The laugh I got from the last part of this was the best laugh of my life, and I hardly laughed...the best kind...that's how you know this is comedy gold
I probably don't need to say this, but here it goes: I happen to have a fanfic that has Mike fighting with a lightsabre. There's a fanfic (that isn't mine) that has John fighting with a sword. At first I thought by some strange happening, Tony must've gotten that idea for this fight scene. BUT I thought to myself, 'Well, it was the era of Star Wars ...' But this was my favorite bit of HFC, the petition scene came close, but it's at 2nd place. It's just epic all around!
It wasn't that great-- instead of concentrating on the subject, the writers/director threw in too much surrealism and "hey, look how much we can write like Python" self-indulgent commentary. They should have taken a cue from the FROST/NIXON film. The impersonations of the various members of Python were spot-on, though. Much better to watch the actual debate.
"Bloody BBC should have had stuntmen for this" not only my favorite line, but also it sounds just like Cleese
