Today I visit the gravesites of some of the cast members from THE WALTON'S classic 1970s TV show, and others who are buried here in the Southern California area. The series was created by writer Earl Hamner Jr., who is buried in the Hamner Family Cemetery in Schuyler, Virginia.
    Gravesite tours include:
Will Geer (Grandpa Zeb), Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum Cremation Memorial Garden, Topanga Canyon, California
Ellen Corby (Grandma Esther), Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California
Helen Kleeb (Miss Maimie Baldwin), Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City, California
Lewis Arquette (JD Pickett), Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, California
John Ritter (Rev. Matthew Fordwick), Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, California
Jerry Goldsmith (Composer-Theme Song), Hillside Cemetery, Culver City, California
Buried out of the area or out of state:
Peggy Rea (Rose Burton), Santa Barbara Cemetery, Santa Barbara, California
Ralph Waite (John Walton Sr.), White Plains Rural Cemetery, White Plains, New York
Mary Jackson (Miss Emily Baldwin), Oak Grove Cemetery, Milford, Michigan
Cremated with no final resting place to visit:
    Joe Conely (Ike Godsey)
Ronnie Claire Edwards (Corabeth Walton Godsey)
    Cast members still living:
Michael Learned (Olivia), Richard Thomas (John Boy), John Walmsley (Jason), Judy Norton Taylor (Mary Ellen), Mary Elizabeth McDonough (Erin), Eric Scott (Ben), David W. Harper (Jim Bob).
Some of the other cast members are still alive, while others have been cremated and have no final resting place. Surprisingly, quite a few of them have gravesites that are unknown.
Thanks for joining me on another nostalgic road trip down memory lane to the cemetery.

@Timothy Duffy But those were also times when people lost their homes because of lack of jobs. My great Uncle lost his lsrge beautiful home because he didn't have $9 for property tax My grandfather and his brothers lost their source of income which was owning carnival rides to take to fairs when lighning hit their storage warehouse and destroyed everything and they had no insurance. My grandmother had to ring the necks of their chickens to feed the family. Everyone had an assigned piece and she always took the back. She skipped eating so the children could. She lived to 102 and her family was her world, but I can't say she was happy. They almost lost their house. My mom said they wouldn't have survived without FDRs New Deal. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. But it can also break your back. Yes, they had good family values and they were God fearing people but memories of growing up were full of sadness and resentment. It affected the rest of my mother's life. She died in 2008. My generation had happy memories and benefited from all the work done by my parents and grandparents. Being a kid in the 50s and middle 60s was a happy time.

@Timothy Duffy It was my Grandmother keeping everyone together. I was going back to the 29s, 30s, 40s, and I was born in the 50s. The Walton's took up in the 30s and went post WWII. The 30s were terrible for my Grandparents and all their siblings. In the 40s my Grandmother had to worry about her boys in the war and my mother had to take care of her house while my dad was in the war. He had three brothers gone as well. Mary Ellen's husband died at Pearl Harbor. The Waltons didn't live on Main St. They lived in the mountains. I actually lived on Main Street if the street signs had been up but most of the town disappeared during the Depression and as a result of a giant fire. Today it has one post office and no businesses. Whereas my grandparents and mothet had relatives all over town, I was the last of all relatives to graduate the high school in my hometown in 1971. No family members live there anymore. I go there to visit them in family row at the cemetery and still have a few friends in the area. It was a thriving town in the early 1900s.

@Timothy Duffy Say it isn't so. I'm too young (what a laugh) for Mccarthyism, but I remember everything else. First time I saw John Ritter was on the Waltons. What a shocker when he starred in Three's Company. I'm sure both my dad's family and mom's family were Democrat but changed before I came along. Being raised in Illinois, the Land of Political Corruption, may have been what encouraged me to learn about politics. I cried when Goldwater lost. I cried through Kenedy's funeral. I have a t-shirt that says "Illinois, Where Our Governors Make Our License Plates". And of course the motto is Vote early, vote often". But especially Everett Dirksen who said "When the head nods in Chicago, the tail wags in Springfield". So I got a B.S. in Political Science and took a job with the Air Force teaching Airmen to statistically analyze aircraft maintenance. For 32 years I could have no involvement in political elections. But I have a good pension with no social security to worry about. Just grandsons to raise. Had to move to Texas but finally learned to like it, even its politics. Just haven't got a gun yet.

Hey steve! It's Jimmy once again and I must thank you for this one! Seems like as a child of the 1970s,I grew up right along with the Walton kids. My mom being from wythville,va. Grew up in the same manner so I would guess that's why we watch the show even today in re-runs! I even have the theme music on my phone for her when she calls me! 👍👍👍

Hi ya Steve, who don't remember the Walton's. Sad some gave this thumbs down. How dare they.they gave us warm feeling inside. Even if you was child. Remember them doing the Walton's home for Christmas.every year when the children had grown up married had children of their own, who didn't cry when grandpa died on show, we loved grandma and grandpa Walton. Loved all of them. I enjoyed the rest of the blog and the other people you spoke of. Take care. I have saved this, but I save all of them to reach watch later. Afa, neita.

@@TheGraveyardChannel I look at it this way we are all here for a little while. Try have fun and enjoy life, but most of all do what you love. Death is nothing to fear I see it all the time. Only a few are afraid. I'm not.I enjoy seeing the different head stones. There's nothing ugly about death.some say its morbid to say some cemeteries are beautiful. But I don't.anybody would want be in place where their family, friends and loved ones would want visit. I don't want my ashes kept in somebody's home..I'd rather be placed in urn at my fathers feet.I'd like think when my time comes I'll be ready. Take care, aga neita,

I loved the Walton's too! I only live about 75 miles from the Hamner home ( Walton's Mountains) I love to go to their house and sit on the front porch, the real home isn't as large as the one on the show, it is now open to the public as a museum, and so are the junior and High school that the kids attended. Its beautiful up there in the summer. I'm a new subscriber, I really enjoyed your video, it was great, long live the wonderful cast of The Walton's, 😊🌺🌻

I attended a play that my friend Will was in back in 1975. Will owned a house in his home town in Frankfort Indiana across the street from us. He would come back often and site on the porch. So many memories chatting with him
