The big thing I love about Mandalorian is you can tell what heâs thinking without having to see his face.
I guess in reality that would be a big disadvantage.đ But I don't think in his universe, people could do shit knowing what he thinks, anyway.
@@kalakritistudios I think its easier for us because we have some idea of his personality, motivations, etc, but its more of mystery to the beings and people he encounters,
nice observation!
Like Vader
@@kalakritistudios Well in reality we don't see and follow people recorded like a movie in a particular line of events for a long time . That's actually what makes us project what he's thinking, the circumstances he finds himself in and that we follow him, not really getting it from the helmet and body language alone.
But in real life if you meet him, you wouldn't be able to tell what he's thinking , assuming you don't know anything about him and you meet him for the first time, in a context you cannot infer anything from.
Cassie! You didnât notice the man that gave Mando the job at the beginning in the bar, was none other than Carl Weathers! The great actor who played Apollo Creed himself! đ„ Heâs now also directing episodes for The Mandalorian. âïž
I was going to mention that because of the Apollo Creed poster RIGHT BEHIND HER, but I'm glad someone noticed. đ
He was also in the first Predator movie
Also Dylan in "Predator".
Action Jackson! You have to put that on your watch list.
Don't forget that S.O.B Dillon.
One thing that The Mandalorian gets right is that it establishes that Mando is extremely capable, but he also gets his ass kicked a lot. You never get the feeling that he is invincible or unbeatable, even though he is wearing blaster proof armor.
Exactly. Something far too many tv shows and films fail at lately.
He got shot by the droid in the pauldron. The only part of his armor that was blaster proof.
@@edenarchive4150 All we know is that the mudhorn damages his armor, and then has a new suit made. We don't know that his original armor wasn't blaster proof. Just that it wasn't mudhorn proof.
reminds me of Daredevil. which is probably a reason why both Mando and DD are my favourite shows of all time.
eh until they drop that in season 2 for the most part and every action scene becomes him running down hallways just taking out scores of storm troopers :(
"This felt like Star Wars". Yep. This show got me back into the Star Wars universe after some disappointing movies. I even went and watched some of the Clone Wars and Rebels cartoons that I had no intention of ever watching. This show is the best thing Star Wars has put out since Return of The Jedi.
Yeah, a friend of mine were talking about this a few weeks ago. I had given up on Star Wars until the first episode of The Mandalorian, even though I really liked Rogue One. I was drawn in right from the start of Ep 1 of The Mandalorian.
Wich makes sense because it's right after Return of The Jedi in the SW timeline lol
Thank goodness for Jon Favreau
not watching Clone Wars or Rebels is a huge disservice to any Star Wars fan
Rebels was actually pretty good I used to hate on the animation style until I watched it but yea it was good
05:45 Cassie, The Client is played by Werner Herzog, an acclaimed German director, writer, and actor. He was also in the first Jack Reacher film with Tom Cruise. He was very interested in the cutting edge filming techniques Jon Favreau and company was using to shoot The Mandolorian, so he agreed to join the cast.
Also, like any human being with a heartbeat, he instantly fell in love with the Baby Yoda puppet - which is a delightful thought when you think about how serious and scary Herzog comes across, and this is coming from another German. The man is intense, and it lead possibly to my favorite behind the scenes fact in the entire SW franchise. When Favreau and Feloni wanted to take the puppet from set to do another take without it, in case they wanted to use a CGI version, Herzog just told them "You are cowards. Leave it." And that was it.
@@DerMoerpler He was talking to Baby Yoda as if it was not a puppet. And to be true, it's not just a puppet. The original, the character behind it, the hearts and minds of millions infront of it. Almost, the new face of STAR WARS. Very cute.
And in Japanese culture, he would have a soul.
He's also one of the few people who could somewhat half-control Klaus Kinski, a notoriously.....erratic actor.
@@KthulhuXxx I think that's a big part of his intimidating aura. After five movies with Kinski, almost nothing fazes him anymore. He is unshakeable to the point that he treats getting shot with a BB gun while being interviewed on camera like other would an insect bite.
@@KthulhuXxx Herzog and Kinski had one of, if not THE worst director/actor relationship in the history of cinema, to the point where Herzog threatened to kill Kinski, and yet together they produced some of the greatest movies ever made. Truly a story that belongs in the books
The Mandolorian is one of my favorite things SW has put out in a long time. You're going to love this!
it wasnt SW....was the great Jon Favreau
@@eduardoandres5989Iâm glad he didnât quit
Youâve started what is EASILY the best live-action Star Wars TV show, IMO.
It's the best live action Star Wars since 2005.
Rogue one was also quite good
And Solo (unpopular opinion)
@@joshwilliams2400 Yeah, those are movies. But I like Solo too, yeah.
@@joshwilliams2400 also a fan of Solo
Cassie, FYI, this series begins five years after the Empire fell in Return Of The Jedi.
Mando is played by Pedro Pascal, a great actor. I love his voice too!
My husband and I LOVED watching this series. I think he enjoyed it the most because he'd be watching me every time "Baby Yoda" was on screen I'd have a silent full body cuteness freak out. đ€Łâ€đ
This was such a great series, loved it from the first episode.
Me too!!
The best part of this show (for all of us that watched it when it first came out) was we had NO IDEA baby Yoda was going to be in it. So, the end of the first episode had everyone going crazy. Disney kept it such a secret that there was no baby Yoda merchandise for a good long while (because producing the merchandise would have likely leaked the show's big secret). The Mandalorian is easily my favorite Star Wars thing since Return of the Jedi... though I did like Rogue One and Solo quite a bit.
You can blame us in the UK and Europe for no merch, we didn't get Disney+ until the following April. I managed to somehow avoid spoilers!
Well, it's not really Yoda...just people refer to it as Baby Yoda. Same species, different person. Yoda is not a species either, just a name.
Well Yoda was like 900 years old when he died when Luke found him so their species really ages differently than humans. It's 50 and it is still a small child.
This makes no sense, but then, I'm not a writer for The Mandolorian.
So happy you're watching this Cassie! The voice actor is Pedro Pascal btw. There are actually a TON of Easter eggs and larger Star Wars cannon nods in this show. For those of us who have been deep in the universe for many years, this show was fantastic for reasons beyond it just being an amazing show. I could go on and on!
Well done for spoiling the surprise for her when he finally takes his helmet off. đ€
Now you see why you were seeing so many "Baby Yoda" dolls around. Everybody fell in love with it and why people tuned in...come for the Mandalorian - stay for Baby Yoda
Yeh, then they waited a year to release Grogu's merch. I have 3, LOL :)
It worked marketing-wise. But not so much with Boba Fett and Obi-Wan...no "aww" characters there...nor story as much
@@jeffwerth2707 IMHO Obiwan was a waste. I did watch the re-edit of 6 episodes into a 2hr movie and it was way better then the series.
Seems that Disney is just creating content - lets try this and see if the people like it...would Mandalorian be as good WITHOUT "baby yoda" to draw folks in?
@@jeffwerth2707 Not sure, Grogu and Mando are a team, like Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, Mac and Cheese...They are a great combo together, let's just hope they don't go woke, and they keep Favreau and Filoni at the helm. Mando and Grogu had to come and save Bobba's dismal series too. I just wish they'd rewrite and go back to cannon with the books and make 7,8,9 a dream sequence, LOL :)
Cassie, you said something many fans have said in the past. "This felt like Star Wars". Other Disney productions really doesn't feel like Star Wars, they are other space generic stuff with the star wars label on it sadly. Looking at your reaction to the first 2 episodes you are going to love these 2 seasons. Enjoy! This is the way
Giant eye roll
@@chand911 I get it's not an opinion some people like to hear, but it's not exactly an uncommon opinion. For myself, I said the same thing "This felt like Star Wars." Which is not something I could say about anything but the original trilogy and the Rebels cartoon. And, to an extent, The Force Awakens, inasmuch as it was a well-executed rehash of the original trilogy.
@@chand911 Roll them back
Legit Star Wars
The Disney productions didn't just have a Star Wars label. The blasters sounded like blasters. The light sabers sounded like light sabers. Tatooine looked like tatooine. The score was on point. They were generic Hollywood action movies wearing a Star Wars skin suit, Ed Gein style.
If you haven't heard already, John Favreau based the Mandolorian on movies he watched as a kid. He was mostly inspired by The Man with No Name series (Clint Eastwood). As usual, I enjoyed your reaction and look forward to more.
...... I did not know this, no wonder mando always reminded me a bit of Clint Eastwood in his western films.
@@mikeyc2110 the voice as well!
@@harrybuedel2112 he does it so well... makes me want to go watch said westerns
Explains why The Mandalorian feels like a spaghetti Western.
Itâs another of Yodaâs species
Mandalorian is a people, a culture, one of warriors. They have been long known
The _First Order_ is gone after IX
Beskar is mandalorian steel
Foundlings are child mandalorians
If the Child is 50 years old, then he wouldâve been born around the same time as Anakin
Yoda died at 900. He said he trained jedi for 800. So the Childâs due for a growth spurt in his next 50 years. Unless Yoda was an early bloomer
âAnother gremlin thingyâ âŠa frog?
This is the Way.
also Kuiil is an Ugnaught, who were introduced in Empire strikes back in Cloud City.
I think it is incorrect to assume he is a baby. He doesn't act like a baby at all. Yeah, he is tiny, but so is Yoda. I believe he is more equivalent to an 8-10 year old child. Meaning at the age of 100 he could be equivalent to a 20+ year old human.
yes pls post spoilers after she uploaded the first 2 episodes like wtf?
why would u spoil that for her
The Imperial Officer who hired the Mandalorian (the one with the "villain voice") was played by Werner Herzog. He's an independent film-maker with a long filmography.
And, long known for his boundless evil.
@@jean-paulaudette9246 Oh, yes. Herzog is Pillar of Darkness. He's been casting inky blackness into the hearts of mankind for decades.
He was the one who told Filoni and Faveraeu to use the puppet for baby yoda instead of CGI. I think his words were, "don't be a coward! use the puppet."
@@placebo5466 Just like we liked the puppet for Yoda, we enjoy the puppet for baby yoda.
And he has an awesome voice. His movie Grizzly Man I think is one of the best documentary movies of all time.
Whats great with the Mandalorian is that it feels like an Old School Star Wars.
Like it was a Mix between a Western and a Samurai movie, wich where Star Wars inspirations actually.
Its Gritty and Dirty, with Bad Ass moments.
People always say "western" and "samurai" as influences, and that's true. But I think there is a more suitable comparison. Mando is a knight errant.
Star Wars isn't a science fiction. It's science fantasy. In addition to space ships and lasers, you have princesses and magic. Luke Skywalker is a classic character type, being the inexperienced everyman that goes on a journey and defeats the big evil. Mando is a different character type, but because his character type is equally classic, it feels right at home in the universe. Mando travels, lives by a code, and is a perpetual underdog. This is the same character type that many western and samurai stories use. The difference being that Mando also wears heavy armor, and often fights monsters and machines that are many times larger than he is. Hell, there's a dragon in season 2. Ironic as it is, Jedi Knights fill more of a wizard role in the universe. Mando is the real knight of the setting. He fits right into the tone of the world without feeling like a rehash of things that have come before.
@@DrLipkin youâre right that Star Wars is a space fantasy: and in that regard, The Mandalorian (or the Memberberrian, as I call it) fails.
George Lucasâ Star Wars were proper myths that passed down timeless moral values. Disneyâs Star Wars are postmodernist drivel that reinforce the cultural zeitgeist of the next generation knowing it all (Reyâs entire character line: itâs not an arc, just a straight line), women power (Rey, Holdo, Jyn Erso, Fennic Shand, Ahsoka, Bo-Katanâs Mandalorian gal pal) and especially moral relativism.
The Memberberrian does that last one particularly, as does Rogue One: which is why I roll my eyes whenever someone says that this is âreal Star Wars.â Itâs not: itâs just reinforcing the same bs relativistic propaganda yâall have been spoonfed and brainwashed into believing is âdeepâ and ânuancedâ since childhood. If OG Star Wars was like The Memberberrian, Luke would have become Darth Vader, the Empire would unironically be portrayed as the good guys (even after blowing up Alderaan and almost blowing up Endor, with their own people on it, no less!), and Leia would have been the Chosen One.
@@OneTrueVikingbard Chill out. All I said was that Mando wears armor and fights monsters like a knight in a fantasy story would.
2:45 Thatâs Pedro Pascal for you!
Fun fact, the mud horn (the creature in episode 2) is based on an extinct species of rhino called Elasmotherium. They really got that big and were probably about as friendly.
She is gonna LOVE this !!! I've been waiting for her to watch this !!! Best wishes everyone !!!
Star Wars is at its best when it is "Old West" meets "Far East" in a SF setting, which The Mandalorian does magnificently.
Yep. A classic combination of Kurosawa films like Seven Samurai and Sergio Leone's\Clint Eastwood's man with no name films.
Iâm glad youâre starting on this journey to watch The Mandolorian, itâs one of my favorite shows of all time and my most favorite show in the Star Wars universe
Mando having to tell the bounty droid not to self destruct over and over always cracks me up
When you said âthat feels like Star Wars,â I could totally relate! YES. That is why The Mandalorian is so amazing! I absolutely love this show and cannot wait for the next season (itâs overdue). I am so glad to have you join in and canât wait to watch more of your reviews. Baby Yoda is so much the yin to Mandoâs yang. Itâs the best.
The Mandalorian made me fall in love with Star Wars all over again.
Jawaâs kind of remind me of the Minions from Gru, almost always getting into trouble and mischief. Occasionally finding targets of opportunity and yet they stay together like family.
Cassie, I'm sure someone already mentioned it, we originally met the Mandalorians in the Clone Wars animated series. I had never watched them when I started watching this show. I didn't watch them until early in Season 2 of the Mandalorian because there is stuff in Clone Wars and Rebels (the successor animated series) which would be important to know for Season 2. So, I binged watched them, and was so glad that I did. You don't have to watch them on your channel, but you'd benefit by seeing them before you get to Season 2. I'm an OG Star Wars guy. Saw it in the theater back in 77, and I've seen all the movies since. I was never interested in any of the other stuff. Cartoons, comics. Not really my thing. I tried watching the first couple episodes of Clone Wars, but I just couldn't get into it. It takes almost the full first season to become invested. But, I'm very glad that I did. One of my very favorite Star Wars characters grows up in the show, and as a viewer and a fan, I'd say I was well rewarded for the investment of time. Especially when you get to the middle of Season 2. Thank you for your reactions. They're always delightful.
I first encountered Mandalorians in the Knights of the Old Republic comics... ... in the early '90s, I think? And then again in the KotOR video game in 2003. I was immediately obsessed and the Clone Wars version (pacifists) made me hate the show for aaaages. (I had to get over my saltiness to rewatch the entire CW series and fall properly in love with it. XD)
I wish I could go back in time and experience the reveal of the child unspoiled. I didnât have access to Disney+ right away, nor did I have access to it until a few months after it had debuted. As a result, I saw all the pictures of the child that friends, relatives, and others on the internet shared long before I actually saw this show. I imagine that it would have been a most memorable experience watching the first episode of this, not knowing about the child.
why?
Meh, the reveal wasnât a big deal. Well, for my part, anyway đ«€
It was pretty amazing, yes.
Indeed it was memorable. Seeing those green, pointy ears popping out of that pod for the first time was DA SHIT.
Watch a handful of other reactions from the original release 2 years ago. The surprise and amazement is palpable.
I almost gave up on Star Wars after the disastrous sequel trilogy. This amazing show brought me back. Enjoy watching it for the first time.
TIMELINE:
Mandalorian takes place in 9 ABY which is 9 years after Episode 4, and 4 years after the collapse of the empire. The empire is not gone but fractured into many remnants, which have retreated to the outer rim and lost control of most of the core worlds. The new republic is still very new and struggling to take control of the power vacuum. episode 7 takes place much later in 34 ABY which is 25 years later

Dr Pershing, (thatâs the scientist,) is played by Omid Abtahi best known for his work as Staff Sergeant John Lugo of Delta Force in 2012âs Spec Ops: The Line, and as Salim from American Gods, he has also provided voices for the Call of Duty series, and plays recurring character Ahmed in the Marvel animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

IG88 was a droid that developed sentience and decided to become an assasin/bounty hunter, it also made copies of itself in order to do this more efficiently
I could listen to Werner Herzog (the man with the scary voice as you describe him) talk all day long. Heâs got a great accent and the pacing of his voice is super relaxing to me.
Love the Ewok shirt! And you're crushing on Din Djarin! You'll love him even more are the series continues â„ïž
Cassie will definitely enjoy the Mandalorian. I have Spoken.
This is the way
The way this is!
She's a simple lady who'll be making her way through The Mandalorian with great enjoyment. Like us fans before her.
The character that was playing Mandoâs friend that helped him get all his parts back was played by Nick Nolte.
Worth noting that the IG robot is voiced by Taiki Waititi - who Cassie will remember was "Imaginary Hitler" in Jo Jo Rabbit and "Korg" in the most recent Thor movies. He also directed all three of those movies.
Yay! So glad you're watching this!
So glad you're watching this, hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It will take you through a whole gamut of emotions.
A Foundling is basically a child being trained as a Mandalorian, or at least raised by them. It's kind of like their equivalent of a Jedi Youngling.
A Founding is also usually an orphan.
Werner Herzog is the "evil voice" guy, as you put it. Famous director and sometimes actor. He is German so that is his true accent. He essentially played the same role (evil guy) in the first Jack Reacher movie, which you should watch since it is very good. Herzog is a very convincing bad guy.
Haha yeah, they hooked us all with that first episode. đ€Łđ
My wife and I put off watching this until after S2 had started. For some reason we just weren't that interested in it. I'm so glad we finally took the plunge. It really is an excellent show!
Hey, Cassie, you mentioned in the beginning, the confusion of the movies starting with Episode IV.
I'll do my best here:
When the first movie was in theaters in 1977, it was only titled "Star Wars" (without the 'Episode IV' and without 'A New Hope' in the subtitle).
Lucas had written rough scripts for The Skywalker Saga (i.e., episodes 1-6) already but left 'Episode IV' off the title to avoid confusing the audience. He chose to begin with IV because he felt the story was more engaging and action-packed for the audience to start with, and because of the limits of special effects of the time. There were things in the prequels that couldn't have been done in 1977.
With the huge success of the film, he was set to do the whole saga, and titled the next one "Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back". A year later, "Star Wars" was re-released in theaters as "Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope".
By the way, The Mandalorian takes place, not after Episode IX, but 5 years after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
BTW the guy who picked up mando and the bounty who gets eaten on the ice is an actor that is a huge Star Wars nerd and they put him in just to kill him lol
Glad to see you watching this series. Can't wait to go through it with you. I know you'll just love it.
I highly recommend also checking out the animated series, especially Clone Wars and Rebels. Ideally before Mandalorian S2 and Book of Boba Fett, as Clone Wars and Rebels introduce a lot of characters and lore connected to those shows. Theyâre not necessary viewing, but they do make the viewing experience even better
This is a bit of a daunting and time consuming task, especially if you wanna get to S2 asap, as Clone Wars is 7 seasons and Rebels is 4. Clone Wars is an anthology show, so it definitely isnât necessary to watch every single episode. I actually made a list of episodes and arcs I consider necessary/essential viewing that Iâd be happy to share
Rebels is a lot more of an interconnected story, following the same group for the whole show, so itâs preferable to watch all of it.
You an I seem to make our rounds recommending CW and Rebels... its seems not often we succeed sadly
@@johnwkindig1613 itâs a sad reality that animation is still overlooked. And the time it would take to watch 11 seasons of material doesnât help đ
@@andyrobin7196 It wouldn't take years to watch them. May take some binging but is doable and well worth it.
I agree that it would be way too much to react to but, I think it would be well worth it for her to do a little binging on her own the next few weeks. It would provide some bits and pieces of information that will be referenced throughout the series. Plus, it's really high quality. I do have to admit that the narrator's voice gets annoying to me after awhile.
@@jonmercano1138 but they are short episodes. You can watch one arc one sitting.
Mandalorians are from the planet Mandalor. (With the exception of foundlings who are adopted) An ancient race of warriors. Basically the Spartans of Star Wars. They developed their weapons and armor to fight the jedi with whom they were at war with for many years.
Also, Yoda was 900 years old.
This is the way. This is the way.
Mandolorian is an awesome tv-show. It is just awesome.
I have spoken.
I am so happy you are watching this series. It is my favorite. Also keep in mind as you watch these shows, they bring in many fan favorite characters from the animated shows (Clone Wars, Rebels, etc.). So there will be and is many characters that you may not recognize at first, but who are very important and beloved. So keep that in the back of your head. Anyway, I'm so hyped for this journey!
The Mandalorian is awesome. You are gonna LOVE it!
Kuiil is the friend in the valley, voiced by Nick Nolte. And Mando sounds so very alluring because he's voiced by Pedro Pascal. :)
Foundlings are children that are orphaned during war that the Mandalorians look after. The Mandalorians then work to reunite the kids with their people. If the kids have no family or friends to return to, they are formally adopted into the Mandalorians
Bluugs are a native species on Ryloth. The planet where Twi'leks are from. There is a holdout blaster named after them. Mandalorian are a culture. But depending on what side of history you are from the definition changes. They are incredibly diverse in their beliefs. Many are loners going from planet to planet as mercenaries or Bounty Hunters. Their ways have existed several thousand years before the Old Republic was formed. Any member of any species can be a Mandalorian.

Mandalorians are a humanoid culture that hail from the planet Madalore. They are a warrior/hunter culture similar to the Predators from the Alien universe. In their culture combat prowess are highly prized.
Beskar is a special metal that is used to make their melee weapons and armor. It is blaster proof and lightsaber proof. During the days of the Old Republic the Mandalorians often were allied with the Sith. Their prowess and armor made them a challenge even for Jedi.
'That FELT like Star Wars'. This is the first time I have seen this and I feel the same. Baby Yoda using 'the source'...(!?) Cool as ice, helmeted bounty hunters. It seems good.
One of the best things about this show is the title track. John Williams will always be top tier, but we can also agree that Ludwig Goransson is always a win.
Also, IG-11 is voiced and portrayed by Taika Waititi. He's working on his own Star Wars project as well.
Of course we knew you would enjoy the Mandalorian. Just a side note it was created by Jon Favreau (Happy form the MCU) who is a true Star Wars fan. You will get to see a few more cast members you will surely recognize.
They'll explain what a Mandelorian is, who this particular Mando is and why he does what he does, why he doesn't like droids, why he took the kid, etc.
This is five years after Return of The Jedi, so some of the old Empire is still kicking around - but they're not generally seen as "in control".
The helpful character that negociated with the Jawas and helped rebuild Mando's ship is named Quiil. He is a species known as Ugnaught. There were Ugnaught characters working in the "recycling room" in Cloud City in Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back. They threw C3PO's disconnected head around the room in a game of "keep away" when Chewbacca was trying to retreive C3PO's parts to reassemble him.
Excited for you to see this! (I mean, at this point you've already seen it, but I'm excited to see when you first saw it, lol)
Having a yuck day and when I saw you were doing this I'm like "oh hell yes lets do this" so thank you
The Mandalorian takes place a few years after the Empire was defeated in Return of the Jedi (Episode 6) and almost 30 years before The Force Awakens (Episode 7).
Hope this helps.
A little tidbit of trivia The bounty hunter droid IG-11 is voiced by Taika Waititi. You may be familiar with him he is the voice of Korg from the last 2 Thor movies as well as was their director . He also played imaginary Hitler and directed JoJo Rabbit among other films.
After you finish this season, you should start watching Clone Wars, for spoiler reasons as well as the fact that the show rules. You might need a fan-made list of essential episodes as it is a different beast to almost every show out there, but you should definitely watch at least a few episodes before Mando season 2. I have spoken.
Some of Rebels might also be worthwhile (especially to understand Ahsoka and her last encounter with Vader).
I would suggest watching episodes around mandalorians, ahsoka, maul, Anakin, and the core of 501st episodes
@@bobogus7559 good point, but that's something that would better come later
@@darthevol5734 I agree but I think she could say, watch some CW, then Andor, when it comes out, then Mando S2, then more CW, and so on... It's a lot of episodes. It would be good to space them out. But as you say she MUST see all of these amazing episodes. Clone Wars Darth Maul is literally tied with Vader for second favorite Star Wars villain. I have spoken.

And once again, since you are watching the original Superman movies (I really only recommend the first two, maybe third, but not fourth)! I also recommend Flash Gordon (1980). Bright, colorful, amazing song and soundtrack from Queen, great cast, and Sam Jones as Flash Gordon, like a mix between Superman and Clark Kent. Chooses sci fi pulp comic fun.
And a fun fact: originally George Lucas came to the Flash Gordon rights holders in the early 70s to try and make a Flash Gordon movie, since he was such a fan of the early shows and comics and serials. The rights holders were already developing a script, so they told Lucas no, so he went on to make Star Wars, which borrows fun ideas from Flash Gordon. And the success of Star Wars a few years later paved the way for the Flash Gordon movie to get made, since more positive, fun sci-fi was back in popularity again!
If you still need the answer: The Mandalorians are a Warrior-culture with religious undertones. Different Groups have different rules, but they're all bound by a warriors-honor.
Beskar is a metal that the Mandalorians used to create their Armors, it's one of the few Materials that can counter Lightsabers.
After their World was destroyed by the empire, much of their culture was lost, and many of the Mandalorians became wandering Bounty Hunters, with only small groups surviving.
I love this show. It absolutely feels like Star Wars. I am very thankful that Jon Favreau Created this series. Honestly think Jon had taken interest in Star Wars before part 7/8/9 came out. Would have loved to of seen what he could have done with them.
Good choice watching this one! The Mandalorian is the best Star Wars TV show. And it gets better and better as it goes.
Cassie, in the Tales of the Jedi comics from the 1990s, they show us General Mandalore, and he was a warrior and had a similar helmet and i forget exactly what he did, but he was remembered in the star wars universe evidently, people named a planet after him and wear helmets that look like his still. you can find those comics somewhere.
The blue alien mando caught was Horatio Sanz from SNL season 31.
I forgot how flat-out GREAT this looks. And, of course, this means we will get a fresh reaction to the Season 2 finale. NO ONE SAY A GODDAMN THING
We won't lol
I wonât give any specifics about how dumb the finale of season 2 is. Just know, Cassie, itâs dumb.
@@oddjob914 opinions vary, it would seem.
@@roberttruhn5067 They are basically like buttholes - everybody has one.
I think someone already wrote something, but (shakes head) I'm not thinking about it!!
Really glad you are doing this series! As everyone else is saying, there has been some sub-par Star Wars lately but this show is DEFINITELY among the best things Star Wars has put out in decades. Can't wait for your next set of episodes!
Incase nobody told you yet, Mandalorians were a culture/religion of soldiers. They were kind of like space vikings, and had conquered so much of the galaxy that the Jedi got involved, eventually defeating them and kind of shattering their empire.
Now they kind of congregate in tribes, or work as individuals as guns for hire. Because they're a strictly warrior culture, they're notoriously skilled and very prized as mercenaries. They also tend to take in orphans and absolve them into their culture, so they're not strictly a race, but name themselves after their first leader, Mandalore. Whenever a leader rises to power he becomes known as the new Mandalore.
They're also known for Beskar Steel, Mando's payment for baby Yoda, which makes some of the finest armor in the galaxy because it can resist blaster fire, and comes from their native world.
1:10 Star Wars starts with episode 4 because when it was first made in 1977, it was originally episode 1. The original films were then made to be episodes 4, 5, and 6 (and the opening crawl on subsequent releases of those episodes was modified to reflect this) once the prequels were made (the prequels then became episodes 1, 2, and 3).
Also, The Mandalorian takes place shortly after Return of the Jedi.
Thats not true. The opening crawl was changed to say Episode 4 back in 1981. Lucas had always planned the prequels, he just didnt include a hint of them in the movies until he knew the series was a success.
@@BasketCase-rr7tx Okay, I got the timing wrong. Still, A New Hope was originally episode 1 and was changed to episode 4 once Lucas knew he would make the prequel trilogy.
The Mandalorian is so much better than the sequel trilogy, This is the way.
You have spoken
This is the Way
Sequel trilogy? What Sequel trilogy?? Lol
What isn't?
This is the way
PLEASE watch STAR TREK! đ
And Doctor Who and Red Dwarf
Battle star Galactica!
A short summary (and i Hope i'm right so far): Mandalorians are a war Tribe. As a result of trying to conquer the galaxy they are nowadays nearly extincted with their homeworld mandalor destroyed completely. Kotor and Clone wars contain a bit of Background Story regarding Mandalorians.
If you watch the Clones Wars and Rebels cartoons you learn a great deal about the Mandalorians and their culture. This is introducing a new element to the culture that we haven't seen till now..
Watch "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" please! (Only ten episodes by now)
ahaha I like how you descibed the main character like he was related to Loan Starr from Spaceballs.... *chefs kiss*
Yes, this Mandalorian happens to be a bounty hunter! And generally most Mandalorians pick this profession, since they are great shooters, hunters, pilots, trackers, fighters. All the skills needed for bounty hunting.
The IG Droid that we see here is the same model of Bounty Hunter Droid that we see briefly in Empire Strikes Back when Vader offers Boba Fett and the other hunters the mision of capturing Han Solo, though he/it just stands in the background, just turning his head (due to technology limitations in the early 80's). We also see IG-88 (also known as Phlut droid) being deactivated in the background when Chewbacca saves C-3PO from the Ugnaughts (the midget pig-people which Kuiil, the farmer, is of the same species).
"The Mandalorian" is STAR WARS version based on the epic manga book series and the amazing film series "Lone Wolf and Cub".
To your questions: A 'foundling' is another way of saying he was adopted. Not all Mandalorians are bounty hunters, but the three who have been focus characters (Our boy here plus Jango and Boba Fett) have all been at least part time hunters. The whole helmet thing and what a Mandalorian is will be expanded on in the later episodes. This takes place 5 years after episode 6, Return of the Jedi.
Anyone else do the Rocky III voice when Apollo shows up in a movie? "Apollo...?"

19:24 Cassie, think of it this way: If you were the star of this show, they would've called it "The Earthling" instead... "Mando" is short for Mandalorian... By the way, the guy who calls him Mando is Carl Weathers, the actor who played Appolo Creed in the "Rocky" movies! And Kuill -- Mando's "little friend in the desert" -- is voiced by Nick Nolte! And the IG-11 bounty hunter droid is voiced by Taika Waititi!
I am so, so happy you are now reacting to my favorite Star Wars series! You will enjoy this series....it is the best!!!
A Mandolorian is a member of the warrior culture of the same name. They used to be a massive threat in the galaxy, having gone to war with the republic multiple times, and almost winning on occasion.
They aren't a single race. Almost anybody can be a Mandolorian. A Mandalorian is either born into the culture, or adopted into it as a "foundling" which is what they call abandoned or orphaned children that are accepted into the culture.
I think that the child is about the equivalent of a 5-year-old human child, maybe a little younger. He's old enough to understand when he's told "No" and also old enough to deliberately do it anyway. Like when Mando was tending his wound and he put the child back in his carrier and the child approached him again.
Hey Cassie so here's a very brief explanation of who The Mandalorians are.
The Mandalorians are humans with a strong warrior culture. In the days of The Old Republic 1000 years before the events of Episode 1 they were the absolute toughest warriors in the galaxy. The Sith used them in their war with the Jedi. A Jedi named Revan would lead an army of Jedi against the Mandalorians and ultimately he would face the leader of the Mandalorians and defeat him. He then took the leaders helmet and hid it. With the symbol of their culture lost the Mandalorians were broken and scattered. By The time of the Clone Wars Mandalore adopted a pacifist ideal system under Duchess Satine.
For more about the Mandalorians I recommend checking out The Lore Master, The book Star Wars The Old Republic: Revan, and The Clone Wars TV Show.
