learned from parents or life experience, there's ZERO creativity, and it gets boring from ages 6-8, please if you are a parent or going to become one, GIVE YOUR KIDS TASTE! It is not only in your best interest but your kids to, its something to be developed over time, show you kids good movies and shows that you used to like, and when they get to the age of being able to watch horror that's when the fun starts, trust me on this it'll be better for them in the long run if you sit them down to watch a movie.
