I'm not all caught up on the lore, so I was really confused by the red eyes. All I knew was that Freddy's eyes glow in the dark, so I liked the shot where they did. Good point about the purple light! I just think Scott must have had a reason to make them look that way.
"Run," he panted, and the three of them took off down the hall. They turned a corner, and they stopped, Jason skidding against Lamar and grabbing him for support. At the end of the dark hall stood another figure, too large to be a person. The top hat was unmistakable. Freddy Fazbear. His eyes were illuminated, their red glow consuming the space around him. They could hear the brittle notes of a song, mechanical and thin like a music box, coming from Freddy's direction. They stared, mesmerised.

This wouldn’t be the case if they made the whole eyes black and then made the pupil red instead of the entire eye red.
The iconic white pupil would also work but it would be more of a “the animatronic is possessed” vibe and I do think the red eyes are the animatronics being controlled.
Bro they have a really small budget and the animatronics are real life animatronics so they can't make black and white with animatronics so be grateful because we have been waiting 8 years for the movie to release

I will explain this:
In the fnaf book the silver eye William afton is controlling the animatronics wich cause his eyes to turn red but when the missing children take over the eyes turn black and withe
I think the red eyes look okay. And I understand why they had to go this route.

@@justinbath2362 They kinda are though. Eyes can convey so much so if you screw it up then the vibe you get from a certain character can completely change. In this case, they look stoned which is kinda funny I can't lie but that's bad because I won't be able to take them seriously whereas the white dots are scarier, creepier, more unique and convey something more paranormal rather than the red eyes which imply the cliché evil or that's it's malfunctioning and not only that but it would pay homage to the games if they made them have white eyes.
@mergimvllasa7577 I understand what you mean and I agree. But I hate that people want to hate on something by one small detail. The eyes in my opinion are ok personally I would have liked red/ white dots or the red eyes from help wanted , but in the end I am just happy we are getting this movie. 😊

I’m not much of a FNAF person and the lore/accuracy isn’t the most important thing to me, but I find the white eyes to be much much more unsettling. I think it’s simply a better choice for a horror movie.
Edit: I’ve seen people edit on the red eyes in the same style as the white ones. So if it’s necessary for the story, I think they should go with that imo.
It’s not it’s bad theory that doesn’t hold up probably the reason it’s that it’s pg 13 for the young ones and the original eyes spooky too scary
That's actually a really good theory we still could very much get the white eyes if afton stopped controlling them and they started to free roam

The white eyes mean they are normal, the black eyes mean they are possessed by the children, and the red eyes mean William is manipulating them or possibly an agony effect.
The animatronics are also actually real, not cgi so it would be hard to make all the animatronics eyes white

They simply don't have red eyes, they are designed to be endearing to children.

In the leaked trailer we got we see golden freddy, and he only has one eye but its black with blue dot in the middle. So it's very likely that the animatronics are controlled by William Afton, and golden freddy is being possessed by a kid.

We also see a animatronic who is supposedly springtrap and he has the white and black eyes.
I want to see how long these new fnaf fans realize that there's no cgi and that the animatronics are real made by the jim Henson creature shop, and scott is the producer,grow the fuck up be happy we have a movie that we've been waiting for since 2015

WHY THE RED EYES ARE GOOD!
1: The red eyes are canon in not only the games but in the silver eyes books.
2: When they have white pupils there’s actually no eyes inside the animatronics the spirits are lighting it up so if they were like that for one night in the morning they would have no eyes and people would be like wtf?
3: When they’re red it means they’re in attack mode and when they’re white pupils it means the souls are controlling them so they won’t be red the whole movie.
And finally
4: They look good grow up.
1. The red eyes featured in games are a different style. Yes, they are the same color, but they are presented in another way. The help wanted animatronics had no iris shown giving it a blank stare. Also the eyebrows didnt move like in the movie so there was no expression. A large part of the horror element of the fnaf games is how the animatronics look so unnerving.
2. the white eyes are always in the animatronics and shining. Its just when they move into the shadows the sclera is invisible and you can only see the white light in the pupil. You can see this in an image of toy freddy where one half of the eye is in the shadows yet the pupil is still bright.
3. The animatronics are always in attack mode in the game. A part of the horror is how you cant tell their intentions or motivations. Red eyes with angry eyebrows make it more clear that the robots are in "attack mode" or are "angry", but dont you think that is cliche and overdone by now? The white pupils were a nice refresher and emphasized the uneasy atmosphere that the games were trying to convey. Also, the white pupils somewhat stared into your soul when you looked at them, but the red eyes and angry eyebrows is just "aah we are angry at you we are evil arrg". during the teaser, when we look at bonnie during the ball pit scene he looks way better than freddy just because of his lack of eyebrows. However, they made both eyelids closed slightly which just looks weird. lowerign the top eyelid like foxy would look considerably better (given we are keeping the red eyes from the movie, im not sure how it would be with the white eyes.)
4. They look like if you put a red light in a cheap plastic jack-o-lantern from the dollar store. And the point is that blumhouse already had an eye design (white pupil) before this, yet intentionally took it away for something lesser.
Also, most fnaf fan games incorporate the white pupils since they are such an iconic part of the games. I would be fine if the characters were redesigned to look more like old 1980's animatronics such as from chuck e cheeses or showbiz, (look at the fangame five nights at jr's for reference) as long as they at least got the asthetic correct of dark, hidden, and unease through blank expressions, dark sets, and possibly the white pupils. they could have even kept the lit-up pupil from the original games and just made it a red pupil instead of a white pupil. Personally i think its just poor execution. also sorry for all of the writing it was just a lot of points to cover.

@@1SillyMimi1 disagree fully. dont call me pal either. The red eyes are executed poorly and fail to fit with the aesthetics of the first game. Scott can make mistakes too such as scraptrap. The red eyes look cheap and cliche. The white eyes are iconic

Hear me out. William afton should be dead if we look at game lore perspective, fnaf 2, william dies because of springlock failure, then there is fnaf 1 which this film takes place i think. . im not really sure if this movie will be the same as games. but the fact that william is "dead" and literally baricaded inside fnaf 2 location unable to escape makes me overthink it way too much. how the heck is he able to control them, also why is william alive in trailer... there is so much to ask. but if hes gonna be alive, then the red eyes have meaning, but if hes gonna be dead like in lore. then that wouldnt make sense
Well William Afton dies in the fnaf 1 location after he destroyed the fnaf 1 gang, so he will most likely get springlocked in the end of the movie

@@tedoprobg now i undertsand. the fnaf 2 location was closed but was still accesable by burglars. so that means afton died somewhere near 1993-1994 theories speculate that fnaf 1 location started around 1993. soo that would make sense afton was alive in fnaf one and after fnaf 1 closes. then he takes each one of the animatronics... but people are not sure if he died in fnaf 1 location or fnaf 2 location.

I don’t think they’ve got time to do that. They’re not using CGI and the red eyes are clearly built-in LEDs.
I think it is a good theory but the only problem with this is that the only way William can control people is by Glitchtrap and this movie takes places at the first game, meaning William it’s still alive meaning there’s no Glitchtrap meaning he’s not controlling them.

In my opinion, the red eyes are better. Just imagine a scene in your head with one of those animatronics. Would you be spooked by some white dots or not care? The red eyes are really intimidating. Plus as one guy once said, these are non-cgi robots. You can’t change it, because you would have to spend even more money. But good point

Unfortunately I think this movie will be made for children, just like security breache. They don't think about fans, they think about money, and children are easy money. They won't make a good movie, nor a scary one, they will make the animatronics goofy with red eyes, angry expressions, just to don't scary children. That's the only reason I see to use red eyes with angry expressions instead of possessed black eyes with white dots and dead expressions. "Don't make them scary, make them goofy so children want to buy them".

The game's history is now a shit and the film will be only attractive to kids. Wake up, the poster teaser is bright as fuck, just like SB, it's completely opposite to the fnaf 2's menu screen for example. They always make bad, not scary and childish stuff and instead of correcting them you will keep giving them money and support, so they will keep producing shit. The ghost kids don't even look like ghosts, just stupid kids running. They want children, not fans, the true fans were children 10 years ago, and now want a good horror movie, but they don't care to us, they want a brand new mass of kids that love Garten of banban and every shit they see
